I'm the same way and completely agree with you here. However, if you go the natural route, I would still keep in touch with your doctor to make sure everything is getting better, not worse. Rosemary Gladstar has a book you might be interested in, "Herbal Healing for Women." Best of luck. :)

I had to majorly cut down on my carbs since May when I was diagnosed with insulin resistance and PCOS. I used to cook meals the same way--tons of pasta and rice! I thought it was going to be hell, but you get used to it pretty fast. Eating smaller portion sizes really helps. I really enjoy making stir-fries with tofu…

I was diagnoses with PCOS and insulin resistance last month. I started taking Metformin (850mg twice a day) and, as my nutritionist suggested, I started eating less than 150g of total carbs a day...With the addition of roughly 90 minutes of exercise a week, the pounds are slowly coming off. For the first time in my life,…

I was diagnosed with PCOS & insulin resistance last month...but I've had symptoms for as long as I can remember. I've been on Ortho-tri-cyclen-lo for years and started Metformin when I was diagnosed. My highest weight was 275, I'm currently 224, but my lowest weight was 199. Now that I'm fully aware of what's going on in…

Recently, my doctor told that I'm insulin resistant and damn close to ending up with type 2 diabetes (on top of insanely high cholesterol), so I can sympathize with the dietary restrictions. Luckily, he works with a nutritionist who told me that I don't need to cut out carbs completely, but told me to limit myself to 150g…
