Nothing is inherently bad. Anything in large amounts can be. Overdoing it on sugar can destroy your liver. Sodium does the same thing. Drinking too much water can be bad for you. Drinking enormous amounts of tea can harm your bones. Just depends on the portion sizes. Keep your sugar intake normal, and you're fine.

Apparently the artificial sweeteners make you crave food and prevent you from feeling full? So when you dump the diet soda, you don't eat as often, thus cutting your calories. I stopped drinking sugary drinks, and it really helped my weight. I just drink water and plain iced tea anymore. :)

Looking for much the same! I'm 19 and trying to get into shape and be healthy and active. It really helps when you have someone to be accountable to, someone who's aware of your progress and can help if there are bumps in the road.

Maybe if I were ravenous, but 5 slurpees is a lot of sugary crap to put in your body. Portion control is key. I just ignore it. There's no chance I'd go out of my way to dress like a cow for free chicken all day. Your friend isn't going to be losing anything and might end up with diabetes or something at this rate. :ohwell:

I drink tea instead. Doesn't make me jittery, though my friend is a fan of the flavored protein powders for her coffee. She likes vanilla and coconut. Maybe try that and see what you prefer.
