It really depends on where you are and what you are looking for. The one in my hometown did have a lot of dumbbells and only a few barbells in addition to all the cardio and weight equipment. I went and I liked it because I mostly do strength machines and cardio when I couldn't do it outside. The environment was pretty…

Do you know what your weight maintenance calories should be? MFP won't give you any allowance below 1200 calories as it can be dangerous to your health. So, even if you put in 2lbs/week as your weight loss goal, 1200 calories may not actually yield a 2lb/wk weight loss. For example, my maintenance calories for my current…

It sounds like MFP is reducing your calories every time you log your weight loss, which makes sense if it is set to automatically calculate your caloric needs. When you lose weight, your TDEE decreases, so you will need to eat less calories than before in order to have the same deficit. Foe example, if your TDEE was 2000…

I do think it's a little strange that he had the courage to talk to you once, but now, in your eyes, follows you around without saying a word. I can see how that might been seen as "creepy." But, even if the guy is shy and/or his intentions are innocent, that doesn't take away your right to feel the way you feel about the…

If you decide to make it yourself, you might want to try acid-free coffee. You can probably find in Whole Foods or other similar types of stores. It really doesn't taste like coffee at all and all the bitterness is taken out. I don't know how I feel about it personally, I'd have to try it again.

That's what I would guess. Fat has more calories per gram (9) than carbohydrates or protein (both 4), so those that keep the weight off are probably filling them selves up with less calories, i.e. eating more protein and carbs than fat. Obviously you could still eat a high fat diet and keep the weight off if you counted…

Your profile says your are 20 lbs away from your goal of 200 lbs. I don't know your height, but for your age and weight it seems possible, but perhaps a little high. Depending on your height, your sedentary TDEE would be somewhere around 2500-2600 calories. Adding in the weight lifting and walking might put you around 3000…

I take a multivitamin (to fill in any of the important stuff I miss) and and Omega (3, 6, 9) supplement as I don't eat a lot of seafood (especially now that I have moved to a landlocked country). I had the same problem and my doctor prescribed Melatonin and Vitamin D supplements. They have worked wonders for me in…

I can't say for the individual restaurant, as they will all use different amounts of ingredients, but the 10 in. frozen margherita thin crust pizzas I sometimes buy at the supermarket are usually around 800-1000 calories for the whole pizza.

I get this and "Oh, it's because you have skinny genes!" My family has always been thin because we are very active and eat healthy balanced meals, however, I gained a bit of weight when I moved overseas and away from home. I lost the weight fairly quickly when I went back to my old eating and exercising habits, but…

I definitely gained some of the Freshman 15 when I started university, but it was due to a number of controllable factors: - Dining Commons food: Our DC was set up buffet style, so portion control was not only difficult but it was also difficult to estimate portion sizes. On top of that, unlike my mom's healthy,…

Like others have suggested, I would say to get a heart rate monitor. Many people have found that the calorie counts on MFP overestimate calories. Calorie counts on places like MFP are generally calculated for doing a certain activity at a continuous level of effort. So, for example, it may have taken you two hours to clean…

I can attest to this! I think some brands even change their sizing. Over Christmas break I bought a couple of pairs of the "Artist Flare" jeans from American Eagle in size 4 and they fit perfectly. Last week, when I was visiting home, I saw they had the "New and Improved" Artist Flare jean, so I figured I would pick up a…

First, not everyone on here is overweight or obese. Many are here to lose just a few pounds or to get healthy. Second, many people completely swear off the high calorie foods they were eating before because they find they are unable to just eat them in moderation. It takes a lot more salads, veggies and lean meats to meet…

It's usually the precooked weight they refer to, and I am assuming that is the case here as it gives the nutrition information as being for one slice which they estimate to be about 30 g. Sometimes the weight per serving is off, but I doubt it would be off by 3-4 slices.

Actually, her profile says she is 5'9" and 125 lbs. That's a BMI of 18.5, within the healthy range. It may be at the very bottom of that range, but it's still a healthy BMI.

Since you don't have a lot of weight to lose, and therefore probably not a lot of wiggle room with your calorie deficit, I would say get a food scale, it will make your calorie count so much more accurate. You can find one for about $10, so they aren't too expensive. I don't find it any more inconvenient than using…

I do a little bit of both. For the most part, I eat when I'm hungry, but if I get hungry soon after my last snack or meal, I try to put it off a bit (I.e. if I get hungry not too long after breakfast, I try to put it off until at least 11:00 or noon). I won't eat meals before a certain time (like noon for lunch or 5:00 for…

Interesting responses! It's also interesting to see how people's parent's eating habits steered them away from how they ate when they were younger. Same here! I have always been at the lower end of my BMI and I think I can credit it to how my parents presented us with healthy options. My parents always bought more "exotic"…

Did you lose weight rapidly? That can happen to people that lose a lot of weight quickly. If not, it may just be how you lose weight (I lose weight on my waist first but it all eventually evens out). Unless you have always been "lopsided" and not noticed, it will probably even out.

Like everyone else said, up your calories slowly. However, you probably didn't permanently mess up your metabolism. Your metabolism is pretty flexible. It may adjust downward if you eat well below your recommended calories, but it should adjust back to normal as you slowly up your calories.

I saw this too. Just for reference, 1 gallon of water is about 8 lbs, so 32 lbs would be 4 gallons of water. That's a lot of "water weight" and she definitely didn't get most of it from the water she drank before her weight in. I don't doubt that she could do it, but 10 lbs a week definitely seems like quite a lot. That's…

Different things work for different people. I successfully lost some weight on 1200 calories a day and didn't gain it back. I also didn't feel tired or hungry. I think the biggest problem people have is that once they reach their goal, they can go back to eating however they want, or they eat poorly because they have…

I can't answer for anyone else, but for me it was always the comments from the self-appointed nutritionist that I got. I was told to eat more, eat less, eat clean, eat more/less protein/carbs/fats, etc. Food and recipe suggestions are nice, but obviously my method is working for me the way I want it to, otherwise I would…

I think it depends on the person. I always aim high so that I'll fall somewhere where I really want to be. My greatest weakness is that I can never push myself past my goal, even if it is too low and I hit it. If my goal is to run one mile, I'll run one mile, and that will be that, even if I think I could run two or three.…

I don't really believe in "frame size." Body structure definitely varies from person to person but it's not a uniform variation, different people will have different sized parts. Body fat percentage will be more telling. As for a reason as to why wrist measurements to determine frame size are ridiculous: I was always…
-
I think it depends on the person, the body fat percentage and how much you have to lose. I am currently about 135 and a size 4-6, but i know when I was around 125 I was closer to a size 2. I am not only heavier than I used to be, but also flabbier, which may be why I am only 10 pounds heavier but two sizes larger.

I have never used them (or heard of them) but looking at the ingredients there doesn't seem to be anything really harmful in them (as long as you are an otherwise healthy individual). That being said, most of the "active" ingredients are unproven "fad" fat loss ingredients. Here is a breakdown: - Vitamin B6: It is involved…

#27. Substitute one half of a Cheese and Tomato Five-Grain Crust Pizza instead of a whole Uno's Chicago Grill Deep Dish Individual Pizza.
