Good for you for learning/educating yourself/knowing what your body needs. I recently finished Chalean Extreme and LOVED It, and wasn't crazy/weird like P90X and I definitely saw results. Leaner, stronger, and I lost a few pant sizes. Though, I've always taken a simple approach when it comes to diet/exercise. I used some…

Ick! powdered peanut butter! It doesn't taste like the real stuff at all. The only thing it may be good for is smoothies. That Better Than PB junk is soupy and super sweet. I'm a purist, I either make my own PB or buy the natural stuff that has three ingredients.

That sounds like an absolute nightmare, I hate killing myself with exercise, it is so un-fun on every level. Most of those workouts include mealplans and are all about "fueling' your body, I guess you thought you would lose quicker or something? I trust the scale, though, I realize it's only ONE indicator of weight loss. I…

I use a heart rate monitor to accurately track calorie burn.

What most people consider "starvation" mode only occurs after months of sustained malnutrition (think famine cultures around the world). If you're eating 1200 cals/day, you're not "starving" yourself.

My best homemade "cleanse" is: Eating whole foods Drinking enough water Getting enough sleep. My body is incredibly efficient at cleansing itself. Works like a charm every time.

A true plateau doesn't occur after only two weeks. A true plateau is exsperienced after *at least* six weeks of the scale completely stalling out. Aiming for almost 3 lbs. a week seems a bit lofty and unreasonable (especially over the holidays), but hey, shoot for the stars I guess. My suggestion, face the scale, keep…

Sounds like your friend is bordering on an eating disorder if they look THAT unhealthy. In which case, I'd say it's not your place to say anything. If anything, you shouldn't enable a less than ideal situation and leave it at that.

My understanding of "spot toning" has nothing to do with cardio. Spot toning is the act of doing say, 100 situps every day to flatten your belly. Sure, the situps will strengthen the muscles, but it won't burn the fat. Therefore, it's essential to do cardio AND weight/resistence training.

The scale lies, google the article "why the scale lies" for more insight. Also, muscle does not weigh more than fat, it just takes up less space. 5 lbs. of muscle weighs exactly the same as 5 lbs. of fat ;)

I rely on exercise for overall good health with the bonus that it aids in (my) weight loss. Not all weeks/months are created equal. I like to keep my workouts varied to avoid getting stuck in a rut. If you're only a few weeks into an exercise regiment, I doubt your body is getting used to it.

"I would avoid Chinese or Japanese restaurants because of the Sodium content. Chili's and Applebees have good 'Light' menu choices." Seems like an oxymoron right there. Just because a menu item is "light" doesn't mean it's less sodium and Chili's and Applebees are some of the worst sodium offenders out there. To the…

It's hard to say, everyone is different. The only thing I do know for sure is you cannot spot tone, and cardio burns fat.

It's a phased hormone weight loss treatment that results in big/rapid losses.

Numbers (ie. the scale or your bmi) are only one indicator of success. Speak to yourself in a positive voice, start feeling good about yourself with the knowlege that you ARE doing something good for yourself. Better to not set yourself up for failure and instead, set mini-goals. For example: this week I will eat 5…

Are you talking about flavored seltzer or that flavored fizzy water that has artificial sweetner in it?

I've always heard it takes 48-72 hours for nicotine to get out of your circulatory system, after that, it's all psychological. I used a quit smoking application on my iPhone, worked like a charm.

I hope it works for you. Good luck! I prefer to lose weight slowly; it's more sustainable to maintain slow losses, i don't have to worry about saggy skin, it's easier on my internal organs, and, I know if I do it the good old fashioned way, I'll be learning how to make better choices along the way.

Um. Okay, that's passive agressive AND bizzare.

Seems pretty expensive to me.

<<< totally relaxed. "But your stance is that unless you are a doctor or someone well known on t.v. then your experience means nothing" Really? Where are you getting that from? Because I never said that, that's quite an extrapolation and kind bizzare. To be very clear, I never said she should/shouldn't take diet pills. I…

I am not reading where anyone is poo-pooing the originial poster for being curious about diet pills. What I am reading is everyones (key word) opinions about diet pills, what is exactly what the poster asked for. And, when someone says "Feel free to contact me with questions. Better to be fully informed. " as if to suggest…
-
No offense, but how is relying on the "advice" of a stranger, about OTC diet pills at all informative? Ultimately, I would hope the original poster would decide what's right for her and research it for herself. No better way to educate oneself, in my opinion.

Seems like you answered your own question: "I have lost 50 pounds the natural way and I will continue to do what I have been doing (i.e. watching my calorie intake and working out)." Save your money and spend it on something more worthwhile, such as new sneakers or a new workout dvd, or a studio class of some kind. Why…

Your body is quite efficient at cleansing itself with proper nutrition (to include high fiber & healthy fats), proper hydration, and adequate rest. It's about as cheap & easy as it comes.

Yeah, I would want to stab somebody with that three day plan. I find that once I recommit to my diet, I naturally lose a bunch of water weight the first week. Thus, I've jump started the whole process.

Being able to distinguish hunger from cravings helps. Seems like you know the difference. Will power will get you far. You have to want to make the change, nobody can do that for you.

Weigh in only on your actual weigh in day, UNLESS you can handle the (sometimes hourly) fluctuations. It sounds like you can't. Some people are motivated by the false numbers they read daily, other's can't really handle it. Be consistent about your weigh ins and you should have success in the long run.

I agree, $200 is a lot of money, for one person to spend on "eating clean" in one month. Buying in bulk is a great way to feed yourself on the cheap. Here are some other tips. Four Tips to Start Eating Healthy for Less Today 1. Listen to Gandhi. Yes, Gandhi! He said that we should never mistake what is habitual for what is…

If hunger is not the problem, food is not the answer. Life happens, you're going to have to figure out how to prioritize your problems, tackle them one at a time, and keep busy OUT of the kitchen.
