too bad you don't drink... enough liquid courage and you'd be speeching up a storm in no time:wink: seriously though, i have severe stage fright, and yet somehow manage to bellydance in front large crowds. practice helps calm the nerves, and remembering that everyone is there to have a good time. especially at weddings!…

i really like flavored mineral waters, like crystal geyser or calistoga. they are carbonated, so i don't miss soda, and they're flavored. the best part is they have no calories, so i can drink 2 18 oz bottles a day and never crave a coke!

you'll be expected to give a speech, but you'll also be expected to cry. when my sister got married, me and all the other brides maids cried from the moment we walked down the aisle. it was pathetic, but very sweet:blushing: i bet you'll look pretty hot in that red dress:love:

congrats on your wedding:heart: you will be a beautiful bride no matter what the scale says:flowerforyou:

thanks for the support. i just performed my dance for another troupe member and she liked it! i'm feeling a lot less nervous now, but will probably run through it another million time tonight :ohwell:

congrats on your loss! its always nice to hear success stories, it keeps everyone motivated. i love mfp too. it has seriously changed the way i think about eating and exercise. mike is my hero!

its the beginning of spring, the perfect time to renew your goals and stick with them! :flowerforyou:

happy easter mfp's:smile: on tuesday, i'll be bellydancing with the troupe at a local community college. i am super nervous about the sword dance i'm doing (balancing a sword on my head while dancing). please send me happy, balanced thoughts while i practice today and on tuesday. dropping sword bad:embarassed: on the plus…

sounds you like you need a day off from work, boyfriend, and dad. so take it! do whatever you want tomorrow, if thats going to the gym, going for a walk, shopping, whatever you enjoy! :flowerforyou: my husband's a slob, and i find that when i get really frustrated with him, getting away helps me calm down. then, i can come…

i loved UK coupling! for awhile they were showing it on my local pbs. both my and my husband watched it every week. then the american version came out, on the air for about 2 weeks i think, and it was horrible! but the UK show is too funny:laugh:

thanks for all of the great suggestions! i should have excuse for going back to soda now.
-
i love bengal spice too! you're right, it is hard to find. i've never tried it cold though. i also like eve's idea of added a little bit of juice to water. thanks ladies!

i was raised on coca-cola, and i've tried really hard to kick soda. i'm doing pretty good, cuz i found crystal geyser flavored mineral water. no calories and its carbonated! i like them a lot, but i'm also trying to drink less bottled water (trying to reduce my carbon footprint blah blah blah). anyone have any suggestions…

like a broken record, i have to saw it again.... bellydance! works all those areas, and its fun! i have an 8-pack under my tummy fat, no more back pain, and better posture. try it!

eat it! my mom is sending me a 2 POUND box of See's. I plan to eat it all, over time, with my husband.

Have you ever thought about LARPing? You could combine your love of WOW with physical activity:tongue: Blaze of Glory is a kick *kitten* song!

for very isolated movements with some yoga, check out Rachel Brice's 2 dvd's. both are great. also, i've heard fabulous things about suhaila salimpour's work out dvd's. if you're looking for straight technique and not so much in the cardio, jillina's dvd's are also great, she has excellent technique!

thanks ladies. you're right mary, i shouldn't expect to keep up this rate forever. but i'll take it while it lasts

i lost 3.4 pounds this week!!! but the scale doesn't even compare to how much better i feel. i have more energy (drinking less coffee at work), i sleep better, and i feel happier. amazing:happy: now for the silly questions. if my projected weight loss is supposed to be 1 pound a week, should i be concerned about losing…

we've all been there. i find that taking small steps helps me stay focused. its not realistic for me to workout everyday, so i don't. i don't beat myself up for it either. set realistic work out goals for yourself, and feel free to adjust them. try something fun, like bellydancing, that doesn't feel like work! as for food,…

working on a new solo for a performance at the end of the month, my first time doing veil work on stage! a little nervous about it, but i'm reading 'grandmothers secrets' and its very inspiring. makes me give out hip scarfs to strangers and make them shimmy:tongue: what about you? anything new in your dance world?
-
that already happened to me! :grumble: i grabbed a bottle and when i got home saw i'm supposed to take 3 times a day. and the pills are huge! and they have a gross vanilla coating. there's a whole foods about 20 miles away, so i can make the trip.

i'm on a new medication, and my doctor says i should take a calcium supplement if there's a history of osteoporosis in my family (which there is). i am not a vitamin/supplement taking kind of person, and i was totally overwhelmed by the amount of supplements at the grocery store! does anyone have recommendations that…

the serving size is one cup, not one egg. one egg makes less than a cup right?

yep, my weekly bill went up by about $30. if i can get my butt up on the weekend, i'm going to try shopping the farmers markets we have here. i like the idea of supporting local farmers, and it can be cheaper than the grocery store. other than that, i have no idea. still trying to figure it out too...

any of Oojami's albums. He's a turkish guy living in the UK, and he mixes club beats with middle eastern music. bellydancers love Oojami because its so 'user friendly' to people unfamiliar with world music. also good for workouts because the songs have very consistent up-tempo beats 'bellydancing breakbeats' is my favorite…

i second fat dancer! bellydancing works all of your core muscles, and its fun. a few minutes of practicing belly rolls and flutters makes me sore, plus you can do them at your desk:tongue:

i just joined mfp last week, and when i started really thinking about what i was eating, it was easily in the 4000 range some days. its awful how unaware we are about what we put in our mouths! i really never thought about, and now i regret how flippantly i ate a double western bacon cheeseburger. nothing good in that at…

just a thought on all this... a year before i got married, i decided i was going to lose like 40 pounds. well, that didn't happen, i lost about 10. but i did drop two dress sizes (muscle weighs more than fat?). i wasn't skinny on my wedding day, but i was fit and HAPPY! that's the most important thing. don't focus on…

So true! My primary instructor has a very energetic style, very american cabaret. I find myself dancing more modern egyptian, like tamalyn dallal, more controlled and isolated. I wish I had started younger too, like at birth! Ah well, at least I'm dancing now, and I really think its the best form of aerobic exercise!
