Accountability will really help, as will your sincere desire - RESOLVE - to succeed. And just think, you stopped after gaining back only 60 of those 120 lbs. You didn't throw up your hands, give up entirely, and let them all flood back on you. That is a big step! Good luck to you.

I joined eating awareness groups at two different times, also worked with a nutritionist and two separate therapists. They helped me understand the origin of why I did what I did but I was never successful in changing my pattern permanently at that point. What made a difference for ME was getting out of the bad…

I fully intend to reach my goal. I'm saving some calories to eat after dinner (I was avoiding that because of metabolism concerns - was trying to front-load calories into the day) and also thinking about pushing more water.

A close friend who's a doctor said that, in a weight reduction phase, one shouldn't lose more than 10 pounds per month. (Of course, with a lot to lose, it might be more than that in the initial months.) More than that is not healthy and also is more subject to regaining down the road. So I'd say 20 pounds in 3 months is a…

I consider the daily allowance as a ceiling and aim at about 100 calories below it, too. And I don't eat back my exercise calories. But for me, it's because MFP won't let me program under 1200 calories per day and says I'll only lose 0.4 lbs per week at that pace. Not acceptable to me! I'm aiming at 1 lb per week at the…

I just noticed this week (and I'm getting near my goal, too) that I have been hungrier these past few days than I was in the beginning of the diet. Interesting. Maybe we're healthier all around and that's more normal? Or maybe we are learning to listen to our appetites instead of just eating whatever/whenever (certainly MY…

What a timely thread! I just started yesterday researching into the various wristbands that are out there. I wanted to make sure it would be worth the expense, and it sounds like the right one definitely would be!

I have food allergies, too, but I am able to eat most foods in every one of the food groups. It depends on how extensive your allergies are. My son is allergic to almost everything plus is a vegetarian, but he has found an eating plan that works for him and is strong and healthy. Need more detail on what you're allergic to…

My personal trainer told me NOT to use the treadmill (which had always been my machine of choice previously), just the elliptical. I have read that the treadmill is more jarring because your feet are pounding the surface with each step, while the elliptical is more gentle on your body because the pedals move right along…

I cut up a lemon and throw it into the bottom of my Britta. It needs to be changed out when it gets waterlogged and sinks to the bottom. I also ask for lemon at anybody's house or whenever I'm at a restaurant. My mother uses MIO and that works for her. I do drink herbal tea on occasion, but more often when it's colder out.…

You know, if I focus on my clothes, I have gotten into two sets of pants that didn't fit me for a while - first the looser pair and now the pair that was a bit smaller. So that has to show progress! That and the scale might be good enough. Thanks!

Well, that's a good point - I'm not sure how accurate my measurements are, doing them myself. Just measuring neck, waist, hips, thigh - it would be nice to think my stomach was going down, so I should probably start measuring that! Thanks.

You seem to be eating a lot of processed food, which is high in sodium. That will cause you to retain water, slowing down your weight loss. I can't tell how much water you drink in a day, because when I look at other people's diaries, their water consumption doesn't seem to carry over, but you need to be pounding the…

I have zillions of recipes collected over many years! I do eat fish occasionally, maybe once or twice a month. I cannot go all the way to vegan because I can't give up dairy - I have Greek yogurt every day and at long intervals will put some goat cheese into my salads. I do a LOT of veggie mixes - either crockpot or…

Yes, I try to go online and look at the menu first to make choices. Almost everybody has a variety of entree salads, and you can get them without cheese or croutons or dressing. And most restaurants nowadays show calories counts, which is very cool and helpful!

I have 1/2 c Greek yogurt, 1/4 tsp cinnamon, 1 cut-up banana or 1/4 c blueberries or 4 large cut-up strawberries, and sometimes I throw in 2 tbsp granola if I look at the day and can afford those calories.

Lunch is my easiest meal - I have a big salad of mixed greens and I use 1 tbsp hummus for a dressing. Depending on the calories I have available for that day, I'll throw in 2 tbsp dried fruit, 14 walnut halves, 4 oz cubed tofu, 3 oz canned tuna, or 1/2 cubed chicken breast. Most of the time, it's the first four things…

The one I had was for bone density, and it was prescribed by my doctor and done at the same place where I get my mammograms.

I am, too. And it's hard looking at my mother, brother, and sister (and having them already think I'm thin!) and wondering how to win this battle with my genes and programmed lifestyle. I agree that you take one day at a time in small increments and look forward to a long, healthy lifetime with the new habits you'll be…

Yes, but that means I have to scroll through four pages looking for the exact name I saved - at least twice now, I've missed seeing something I was sure I'd already added to my foods and now have it twice in my list. I'd like to be more efficient than that!

The 1440 was calculated from averaging three sources online. As for eating too little - you're right - I very often wake up in the middle of the night famished and can't get back to sleep because I'm too hungry. And in my exercise classes, I sometimes feel weak or even dizzy and have to stop for a little. I just thought…

Thank you. I do search by name but, as indicated in my original post, there are so many names for the same thing & I can't remember which way I chose it when I first added it to my foods. I haven't tried yet with a Smartphone, so I will do that next.

I have never thought about this - guess I figured you had to start all over from scratch the next day even if you had some left over from the previous day. A rollover calorie plan - sounds wonderful!!

I haven't been able to become vegan because I can't give up my yogurt (I have Greek yogurt with fruit every day). Otherwise, I use almondmilk and eat pretty much vegetarian - although every few weeks I shriek that maybe I should have some animal protein and I'll have fish or chicken. (Haven't had mammals in maybe 15…

I actually don't think that I am because I round everything up. I'll list 1/2 c blueberries but really have 1/4 cup. Or I'll say 1/2 c yogurt but actually have 1/3 cup. So I'm making allowances for things maybe having more calories than I'm listing on a daily basis.

> Are you sure your maintenance calories are only 1400? Have you tried eating at 1400 for a couple of weeks and seen that you don't lose weight eating at that calorie amount? How active did you tell MFP you were? Do you eat your exercise calories? Yes, they come out to be 1440. I got down to 97 a while back and maintained…

Appreciate your viewpoints. No, I never eat more than a single sandwich - no sides, no desserts - that's all I ever have room for. And yes, I can have half with a plain green salad one day and the other half the next day - that would work. Thanks so much for making it clear that this IS a lifestyle, not just a diet, and I…

Have a session with one of the personal trainers at the gym (even if you've already used your free one). They can test you and listen to your goals and then give you a specific routine with reps/minutes for each one. I wrote mine down and try to follow it pretty diligently.

Sounds like you're a stress eater. While you're in hot pursuit of that degree is possibly not the time to try to change your orientation or lifestyle, but since you're aware of and unhappy with your weight regain, maybe you can already start eating healthier, cut out the junk, and endure the 2 months so that you can become…
