Your profile states you have 245lbs to lose . . . so assuming an average weight of like 175 as your goal, then 245 + 175 = 420 lbs approx starting weight (give or take for margin of error, of course) When your body is bigger you burn more calories just to stay alive because it takes so much more energy to just move or…

So here's the unfortunate part about your situation, and you nailed it in your post: you're only 5'2 and don't have much room for error due to having a smaller frame. For example, right now you're at 60 KG which is 132 lbs. I have had body composition analysis testing done and at 5'10 and 255 lbs I have just under 140lbs…

Absolutely! Add away :)

For fat loss, unfortunately, you really have to tighten up your diet. There's a couple things to help though - and it depends on what your end goals are so take all things into consideration here. One would be if you really just want to lose the weight and are not looking to really improve LBM then cardio is the way to go.…

So are you receiving psychiatric care for something related to food/consumption issues? Also, in order to gain muscle you have to eat at a surplus . . . and as a woman, you can realistically expect it could take about a year to 18 months to actually gain that type of muscle mass - depending on your routine, eating habits…

I love your graphs and stats . . . you're very much like me in how I look at, plus I also love anything to do with charting or manipulative data . . . I like you. Let's be friends :)

I think you're really missing the point. There are more nutritionally sound options to be found on the McDonalds menu, and there are some not so great nutrition wise. That being said, I feel the reason people often say things like you can't lose weight eating fast food/it's really bad for you/have to cut it out/etc etc is…

Then this is not the forum to ask. But also - from what I've seen is not just having a big butt that's a trend . . . it's the general shape of it and whether you have that definition curve in your lower back heading to your butt. Some women have it, some don't. Also there's a lot to be said for the shape of your butt in…

I live squarely in the everything in moderation camp. I could have probably lost a lot more weight in the same time period as I've lost almost 90lbs by not indulging every now and then however for me, it's a sanity thing and I enjoy that aspect of having a social life. That being said, majority of the time I am tight with…

What you said in your original post was nothing I haven't heard before - really. You made have chosen different vocabulary or re-arranged the points but I've heard it. I was 340lbs - I was significantly over weight. I would also argue that while your approach worked for you - which is fantastic, by the way - it may not…

I would say that CICO is very useful in theory and in reality, and I do agree that many who are considered obese or morbidly obese will relapse into old habits . . . I think I read once that long term success of those who are obese or morbidly obese is less than 10% or something. Anyways, I would also argue that there is…

Ha ha that makes sense . . . it wouldn't be super beneficial - I don't think - to ask people what they ate 30+ years ago - I couldn't even tell you what I ate 3 months ago. I mean I could guess and then go check my log but without a log, I couldn't tell you. I just know that even now if someone I know eats something they…

If they are taking from self-reported data then I agree that the numbers are not accurate. I didn't read the link, but really how many people are honestly going to say they're eating more now than they did in the 80s? Many people are in denial and are going to say they're eating the same and exercising the same so…

This is an amazing transformation! Also love that you noted you added LBM too. :)

So I don't want to negate your dreams - trust me, I'm the last person who would ever want to shut down someones dreams - but there may be some validity to what you're doctor is saying . . . I don't know exact weights, but hear me out, k? I started at 340 ish lbs . . . that's pretty big. I am down to just under 260lbs now -…

I agree with this. Some women may really, totally, completely, without hesitation be happy being 250+ lbs. Some might be. I can't judge them but I know for me I wasn't. Sure, I'd have a day here or there where I was like I feel great today, I have a partner who loves me and supports me, I have a great job, etc etc. But it…

I'm definitely not advocating for WLS but realistically if someone is large enough to require that to be done then don't you think having the surgery so they can become mobile again is also a goal? The surgery itself is not a magic pill, it still takes a heck of a lot of discipline to continue going after you have that…

If you gained it again, clearly it wasn't successful long term. And if you can gain that much (20 lbs) by being just a little off track than either you're way more off track than you think, or you were actually gaining it back for longer than you think you were. Either way, you're here again (as in needing to lose weight)…

How is that a good idea, and what would it accomplish? OP mentions disordered eating/relationship with food in history so I would think that skipping breakfast in what would probably later lead to bingeing is not the best path.
-
Wait, are you eating 1800 calories or LIKE 1800 calories? Even going over by 200 - 300 calories/day would add up to an extra 1400 - 2100 calories/week or a potential extra 20 ish lbs per year if this isn't less than your TDEE and you aren't consuming less than you burn on a regular basis.

Not sure what my needed swears are . . . but I don't have like a daily target, I just spew profanity here and there and it looks better than a bunch of asterisks in my opinion. . . thank goodness no one's quality of care is in my hands with that one. Also - maybe nurses are not the same where you are as they are here but…

I didn't say acting like a doctor but to be "rude" to a patient would be considered unprofessional or having inappropriate bedside manner, no? They're obviously not doctors, but they're probably still pretty concerned about it. If you went into the ICU for an ED and to get treatment that's good that they were compassionate…

Alright so let's look at another view point: doctors. Doctors can and will tell patients directly they need to lose weight, they need to stop smoking, they need to avoid salt, whatever. And some doctors have zero, I mean ZERO bedside manner. I get that it's always nicer to have a doctor who seems at least human but the…

Maybe - but here's another way to look at it: many studies have shown that a chunk of healthy eating habits develop in child hood/early teenage years, and that these habits can stick with people for many years. With this in mind, perhaps the medium wasn't the best way to go about it but the message is kind of unchanged.…

I have to admit that while she maybe could have been nicer about the way she said things and maybe someone else could've said it, but I have to agree with her overall message. I am all about loving yourself and being the best self you can be, but really if you're morbidly obese and you can't even walk 10 feet without…

A burger king double whopper has anywhere from 770 to 1,070 calories . . . not sure of the range, maybe to allow for condiments but that's as per their own website. I know I've done it before - work out a little longer, run a little faster, run that extra 1/2 or full mile just to get that calorie burn in. Whatever the case…

So I am not at a size 12 . . . yet! But for some perspective, I was 340 - 350 lbs on the left and I'm now down to 260lbs and I wear a 14/16 depending on cut. I am 5'10 approx. It takes time, but there's definitely a difference in how I look now vs what I was at. Still super motivating for me, anyways.
-
So what exactly do you mean by I stick pretty close to that most of the time and I weigh and measure most of my food? If you don't have an accurate picture of what you're eating, you could unknowingly be eating waaaaay more than you thought you were. Also, it can take time to see a consistent loss. It is also recommended…

No, not at all. Everyone has an amount of their body considered lean mass (muscle, bones, organs, tissue, etc) and an amount which is fat mass. When people say lose weight, they typically mean they want to lose fat mass because, let's be real, you could cut off a limb a technically "lose weight". To lose fat mass =/=…
