  • I gave up coffee, but only because I use so much creamer in mine. Even the sugar-free and fat-free kinds were adding up. I can't handle it black (bleugh!!) Just remember to track your creamer and any sugar (I prefered Splenda), it shouldn't hurt!
  • I'd say the shoes first. You need some cushion and support for the joints! Then the girls need their support!!!
  • Fantastic job! Good for you! You look amazing and that smile tells it all. Love the haircut, too! Super cute!
  • I want to do this, and I have "sorta" started (week 1 day 2!) but i had to modify it. I haven't been working out for very long (3-4 weeks) after quite a few years of uber-sedentary-ness. So for week 1 I'm doing 60 second jog (5.2 pace) and 2 minute walk (instead of 90 second). My hips and quads HURT after day one, and…
  • this might sound dumb, but how in the world do you keep the inside of the straw clean?! I used to have a water bottle with a straw, but even after putting it through the dishwasher I could look into the straw and get the heebie jeebies. I swear there was mold in there! After just a couple weeks I couldn't bring myself to…
  • I weigh every morning on my way into the shower. I can't NOT do it, and I think I should only be doing it once a week. I was so happy with a 2 pound weight loss last week (weighed on Monday). And then this morning I was up 1.4 pounds. WHATEVER! stupid scale :p :)
  • Nope! You should definitely find some protein in an egg! :) Try picking a different entry from the food list!
  • 2 cups are in a pint (regardless of country ;) ) 8 pints is 16 glasses of water. 8 oz=1cup 16 oz=1 pint 32 oz=1 quart 128 oz=1 gallon I agree with the Crystal Light or any other generic water flavoring. 10 calories per pint (5 per cup). Its the only way I can get all of my water in (I hate plain water :p) There is a…
  • I use a Britta water filter, as someone suggested above. It works really well and is pretty economical. Water in our area is pretty chlorine-y (yuck) and the water from by pitcher tastes .... tasteless? Clean? You know what I mean?
  • I've never had additional cravings from "sugar free" anything, and I've never seen any actual, scientific, peer-reviewed and published research that backs up the "confuses your body" claim. Maybe its there, but I haven't seen it....
  • No-sugar-added Fudgecicles! 40 calories each.
  • Yes, you can. They don't remove your natural breast tissue (and so don't remove BC risk), and the implants do make it harder (not impossible) to detect early cancer. This is more-so in the above-the-muscle placements than the under-the-muscle. The cost depends on where you live, the type of facility that you go to, and the…
  • It's not unusual for doctors not to bring it up because most of the time it is met with indignation and anger. If a patient doesn't bring it up, they likely don't want to hear about it. Can you imagine how often they'd get screamed at if they told every overweight patient that they were fat and needed to lose weight?…
  • Sometimes if you do not have enough potassium it causes painful charlie horses! For me they usually wake me up in the middle of the night, which is the WORST! Thankfully I haven't had any in a very long time. Aside from leg cramps, I don't know of other effects.
  • Another song I highly recommend for inspiration (especially if you're running) is I Run for Life.
  • OMG I'm going to go download that right now! :)
  • I'm always looking for new ideas, too. I have a lot of songs on my mp3 player that I thought would be great, but somehow they seem so much slower when I'm working out! Hate that! :) There are a few songs that I hope come up toward the end of my workout to pick me up and push me a little more. I almost hate to admit some of…
  • Yep. I'm 5'9" and now 230. I had been 180 (give or take 5 pounds) for most of my adult life. And then 30-years-old happened, and it hit me like a Mack truck. I didn't eat much different or have much less activity, but all the sudden I hit 190. And the 200. And then 220. I finally hit 249 before I got my head together and…
  • 14 pounds in 2 months is fantastic! Give yourself some credit!! Don't worry about other people! Slow and steady wins the race!
  • Congratulations! You found it! When you "log" your foods, you can search for just about anything and find it already listed in the database. Just click on the one you're looking for (say Del Monte Banana Medium) and add it to your foods.
  • I'm 5'9". When I was 140 (many years ago) my family accused me of being anorexic!
  • Wow. You seem awfully, awfully defensive. You did realize there are a lot of people, including doctors (although you say yours is on-board) who condemn the Adkins diet, correct? This should not have been a surprise to you that people would suggest you reconsider. It is not an "attack" as you claim, but advice. Isn't that…
  • MFP has no idea at what intensity you worked. Level 2 or level 8? Low speed, high speed? The machine will take your intensity into account, but MFP can't. Personally, I would go by the machine.
  • I definitely share your frustration! My niece mentioned the other day that she lost 10 pounds and 2 pants sizes... !?!?!? I lost 25 pounds and went down one size! UGH!
  • Mayo Clinic: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/low-carb-diet/NU00279/NSECTIONGROUP=2 I actually attended a talk on the subject by Dr. Don Hensrud of Mayo Clinic, one of the leading obesity doctors/researchers in the country (also an author of The Mayo Clinic Diet). WebMD:…
  • I know someone who was ordered by her doctor to STOP her low-carb diet because it had screwed her blood numbers so bad. They say it won't raise your cholesterol and such, and that's just not true. It does. Worse...have you ever been stuck in an elevator with someone on a low-carb diet?! Its like Death Breath has invaded…
  • I'm in the same boat. I like Tuna stakes, but anything other than that makes me gag. Maybe I'll have to try the tilapia recipe above....with trepidation...
  • I think its just another diet "gimmick" as well. The only sites that say this works are ones that are trying to sell it to you. There's zero evidence that backs it up. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/blood-type-diet/AN01415
  • The song Jai Ho (from Slumdog Millionaire) is the song I always hope comes up on my mp3 player toward the end of the workout when I'm just trying to make it through! Always picks me up - perfect beat! Embarassingly, Cup of Life (Ricky Martin) is one I love to workout to, too. If you're running, I like "I run for Life" for…
  • Great minds, right!
