Hey, well done LuvTheCubs! Those are some great improvements. There's been no summer weather where I am unfortunately :) I hope you enjoy your vacation! I'm noticing a difference in the BW matrix as well. Did Workout A3 today and did the first matrix in 3.51. I want to see if I can get down to 3.30 for the last workout.…

I haven't really looked ahead to Stage 6 yet but if the workouts are shorter I'm excited! Workouts 1B and 2A down now... SO much easier than the awful first workout. I'm back in the game :) The bodyweight matrix took me 6 and a half minutes on Sunday and I could only do one. Today I did two sets, both taking 4 minutes 15…

Thanks lcuconley! And today I am experiencing the DOMS from Hell... I've even got them in my arms! is it weird that I've missed this feeling? Even if I am walking up and down stairs like a very old lady...

Ugh, first day in the gym after 3.5 weeks off (and 2 of those weeks were a VERY lazy, gluttonous holiday... but so worth it) but at least I'm back in a routine now. It wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be but I wasn't able to do the second bodyweight matrix and I didn't really increase my weights from what I did in Stage 3.…

Aha, sorry for the double post but I think I've found my answer! Apparently the functional trainer prioritises range of motion over actual weight and gives a "mechanical advantage". It can either have a ratio of 1:4 or 1:2, so although the label says the resistance is 58.5kg, effectively it's either 29kg or 15kg depending…

No, you are right, I'm completely suspicious of it myself as it's a ridiculously high weight, and it bugs me every time I use the machine because I know I'm not woodchopping a true 58.5kg despite what the machine says. Especially as I've just hit 50kg with my DL and still haven't hit 45kg on my pulldowns! I put down 58.5kg…

Well done jo_marnes! I finished my last B workout today :) yay! I actually think the few days off did me the world of good- I felt pretty great this morning. Stage 4 results: A FSPP: 27.5kg x 6, 27.5kg x 6, 30kg x 4 Step Up: 12.5kg dumbbells x 8 (Same as what I started this stage at. Just couldn't make that leap to the…

Planks are strange. I think there is a mental element to them... sometimes I'm "in the zone" and 120 seconds is no problem. Sometimes I just feel totally incapable and can barely get to 45 seconds. If I'm planning on going for more than a minute I will grab my phone and listen to something to distract myself, otherwise I…

Wow, well done jo! Those are impressive lifts. I'll be happy if I can get any reps at all of 50kg before I finish... I did 3 x 8 of 45kg last week and I was straining so hard I looked like the hulk. Only bright red instead of green  I know what you mean about the benches! I sometimes work out at a different gym if…

Impromptu rest day for me :( For ONCE I woke up at 5.45am in a fantastic mood... full of energy and ready to go kick *kitten*... knowing it was my last workout for Stage 4... got out of bed and my knee was KILLING me. I think I did something to it on Wednesday- we had a fitness challenge in my boot camp class that was…

I deliberately go at 6.30am so the gym isn't crowded. I simply would not be able to hack the place at 7pm. You can barely get a spot to yourself let alone a bench or a barbell! Last week I was the only person in the weights area for a whole half an hour and it was absolute bliss.
-
Cardio wise- I have a fitbit and can get anywhere between 10,000 and 16,000 steps a day (usually somewhere in the middle). I walk everywhere and between walking to work, the gym, lunchtime errands/food shopping and etc I rack up steps without even thinking about it. I work a desk job that's totally sedentary and I'm…

Halfway through Stage 4 today! I missed two workouts (one shamefully due to hangover, one to stomach bug... ugh) last week so I've fallen behind. I'm visiting my parents for the weekend so I did a "pay as you go" session at a different gym... it was nice, very quiet, the weights area was a lot more "bro dominated" than my…

I usually do a 45 minute spin class and a bootcamp class (a mix of HIIT/bodyweight exercises) in addition to my NROLFW workouts. I enjoy them both so I find it hard to give them up. Generally 24 hours+ between any kind of exercise (e.g. I'll do NROLWF Tuesday morning, bootcamp is Wednesday night), unless I was pressed for…

Thanks for the tip lcuconley, they were indeed easier than last time! I was less wobbly too, although my balance is still a bit wonky at times. Sometimes I look ridiculous hopping forward trying to get into "position" without falling over. The lunges still suck though. I don't think I'm ever going to enjoy lunges :) I…

I've just started Stage 4, but I would skip the cobras in Stage 3 and probably will for this stage as well. My gym doesn't have a back extension machine so I was doing them in place of that and it just felt pointless repeating them at the end. That, and they take FOREVER when I'm pressed for time in the gym as it is, and I…

Well done chicbuc! I just finished the last B workout too. Yay! I'm glad I'm not the only slowpoke who thinks these workouts take a long time. Today's workout took me 107 minutes... almost 2 hours! Luckily I have nothing better to do on a Sunday :p but yeah, between warming up, resting, and occasionally wandering around…

Ahh it sounds like the one-leg deadlifts are important so... I'll have to practise them for the next stage.

That overhead squat does my head in (almost literally considering the first time I tried it I nearly dropped the weight on myself)- I don't know am I just terribly uncoordinated but I CANNOT keep my arm straight for the life of me. I'm only using 3kg and 6kg and I still bend my arm when I go down. I've tried practising…

I would also really like to join this group, thank you!

THIS, pretty much. Greek yogurt with microwaved cinnamon apple slices is heavenly.

It's a doozy of a move for sure. I started off doing tons of reps with a preloaded 10kg barbell to try and get the form correct, and I'm still not sure if I was doing them right. By the end of the stage I'd worked up to the bar (20kg) but that was it, and 20kg was tough. I was disappointed not to hit a heaver final weight…

Hi ladies. Hope nobody minds me dropping into the chat thread! I'm 26 years old, living in Ireland, and should be finishing Stage 2 tomorrow morning. I went to college in Cork where I'm from. I studied Multimedia. I actually ended up paying a visit to my college while I was at my parent's house for the weekend to use the…

I have my fat set to 30% but usually hit closer to 40%... I aim to eat healthy fats, it hasn't affected my weight loss so far. Plus I'm not happy without my avocados and peanut butter...

I don't really discuss my exercise routine or diet any more because I'm tired of getting ignorant responses from people, despite the fact that most personal trainers these days seem to highlight the benefits of lifting for women, and my gym is constantly encouraging women to get into weights on it's Facebook page. I still…

I am regretting not talking before/after pictures. I didn't think I'd see results as the scales were barely moving- but in 5 weeks I lost 3.5 inches from my waist and another 1.5 from my hips. I've taken some pictures now so at least I'll be able to see progress from here on (I hope!)

I eat a small banana. Sometimes I don't finish it but I find it very hard to exercise on a totally empty stomach. I always wake up hungry so it isn't difficult for me to eat in the morning!

I am a UK 32F and just started wearing Panache sports bras. I wear them for horse-riding, running, biking, bootcamp and general gym stuff. They're so comfy and definitely good at keeping the girls strapped down. I also like shock absorber bras but will probably buy the Panache ones from now on.
