OMG, you are right! I must be hangry! Afterall, it has been awhile since that one has been thrown out here. Sigh, I actually wished we did get along. But there are, generally speaking, two very distinct philosophies on this board, and as long as there are, there will be...this.

Magnesium supplements. Take one morning and at night. Not only are they good for you, inexpensive, they are the best "regulator" I have ever used. Stop with the cereal for breakfast. Have an egg. Have low cal/carb toast with peanut butter. Eat protein.

I use agave and I add it to my pancake batter for portion control. They come out pre-sweetened.

Controversy over drinking water??? Someone needs a life. OP - welcome to MFP. I read your profile and if you are thinking this may be a good place to evangelize and spread the good word about health and end obesity, you may be sadly disappointed. But you got a nice slice of what you can expect. But nice start, you manage…

Actually, not so. That is a very American and 12 step view of alcoholism. It is treated as a dietary (gasp) issue in many other countries and there are moderation programs also. There are many people who also go on to be able to use alcohol reasonably after a period abstinence. Not so black and white. So what that they…

Never heard of shoulder. Patches on the butt check and lower abs. Cream on the inside of my thighs and inner arms.

Throwing away perfectly good food is no way to manage your food addiction.

I really resent the fact that you are willing to give up things you hate. You are setting yourself up to fail, obsess, and binge. This is not an answer to your gluttony. You MUST eat the things you hate in moderation. And Uni? Really? WhoTF gives up eating Uni?

Some of us have changed our relationship with food. We broke it off. The foods I choose not to eat are in my house, at my job, in every grocery store and restaurant I go to. I can eat them morning, noon, and night, if I CHOOSE to and do not obsess over them. I have free will. I choose to exercise it in the way the suits me…

I agree with you entirely. Oreos as so meh. On the carb/sugar thing. Having taken time to sort it out is an understatement...years. Starting with the first Atkins diet I went on 10 years ago. In its most basic form it is following the glycemic index. It is not a perfect instrument by any means (nor I am), but helps me…

Exhibit A: Lemon filled donut sounds great. And a husband who brought me ANYTHING on Saturday morning, even better.

Oh Sara. Naive Sara of 25 posts. Here lies the age old MFP battle. Those who can't and those who not only insist you can, but do so in the nicest (I ate donuts everyday and went to McDonalds, drank diet soda and lost weight) way. Yes, there are those of us who are referred lovingly to as "special snowflakes" who for some…

Stop.It.Now. If you let your Dad and his ignorance move into your head...he will live there and sabotage everything you are doing. You aren't doing this for him. This is for you. Find the good, dig deep and get over it. Truly. Not a second thought. I have been dieting since June. Exactly one friend has commented on my loss…

I drink wine regularly and with meals. I also have cocktails. And I am losing weight. The real thing to watch is what you eat AFTER drinking. Wine is good for you.

Topomax is frequently prescribed by psychiatrists for a host of reasons - including weight loss Many of the psychotropic medications folks have to use cause rapid weight gain and metabolic resistance. Sadly folks gain lots of weight rapidly and many I know have even developed type II diabetes. I think the risk profile for…

Nope, no and h@ll no. There is more and more evidence that coffee is actually GOOD for you. And who wants to live without it?

I would also love to join. I am in the process of getting hooked up with Crossfit with an emphasis on lifting and increasing my calories. At this point, I don't have anything to add, but I am sincerely hoping that I can learn from others experience. This feels very life changing for me and I am anxious to start this next…

Hells yes, I absolutely agree! Opium is the answer. Opium den near by? Not so much.

Confused. What isn't there to love about Peanut Butter. Especially with bacon.

Oh my, do I agree that sleep deprivation is the WORST. I also think the progesterone has helped somewhat, but I still have a couple sleep interrupted nights a week. I feel lucky if I can get back to sleep... I have also started taking 5 HTP at night. It is supposed to help, whether it has or not, I just can't tell anymore.…

First, let me say, congratulations at 87 for thinking about your health and wanting to make positive changes. I also commend you for getting on the internet, finding this place and posting! I know my Mom at 87 could have NEVER done that. I think it is fantastic. Second, let me apologize for some of the responses you got.…

No on the vodka tonic - sorry, but tonic is as sweet as the rest of the mixers... I drink vodka (citron if they have it) with club soda in a very tall glass with a twist of lemon. If that is not sweet enough for you, ask them to add a small spash of cranberry juice. It is 70-100 calories per drink. And because you order it…

Oh, me too on the fiber front. I take Magnesium supplement and it works like a charm. 1 two times a day. Cheap and really easy. I also really like the site Low Carb Friends - TONS on recipes, diets, info, etc. Just about everything you would ever want to know. Also, to begin with, I would be careful with the fake sugar…

NO WAY!!! Don't you know you are in starvation mode? Your muscles have all been eaten up, your organs are failing, you are binge eating and now obese again (my personal favorite)??? Wake up. Please. Before something really terrible happens to you while you are heavy lifting or running...and losing. Consistently. And for…

Wow, I looked at your Diary and you are doing great. I am sorry about the counting...we are all different. I, personally, kind of like it. It is a game I play in my head figuring out calorie counts. I am also not super strict about it and give myself a fair amount of leeway. Have you tried pushing your calories back, if…

Nonsense! Opinion, not fact! If you are really interested in the "truth" you need to find it for YOURSELF. Not here. Not listening to the cacophony of voices on MFP. There is so much out there on the net...do a little research (it will be conflicting) and then decide for yourself. What works for you. Best of luck.

I apologize upfront, but from your description, you should be able to eat 1200 calories. What are you eating everyday? And how much? You sound like you are pretty restrictive from the get go, so I am a little confused.

I think that the OP presented a very powerful and meaningful message. Starving one self is indeed frightening and dangerous. I believe what the OP shared was someone's experience with an eating disorder. Which isI a psychiatric condition that requires treatment. I would never dismiss the message or the messenger, but…

I split a bottle of wine with my husband most evenings. It fits into my calories and I keep losing. There are many things I am more willing to give up and I eat healthier (ie: more nutritional dense - lower calorie) foods because of it. Cheers.

Yep. Would have to try them all...love love love corndogs. And tamales. And festivals. Enjoy!
