  • I am in this position somewhat. My daughter recently lost her job and since it is such slim pickings around here, her and her boyfriend have decided to go along with me to the state prison system, where my husband works....but for right now We support them, so we feed a family of 7. Also factor in that we have started…
  • I am also a stay at home mom. I have 4 children, but one is 20 and an adult now and the others are 14, 13, and 10. I have decided to go back to work though so won't be a stay at home mom for much longer! I will be shooting you a friend request, if you ever have any questions or just want another mom who has been there to…
  • I fully agree as well with your very logical and responsible decision. How will children ever learn responsibility if they are not held accountable for their actions? It would not have been a burden for the school to have the child sit in during recess and work on school work, they do this for discipline ALL THE TIME...if…
  • Thanks! My problem is that as far as vegetables go, I like corn, green beans and sugar snap peas. :) Not much variety. :) BUT tonight I had a homemade vegetable beef soup and I tossed all kinds of veggies in it..carrots, bell peppers, onions, beets, snap peas, green beans, celery and at breakfast I had scrambled eggs and I…
  • Hey I know a good thing to add...for people like me...I love fruit but hate vegetables...I have been wracking my brain trying to find ways to eat veggies. I even made it a point today to try new vegetables. Maybe add a paper on how to mask veggies...mix them in eggs, in soups/stews...etc.
  • Thank you all very much! I am totally second guessing myself here about fitness and you all have reassured me. :)
  • My sister always calls me the Wookie...and even had a wookie call ring tone for my number :)
  • Tank you for the replies. I am not so sure I am starting slow, what I listed is simply all I can manage...I tried to do more once and ended up not being able to move for 3 days...its just that is all I can manage to do.

  • I was on WW for a while but getting to the meetings was a hassle I just didn't want to bother with. I also realized that if you follow a healthy, well balanced diet, you don't have to worry about messing with the points system, since technically this is what the point system is all about.

  • Hey angela..I totally agree! I was just observing that if one really likes soda then cutting it out completely while healthy really ins't satisfying and if you are not satisfied then you will at some point blow it off. Soda's are horrible for you. I am the first to agree and I stopped drinking a ton of them, but I still…
  • I hear ya....I was a HUGE soda drinker and I just don't really like the diets and I am not a huge fan of the water packets..I'd rather drink plain water, which I actually like BTW...but even I want variety and want to eat/drink what I like...the key is portions and moderation...I think splitting pepsi in half is a…
  • Why are you getting so defensive and almost belligerent? I asked an honest question and for all the scientific study and such you keep blathering on about, you have not offered a scientific quote on why it is all a myth. If you don't like the topic or the responses then don't post...no need to snap at me or the other…
  • My freezer/fridge/pantry usually varies as I shop by what is on sale, but in general: boneless chicken breasts whole chickens eggs egg whites pinto beans red beans 100% wheat bread or sarah lee 45 calorie bread fresh veggies that are on sale frozen veggies from past sales that I buy extra and chop up and freeze whatever…
  • Then you are saying that it doesn't matter if you eat 3 hours before bed or 3 minutes....that just doesn't seem right to me. I am not trying to over complicate things, I just want to know how it works correctly. I am making a great effort to adopt a healthy lifestyle that includes eating in ways that is beneficial to my…
  • I realize that once you eat your needed amount of calories that's it..but WHEN to eat them? If you eat 3 hours before bed, lets say you eat at 7pm and go to bed at 10pm and wake at 6am and eat by 7am....so you would not eat anything for 12 hours. The eat hours before bed mindset argues that when you sleep you are only…
  • I think the main thing with sodas is they are considered empty calories....the basic premise of losing weight is eating less calories than you expend.....you don't have to give up your Pepsi if you do it in moderation and count the calories toward the total. You can also look at your food diary and try to replace as much…
  • I don't mean a specific time, for example that would not work for me because I am on a graveyard, I wake up at 3pm and goto bed at 7 am..I exercise somewhere around 2am.....just wondering how long in general..
  • 1/1: 280.6 1/8: 281.8 1/15: 1/22: 1/29 *sigh* I knew I would gain a pound...went right off the diet when I was sick and feeling sorry for myself. Now I will work doubly hard!
  • I am new to this DVD series and have the 5 miles total video but so far can not even complete the first mile so lots of work to do!
  • I just got the 5 mile walking video and started it tonight. I am new to exercising and was only able to do about 8 min of the first mile..but it was definitely a workout as I was totally out of breath and my legs and feet hurt. :) I am very happy with it and will do the first mile everyday until i can move on to the next…
  • Rabbit meat beats out every other meat such as chicken, pork and beef. It is all white meat (as opposed to chicken with white and dark) plus it has lower fat, lower calories, lower cholesterol, highest in protein, and low in sodium. Plus, rabbits (at least the bred ones-not wild) have the highest percentage of meat to…
  • I feel for you....boy do I feel for you! I know how it is to have inlaws riding your butt about various things. You should have your hubby register here so he can get lots and lots of encouragement! :)
  • I agree 100%. Suggesting someone to go ahead and eat doggy poop is NOT constructive. Constructive would be what everyone else is suggesting. The OP was asking for honest help and was totally honest with his hatred of vegetables. Nobody is perfect and it is a cruddy thing to come along and basically tell someone, "Shut up…
  • I am in the same boat...there are a few veggies I like, but most of the ones you should really be eating I can't stand. I also don't think "buck up and discipline yourself" type responses help much..I tried that..I forced myself to eat raw carrots and...blaaaaaarrpph...so no..that doesn't work. Cooking them different ways…

  • I met Casper Van Dien in the lobby of the Bellagio hotel/casino in Las Vegas...... literally ran into him and he knocked me on my butt. :) But I got an autograph so all was cool.
  • Your weight can fluctuate greatly each day, that is why they say it is better to weigh in once a week, but if you want to map your trend then make sure you weigh in at the same time everyday..the best time would be upon waking, after using the restroom and before you eat.
  • Weight Watchers has a nice little article about this very topic. http://www.weightwatchers.com/util/art/index_art.aspx?tabnum=1&art_id=42321&sc=801 You can also get some info from WebMD and other web related sources on women troubles.
