Thank you.

That's fallacious thinking. Issues can have both individual and cultural ramifications. To dismiss the myriad of cultural implications of the "obesity epidemic", in my opinion, is as absurd a claim as saying that personal responsibility plays no role.

Salmon is the same price as chicken where you are? If that were the case here, I'd be eating salmon, like...every day. I do love me some chicken thighs, though.

So when did CICO become a valid argument against the thesis of clean eating? AFAIK, clean eating doesn't diverge from the CICO hypothesis at all.
-
It's gotta be tough, railing against invisible demons all the time. Your post has nothing to do with OPs question.

I'm going to go with any of the following: Roasted chuck roast, gravy, with roasted mixed vegetables. Any sort of sauteed fish. Bacon, spinach, and cheese omelette. Pepperoni and cream cheese (for snacks or lunch Two burger patties, medium, with cheese, sauteed onions, peppers, mushrooms, and jalapenos, with mayo, ketchup,…

Yes, it would be interesting to see what your macro breakdowns tend to be.

Why would one want to avoid saturated fat and cholesterol?

I never said that the alternatives were better (and have said the opposite several times). I object to the idea that a study being peer reviewed automatically makes it a strongly supported study, or that the conclusion is "truth", which is what the general public seems to think that it means. People read too much into…

Imagine if you could hear the vegetables scream...

I probably would. Protein is protein.

It was probably a little out of line, as the only reason it was included was to take a jab at the other poster. Now, whether or not it was called for...

I honestly wish I had written that. I'm not sure I've seen a better paragraph anywhere on the internet, ever.

Your science is way more fun than my science.

I'm going to have to go with her on this one. I've been on both sides of this process, and it's never meant that. What field are you in? Perhaps that would explain the difference.
-
This post is oddly hilarious if I consider it spoken from the perspective of an actual corgi.

More for me! Though you are missing out on liverwurst (like, delicious bologna), pate, FOIE GRAS (though not as good as other livers as an iron source)...
-
I pick liver. That stuff is delicious.

I have eaten ketogenically for over a year, and would never go back to calorie counting or eating the standard 40/30/30 ratios or whatever. Literally. If I were in prison, I'd probably have to shank a guy for their bologna every day.

I agree with this completely. I think one benefit of working in hard science research is that there's a certain amount of technical abstraction which would exclude the majority of the public from being able to properly digest the information in the first place. When one works in a "soft-science" realm, such as much of…

One of the things that should be considered -- and I really glossed over it, is there should be lines drawn between conclusions that are drawn on the data, and the policy conclusions that are built onto those. There can be errors at any point in the equation. For a very simple example: Let's say that I think egg intake is…

I am in medical R&D and am intimately familiar with the peer review process as well, and I don't think criticism of it invalidates our work. There are legitimate concerns, especially with regard to an actual operational definition of peer review, that sometimes are glossed over: 1. Ask someone, especially a layperson, what…

Ancel Keys is the guy that you use as an example of good science? Interesting.

Or because they've been hit enough times for making completely unsupportable and untruthful claims that they decide to revert back to the, "well, if I say it frequently enough, people might begin to believe it" strategy.
-
I see that about as frequently as I see people claiming things as absolute truth because there's been a couple studies done that agree with them. Or, rather, they've read the abstracts of a couple studies that agree with them, so they just roll with it, and immediately ignore any contradictory studies as garbage. Or people…

Since we're on the topic, my cat's breath smells like cat food.
-
You mean quickly skimming an abstract doesn't give you the full understanding of the study? Man, there goes 99.948% of all MFP arguments. Also, I want to friend you solely on the basis of this post.
-
Yes. The public at large doesn't seem to grasp exactly how messed up the peer review process can be.
-
That's not what he said. He said: "I think it's fair to say that certain foods require more care or are more easily over-consumed, though." That's about the least radical statement anyone has ever made. How many people could routinely eat 3000 calories of green beans as opposed to 3000 calories of pizza?

It's possible to drink too much water. Have you had your electrolyte levels checked? Are you intaking enough sodium and potassium?
