  • I'd say 1500 calories is too low. In fact, if I were you, I'd say 1800 calories is too low. I wouldn't drop below 2000 a day, but I guess everyone is different. It helps to be active to increase the calories you can eat too.

  • If I'm ill then losing weight is no longer really a concern. In fact, I would probably try to eat maintenance to help my body recover.
  • It doesn't seem to have dropped below 0*C here once yet, which I'm quite disappointed about. I would happily not have all the wind and rain we are having and have a little ice instead. Though, I don't drive, and do not currently have much need to go any further than the 10 minute walk to the gym.
  • Yeah, no. Basically ignore all of this unless you have some sort of medical reason to monitor your sugar intake, or if you find that too much sugar is making you feel sluggish or unsatiated. I have a low sugar diet just so I can fit more food in with the same calories, allowing me to get more macronutrients and feel fuller…
  • I love carbs, I eat as many as I can to get the best results, and it hasn't hindered my weight loss. The type of carbs I eat, however, are generally limited to vegetables and rice.
  • It's hard to say, but if working your quads and glutes isn't what you are looking for then I would suggest trying exercises which isolate your hip abductor muscles to try to build them up.
  • I would consume more than 1300 calories per day if I were you, but it's your choice. When you first start losing weight you will lose a lot from water, maybe even 10lbs or more, so you will lose more over the first two or three weeks. You may be able to lose around 15lbs-30lbs by mid-April, but it is better not to try to…
  • You won't lose muscle after a couple of days, unless you are eating too large a caloric deficit. I don't know if there are any exact figures, but I've heard it takes around ten days before you start to have any real effects from stopping working out. You don't have to take 'extra protein' right after your workout, and if…
  • Boy George. Peter Jackson. Christian Bale. 50 Cent. Kelly Osbourne.
  • 4lb in three weeks is good. If you lose too much too quickly you may sacrifice strength and muscle. You could either eat at maintenance and let your body recomposition slowly, or eat at a 250-500 daily calorie deficit to lose 0.5lb-1lb per week without too much effect on your strength/muscle. Working out how much you burn…
  • 'Eat less, work out more' works, but only if these things put you in the caloric deficit you need to lose weight without negatively affecting your health.
  • MFP doesn't tell you how much you need to burn, it tells you how much you need to consume. It is up to you how much you burn.
  • Three times a week full body will probably get you better results than a bro split. In a typical bro split you are only really hitting each muscle group hard once per week, which means for the other six days it's not really getting much encouragement to grow. Full body three times a week, on the other hand, means that as…
  • Not enough, I hate cardio. I try to do 20-30mins, 3 times per week, but I haven't been hitting this goal recently.
  • Isn't chlorogenic acid more from green coffee than raspberry ketones? I looked on google and couldn't find any studies to back up your claims unfortunately.
  • Are "cottage cheese areas" like what I get if I don't shower for weeks?
  • No, you probably didn't put your body in starvation, but you probably damaged your metabolism a little. 500-900 calories is too low. In fact, 1200 calories is probably too low. Eat a decent amount of calories, and then you won't need cheat days, and you won't need to punish yourself after the cheat days by dropping you…
  • The only way you will really know is by changing/cutting out shakes and seeing if there is a difference.
  • Could you link these studies please?
  • You don't necessarily need to eat "healthy" foods. If you are getting cravings it may be that you aren't eating enough of the right things, or you calorie goal is too low/restricted.
  • The reason that most aren't supporters of cleanses is because we haven't run across one that anyone actually got real results from My advise is to not look for a cleanse or do a cleanse.

  • Go and eat. With the amount of concern you have about it, it seems unlikely that you will "slip back into old habits". Soon the holiday period will be over and you can get back on track. There is no rush.
  • Yeah, I have to do this. If I don't I've either gone over at the end of the day, or have a random number of calories/macros to fill in and nothing which fits the hole. I know it's obsessive and not an ideal way to eat, and I'm jealous of the people that don't have to do things this way
  • If you have failed so many times then you will probably fail again unless you try to do something differently. I don't know what you mean by 'eating right', but it may be here where you are going wrong.
  • Going to the gym that obsessively, being worried about having a few drinks, and "punishing" yourself with extra exercise to make up for it sounds like you either have, or are developing, some sort of body image disorder, which you should probably do something about.
  • How much were you set to lose per week? Were you eating back your exercise calories? 1kg per week is probably too much if your main concern in keeping muscle. To preserve muscle it's probably best to stay around 0.5lb-1lb per week loss, with around 0.8g or protein per pound of bodyweight. MFP doesn't include workout…
  • Don't follow percentages, they aren't that useful. Find out roughly how many calories your body needs just to maintain itself. Then add about 250 calories on top of that for building muscle. Any days when you exercise, add the estimated calories you burned off from exercise and eat those too. Give it a couple of weeks, and…
  • There isn't really a normal. I can't remember the science behind it, so I'm going to try to explain the random parts I remember and hope that what I come out with isn't complete nonsense. During sleep were go through cycles of different types of sleep. Each night you need a certain amount of cycles. For each person, these…
  • Yerp. Stopping recording what you are eating once you have got to a certain point is like quitting your job just because you finally bought the house you wanted.
