  • You've definitely hit a low weight. However, Cardio makes your body smaller but weights can change the shape. Im not sure why you're adverse to strength training. Look at the success stories on the forums. So many really changed their body shape. I love The Firm workouts lots of squats, plies, leg presses etc. beach body…
  • I broke out my oldish Firm DvDs. They're really a great workout, using hand weights & their "firm box" but any aerobics step will do. The Ab Sculpt DVD leaves me sore for days after. Give it a try. You only need a mat & a 14" step (any work tbh) http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wP8KOC_XEHM
  • I don't think this was mentioned so it. In my case my clothing was all stretched near the breaking point. If you've stretched your clothing it may be as much as a 1/2 or more bigger than what it was when purchased. I started at 278 and it was like a good 40lbs before i noticed the weight loss. Soon after i started blowing…
  • I really like THE FIRM DVD series (body sculpting system 1 & 2 are favs). They use a 14" step and the motion of stepping up tones your but and thighs. While not exactly like gym weights youre still lifting your body weight plus hand weights. You can check out the older videos (complete with 80s leg warmers) on you tube
  • That's a really interesting article. I don't know if i could do it tho. Every time ive allowed myself to not be diligent (im still aware but maybe have an extra cookie, a few more carbs, or not weigh) i gain weight back. I started at 278 so obviously i have issues with food .... Most likely ill always need the crutch of a…
  • I actually love THE FIRM DVD series & free hand weights & a step. If you have Apple TV ($99) you can play you tube right on tv.
  • Wow i love this tread. I've lost 89lbs and am having a hard time with my mind catching up. I went shopping and walked into the GAP. Looked around and was like i can't fit into any of this. (even though i have two pairs of very old GAP jeans that do). Then went to a second hand store and found a pair of size 12 banana…
  • I refused to give up my regular full fat milk in my coffee. It's about 1/2c (75 cals) im not a fan of flavored creamers and using rice milk made me miserable. I look at it this way i get to eat 1200 calories, so i make darn sure each and every one of them is something i love.
  • I agree with walking. You'll be surprised just how quickly you'll build up. Go for distance rather than speed, essentially under 5+ mph its all about distance. Walking 2miles at 2mph for 60 mins burns same calories as 2miles at 4mph for 30 mins. Plug it in you'll see. I started at 278, and tbh moving at that weight was a…
  • Zumba! In my class we have everyone from little kids to the very elderly. There's a ton of modifications because the goal is to follow the beat. For example if you can't do leg lifts. No problem! Do toe taps. It's just staying to the beat. And super fun.
  • I love my fitbit but exercise is only part of it. 80% of weight loss is calorie counting and eating at a deficit.
  • Have the flex love it! The band isn't bad, not crazy stylish either. That being said fitbit announced they partnered with a jewlery designer and a line of bands for the flex come out this spring. ❤️ I've noticed it's really forced me to keep moving. I pace rather than sit when waiting etc.
  • Happens to me every time- Pasta bread or rice. I limit those foods and prepare for. 1-2lb gain on the scale. It's gone in a couple of days.
  • Running does burn more calories than just walking yes. Be careful while doing C25k, don't forget you can repeat weeks if you need to. At your weight, walking alone will burn significant calories without as much stress on your joints. I started at 278 and going 2.6 miles in 45 minutes is amazing!!! If you really want to go…
  • I was going to get the Force but a quick read of amazon reviews changed my mind. Apparently fitbit changed the band/clasp and many many many people posted that the force fell off and they lost it. Oh and the way its designed you can't change the band. That being said i love my fitbit flex. I like that if the band gets…
  • When you look at nutrition label before purchasing to compute a REAL portion size & calories. For example today this happened: ooh ravioli are on sale! look at ravioli. See 4 ravioli/serving is 290 cals. Knows i can't eat just 4 ravioli (who eats only 4 ravioli?!?!) ,so a REAL portion is say 12 ravioli, or 870 calories,…
  • Just out of curiosity how do you know your VO2? :embarassed:
  • Only really bad fat is transfats. I try to stay under saturated fats too. But transfats should be avoided completely.
  • I agree. Best $100 I spent in 2013. I have the ninja pulse. I think a big advantage is the one i purchased came with two blenders, 2 single serve cups and a food processor attachment. It has a dough mixer but ive never used that lol. Ooh on a side note, i bought mini ice cube trays. I think they give less wear and tear no…
  • That is amazing!! Im hoping to have a post similar to that one day.
  • I had a crappy c25k day today. Im hanging out on week 2, I've been doing well at 4.6/3.5 but today i just couldn't do it. So i did a few between 4-4.5/3.3 and the last one i pushed and did a 4.7/3.5. I needed a win. Then i walked for another couple miles after to total of 4.
  • At 5'5" & 141lbs you are at goal weight. It'll be slow.
  • Im not sure if cardio is for me but i see it changing my body and i love that!! Lol. Im going to redo week 2. I was better today. I even did a 3.5 mile walk after. So hopefully it'll pass. Thank you!!!
  • That's Amazing!!! Great job!!!
  • Lost my first 50lbs by watching diet only. Followed calories given by MFP so i was under for the week. I do a free meal once a week. I track the calories but have what I want. I make sure my weekly calories are under tho.
  • I think you can if you pay for it in mapmy____ whatever products. Im debating.
  • I stalked your profile. You look amazing. Great job!! A few things come to mind. 1. Do you think your mind hasn't caught up to the loss yet? It can take 12 weeks for your brain to catch up after maintenance starts. 2. Maybe its finding the right strength training at this point. Weight loss shrinks your body, building…
  • Oh honey. Take a deep breath. I can give you my theory on this. Keep it easy. Unless you have some underlying medical issue put aside everything except total calories. Pick one goal: Staying under your calories for the day. When i first started at 278lbs i didn't even realize just HOW out of proportion my food was. Hubby &…
  • For me i weigh calorie dense food like meats nuts & cheeses. Weighing while technically more accurate, weighing feels like an extra step vs measuring cup *shrugs*. The difference between 85g of broccoli (1c) and 93.5g (10% more) is like 8.5 calories. At this point, for me, it doesn't seem like the time vs benefit of doing…
