You can definitely start with your doc, who may end up referring you to an endocrinologist. I would suggest keeping a diary of your diet including all portion weights and calorie counts, and bring in the one from when you were losing too. If your period is off all of a sudden, that is reason to get more tests right there.…

Worst thing? Tendon rupture. Of course, not every case will result in that and it really depends on which tendon, the severity, and the cause. You really should see a doctor. Find out where you're at, and if you can continue exercising. It's not a guarantee that you will need complete rest (I was just shown how to tape…

Exercise is mainly for fitness, and not for weight loss. That's what your diet is for. Think of it this way: Using your October mileage and current weight (sorry to creep your profile to find it), you are burning about 104 net calories per mile of running, give or take. Multiply that by 45 miles, and that is an extra 4,680…

Reported. (Kidding) Love that movie though!

In the top, but I have to say I enjoyed Friends and Frasier more.

That was awesome! And running with Deena Kastor? So cool! I've met her briefly before and she is so nice. Congrats!

Yep this. Typically around 500 per pair for me but the time or two I've gone with something different they didn't last as long on me. You mentioned tread, but the midsole where the structure is can wear out long before the tread. I would suggest getting a new pair but don't toss the old ones yet. If after a few runs your…

I've read a lot of do and don'ts (ie, don't wear anything new, hydrate, etc.)... My last long run I cramped up. I still didn't stop but I was cramped from mile 16-20. Hope that doesn't happen race day. Somebody suggest a few teaspoons of pickle juice for cramping. Ever heard of that? Cramping is usually due to muscle…

Add calorie dense foods to your meals - olive oil, nuts, etc. have a lot of calories without a lot of bulk.

Buy better coffee. It won't need as much dressing up. If you can't have a coffee pot, French presses make awesome coffee. If you still want something added (which I prefer too) try normal cream or half and half, sugar, or even spices like cinnamon.

It's such a common issue that they make running gloves with terrycloth patches to wipe your snot on. It's a very common issue. As for why: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=99844567

Awesome work! You are looking great.

HUGE difference! Your hard work is really showing.

Also meant to say - there are usually free clinics and sliding scale clinics where you pay based on your income. That is another avenue to check down to get medical care.

OP, do you have gastroparesis? Zantac is not your only option to get your stomach in order. Reglan, domperidone (from compounding pharmacies), and low dose erythromycin are all treatments that are low cost and used to increase stomach emptying. They all have pros and cons to them. Maybe saving up for a GI consult could be…

5 lbs. in a week is probably a lot of water weight. You're weaning off one drug and starting another - that's a lot of change for your body. Give yourself time to finish weaning from the Lexapro (brain zaps suck, but will go away eventually) - until then, just eat within reason as best you can and try not to stress too…

I would highly suggest making three goals: an A goal (attainable but a stretch - would be thrilled with it), B goal (walk away happy), and C goal (walk away satisfied). C goal should be just to finish. With the marathon being more than twice as hard as a half (it really is), 4:30 might not be attainable this time around.…

This might help.

What about just keeping them in check with a pumice stone? If you don't like the idea of gloves, a quick scrubbing a few times per week would only take a few minutes.

If it works for you, great. I'm just pointing out that fluid ounces and dry ounces are not the same and labels for liquids like milk mean fluid ounces when they give nutrition info for serving size. It's a matter of volume (fl oz) vs. weight (ounces on your scale), so different densities of liquids are going to be off by…
-
You can't use ounces on a scale to measure fluid ounces. Typically when I see nutrition info for liquids, it's for fluid ounces or mL, not a dry weight measurement. Some fluids will be close in fluid ounce to dry ounce, but not many. Unless you're not implying that you weigh your liquids, in which case I misunderstood.

It's backwards for me and I can't vouch for quality of sleep (I have not had a sleep study), but I honestly fall asleep faster and easier when the TV is on. I also cannot turn off thoughts a lot, and while that isn't the main reason for the insomnia, listening to old sitcoms as I fall asleep helps as it focuses my mind on…

I don't know what is feasible or not with eating disorder recovery, but I will just eat at maintenance for a few days when I get like that. I figure a half a week at maintenance here and there isn't going to stall my weight loss too much. I don't know if something like that could be an option for you - making your calorie…

1200 limit? Are you trying to lose 2+ lbs per week? Setting a slower weight loss goal will give you more calories, be more sustainable, and reduce the risk of burnout. Better to get there slower than never get there at all.

My highest was a 12 lb gain overnight. To be fair, I felt like if someone stuck me with a pin, I would pop! It was CLEARLY water retention, and came off over the next few days.

Plain greek yogurt, chocolate chips, and a little bit of vanilla extract. YUM.
-
How long are you giving yourself between eating and laying down? Fat digests slower than carbohydrates - is it possible your stomach is still partially full and you are having reflux?
-
12 pounds in 2 weeks is probably water retention. It's worth checking back in with your pdoc to make sure that's what it is and that it's not a signal that a serious side effect is going on. It's really not known exactly how meds cause true weight (fat) gain - a lot of it is appetite increase, but in some people it can…
-
As long as you aren't having any digestive issues, I wouldn't worry about it unless you are WAY over as it can interfere with vitamin absorption. How much are you getting on average?

This was going to be my suggestion as well. Everyone is a bit different in how they prefer to dress, so it'll be trial and error, but dressing as if it were 10 degrees warmer is a great place to start. Layers are also going to be your friend - not only can you get by with a smaller wardrobe, it makes adjusting on the run…
