I was diagnosed like 7 years ago, maybe more. It took some time to balance the meds, but I knew when I was off, I could feel it (this is rare). You can lose even as with the meds off, but it does make it harder. There are are so many other reasons too to get your levels even. I have Hashimoto's, which apparently is very…

I didn't read all the comments, but here is my 2 cents on when you eat. Do what works for you! I find grazing to be better for me overall. If I don't have snacks I overeat.

My daughter is a lesbian and has been involved in LGBT community at school. We are lucky living just outside NY it is a large community and lots of support. However, you still see too much anti LGBT. One of her best friend's parents refers to her and another friend as "those gays". It is a shame so many people have closed…

I follow John Barrowman and he posted some great stuff from DragonCon. Looked awesome :)

Here is the deal. If you push too hard you can extend being sick. Taking a day off may give you the rest you need to feel better. Don't feel guilty if you are sick. However, I use this basic philosophy: 1- If I am congested and it is only from the neck up, will workout (unless my nose is leaking too much then hitting gym…

I am not a morning and never will be. I can do morning workouts sometimes, but they can't be too early. The earliest I do is 6am and its really hard. Even sleeping later I hit snooze over and over. I will even sleep right through the alarm at times. So mostly I do evening workouts and the trick is if you go to the gym,…

Yes that happens to me. Sometimes it is a signal I need a day off, sometimes it is just a bad day. Usually it is only one day and then I am fine :)

@68myra good luck. That is rough and you are not being callous with your emotional detachment, it is sometimes required when dealing with those with mental illness in order for you not to go down or enable them. The only way people get the help they need is to seek it themselves. Rose - Oh I get the "they won't understand"…

I have same issue. I do great then I slide. Work sucks, I get overwhelmed, but this time I refuse to give up and am working hard to get back on track!!! It's a balancing act and a whole change in lifestyle. Takes time to change.

I totally understand. My daughter is 21 and she is struggling with anxiety. She was home from school for summer and I had to walk on eggshells at times. I have anxiety too. I think she blows it out of proportion at times, others it's real. She puts too much pressure on herself. I tell her it's ok and if it's not perfect or…

I can not get up before 6 on a regular. I tried it and end up sleeping through the alarm. I will even shut it off in my sleep. Mornings are hard. So for me after work is better generally, but lately had trouble with that so moved to mornings. Now I do a combination and plan it. I get up in the morning when I can, if not…

Actually you should be eating more. You are starving yourself and not even eating enough to run your body. You need a certain amount of calories to keep your body going. You should never eat less than 1200 calories and if you are really burning 800 a day you probably want to be eating about 1500.

I go in phases and restart a lot. It is actually so much more than motivation if you think about. Why do you give up? Is it just because you lost motivation? Did you get tired of tracking? Did you say to yourself "I can eat this" over and over because you had success? Did you not see change fast enough and get discouraged?…

I get that a lot too "why would you go to the gym on vacation?" and I answer "because I like it and want to stay in shape" the people telling you that look at exercise as work, not something enjoyable. I think exercise should be fun, so it is part of what I do.

I think its a joke too. My husband is the perfect weight for his height (used to be underweight). However, he is totally out of shape, very little muscle, drinks Vitamin water or sugary drinks, eats like no veggies (great with fruit though). He has high cholesterol and stomach issues. Also has trouble sleeping. Me I am…

I don't think BMI is the best indicator. I am definitely overweight at 5'2 and 175lbs, but no one would call me obese. However, the BMI says I am obese. The only time you have to worry about the BMI, is what do they use as a measure for obese when getting health insurance.

I always pack to use the gym. However, depending on the type of vacation my routine changes. Like I am going on a Cruise in October, I will be bringing my workout clothes and will hit the gym. However, in January i am going to Universal and Disney and will be walking all day long and going on tons of rides. So when i pack…

Yes lots of tests over the years. She has been getting sick. Just randomly throwing up since about age 8. She is finally doing well and only gets sick rarely now.

@GaleHawkins I am 49, so not so young. But my brother was diagnosed in his 20s and I think if he had not been at that time, he would be really really sick now at age 47. I think you are right about diet. Many times we overlook how much what we eat effects us. It should not just be about weight, it should be about health.…

My brother can not have any sugar or starches at all because of the Yeast build in his system. Actually he was losing weight for no reason, got really skinny, went to a bunch of doctors and nothing. Finally went to an Atkins doctor and when he changed his diet like that, he started gaining and much healthier. Even eating a…

I am so excited :)

Mine is Stress - I can navigate the other stuff, even have a drink now and again, but the stress eating is what is killing me.

Awesome, sounds fun, challenging and relaxing :)

I agree, changing medication like that should be done with your Doctor or Psychiatrist. Personally my anxiety is generally mild and can be overcome. Exercise, especially Yoga really helps me. Hormonal imbalances make it worse. My daughter has it too, It is really hard to deal with and I am not blowing you off with my…

I have that same cycle. 1/2 time don't even reach goal weight before I crash and burn. The trick is to be like Ok I wasn't perfect, but I am going to keep going. It is really hard to adapt new habits. Exercise is easy for me, food not so much.

The only good advice I got on this is that if you are doing cardio and lifting on the same day, you may want to lift first if you will be tired after doing your cardio. Other than that as far as best benefit and all that crap, it makes no difference. Personally I like to Circuit training or classes that get your heart rate…

Didn't read all the replies but I understand. My parents were the worst, I bought your favorite cookies. Next day. Don't eat that you will get fat. Thanks. My husband isn't supportive cause all the women he knew who lost weight divorced their husbands. I said they lost cause they were miserable with their spouse. I'm not…

A wine Spritzer - Wine with club soda will allow you to drink a little bit more. If you drink mixed drinks it is the mixer that will get you. You can look on line for low calorie drinks. But I agree wine is a good choice. Personally I like the hard stuff will do a shot or 3 of Tequila :)

I agree, if you can have one or two drinks don't stress it. However, not all beverages are created equal, keep that in mind. Margarita from a restaurant is like 700 calories because of the mixer, but a shot of Patron is like 50 calories (not being exact). Personally I will have about 3 or 4 drinks per week. Sometimes more,…

There are lots of studies about the best times to workout. However, none of that matters because the best time to workout is the time of day you will go. If you are not a morning person and decide to workout at 5am everyday, you will not stick with it. The workout that works the best is the one you like and will continue…
