I remind myself that I've given birth - if I can do THAT, then I can do this!

I was having knee trouble, too, so I ordered the DVD "Strong Knees" by Gaiam (http://www.gaiam.com/strong-knees/05-53351,default,pd.html). It specifically targets the muscle groups that support the knee, and has made a difference to me. Check YouTube for snippets of the video, if you're curious. Message me if you'd like to…

WOW - look at you! Your whole core looks trim and fit. Whatever you're doing, it's working!

Congrats to everyone who has just started the program - you've already completed the toughest step! Be patient with yourself, and with the program, and you'll be sure to progress. You will be amazed at what you can accomplish!

I had the EXACT same problem with W7D1 this week. It was definitely the worst run I'd had since starting the program, I was so surprised, since I had done the same 25-minute run for W6D3 with no particular difficulty. Today, I had W7D2, and was a wee bit worried that I'd run out of gas again. I decided to slow down my pace…

Excellent! I'm waiting for the registration for my local "Color Me Rad 5K" to open, so I can join in the fun!

Another person in BC looking for a local source. I'm going to Bellingham, WA tomorrow, and am hoping I can find it there.

To compare the calories between store-bought and homemade bread, I'd suggest basing your comparison on weight, not number of slices. Store-bought bread is probably less dense than homemade, so two slices of store-bought might weigh the same as one slice of homemade.

Sprouted grain breads are high-fiber AND high-protein; I love toast in the mornings, and appreciate the fact that I'm not just eating empty carbs. Example: Silver Hills Mac's Flax bread has 110 calories, 5 grams of fiber, and 6 grams of protein per slice.

Homemade crêpes with fresh strawberries, with yogurt on the side. Not the most filling meal in the world, but fresh strawberries are a gift to be savoured!

One slice of cheese pizza from the Costco food court = 700 calories. Yikes. Granted, that is a large slice; if you buy the whole pizza, they cut it into twice as many slices. which makes it a bit easier to control the damage.

Ho-ly Mo-ly! You lift, right?

Excellent! You are halfway to a significant milestone, which must feel great. How do you set your "mini-goals"? I use an old WW trick of aiming for losing 10% of my starting weight. Once I accomplish that, I aim for 10% of my new weight, and so on. Done that way, it doesn't seem quite so scary!

I'm in week 5, and am staring at a scary run on Monday - 20 minutes nonstop. But honestly, it is such a cool program - times that seemed far out of reach at the beginning have now become routine. Give it a try, and see what you think - you might surprise yourself!

I just started my fourth week of C25K, using the "Just Run" iPod app. The goal of the app is to have you running nonstop for 30 minutes at the end of nine weeks. You are not encouraged to skip ahead; the program is designed to ease you into running, without injuring yourself or getting discouraged. So far, I am quite…

Very good point. When I watch TV shows from the 70s, I always notice that everyone looks so trim - but that was the norm, and those people were at a healthy weight. Does anyone remember "The Odd Couple"? Oscar was supposed to be the stereotypical flabby former jock - but by today's standards, he looks normal, and Felix…

Another vote for the Bugle; there's a huge back catalog of episodes that could keep you busy for weeks.

+ to what JWat2020 just said. As for why MFP gives you "extra" calories to eat when you work out: The idea is that eating too few calories will slow your weight loss. Why? Because below a certain calorie level, your body will think it is starving, and will reduce your metabolism to hang on to the calories you do eat.
