  • You don't. I went from a 36-38DD to a 34C. But I look in proportion. The rest of me went from a 14 to a 6. You can't control where your weight comes off. Sometimes as you are losing, things may seem a bit out of sync (one area looks too big /small) but once you are close to goal weight, it evens out.
  • My meals typically have lean protein, whole grain carbs, lots of veggies, and sometimes a fruit as well. If I don't eat a complete meal, then I'm hungry soon after eating.
  • I'm a perfect example. I was eating about 1200-1400 calories a day and had increased my exercise tremendously. I hit a plateau that I just could not break. That's when I found MFP; started following it EXACTLY as written, and lost the last 15 (+1!!) I was trying to get rid of. Trust the system.
  • This link was posted about a year ago on this site. It's a VERY funny and VERY irreverent post about the side effects of Alli. There is quite a bit of cursing, so if that offends you, please don't read it. http://angryaussie.wordpress.com/2007/06/20/miracle-diet-pill-with-teeny-tiny-side-effect/ I think the general opinion…
  • Yep. Couldn't have said it better. Have lost 45 pounds, kept it off for 7 months. I would add make sure you change up your exercise, "go to" meals every once and a while or boredom can set in.
  • Amazing...absolutely amazing
  • If you're hungry, eat, if not, one day is not going to be a big deal. I've also found that sometimes I end up eating some of the calories back the next day (because I'm so hungry) if I don't eat them the day I should have. To me, that isn't a big deal- at the end of the week, my caloric intake comes out just fine.
  • CONGRATULATIONS!! Just a word about HDL... the goal for women is over 50. And, some of us have naturally resistant HDLs. About the only way we can increase our HDLs is through exercise (outside of genetics). Some medications will assist in increasing HDL, but primarily, it's diet. Having a glass of wine or so a night may…
  • Initially, you may still lose weight if your calorie intake is less than your caloric output. However, as you get closer to your ideal weight, eating the unhealthy foods will slow if not stop your weight loss if it's your primary source of calories. We all have times when chips sound better than carrots, that normal and…
  • Many times this comes down to will power. Nothing more than that- and probably the most difficult piece. How important is being healthier? Is it more important than the appetizer or the dessert? Is eating those things worth the extra workout or the extra weeks of the weight loss portion of this journey? Maybe asking those…
  • Well, this can be one big can of worms... I think the general feeling is that you should eat at least some, if not all, of them back. If you find that your weight loss stalls and there are no other issues with your eating plan, then try stopping the extra calories for a bit and see if it makes a difference. Every body is…
  • Balanced diet is the best. But the carbs should be whole grain and in moderation. Also, many years ago, this diet got dubbed the Mayo Clinic diet and yet Mayo never endorsed it. There is now a Mayo Clinic Diet Book that IS a lifestyle change that Mayo does endorse. I would highly recommend that program over this one.
  • hummus, light mayo, lots of veggies (keep it moist with no fat)
  • What I do is log my exercise calories early in the day so I know how many total calories I have for the day- even if I'm not exercising til later. Use the information under reports and what you're tracking to guide what else you should eat. Make sure you're getting plenty of fiber, low sodium, multi grain carbs, a good…
  • Not having control over what you have available to eat can be really tough. Try to be as creative as you can with what is available. If the healthy options are limited and seem to repeat way too often, why not speak up and ask if there is something else that can be offered? Another thing to do is have good, healthy,…
  • My guess is you're not eating enough. Pay attention to what MFP tells you your calories should be and stick to it. Make sure to eat at least some if not all of your exercise calories back. May seem like a lot of food, but trust the site.
  • I would say just eat in a balanced way. There is no secret, unfortunately. If you try some fad diet, you may lose more for the wedding, but will probably put some (or all) of it back on afterwards. Follow the guidelines set by MFP for a 2 pound weight loss a week and you should be close. Good luck!
  • Eat back the calories to start. Every body is different, but typically most bodies want those calories back. It usually also depends on what those calories consist of. If it's unhealthy processed stuff, those may not help you lose weight. But if they're healthy lean proteins, whole grains, veggies, etc, then it will help…
  • hummus in a pita with lots of veggies (cucumber, peppers, onion, grilled zucchini, yellow squash, mushrooms...) with some fresh fruit and a yogurt; skinny cow cheese wedges (2) with crackers, raw veggies or a salad (with a light dressing), fruit and/or yogurt; I many times will bring much smaller portions of dinner from…
  • First of all, this isn't dieting. This is a lifestyle change. If you see this only as a diet, it's going to be difficult to maintain any loss. As far as dinner, how many calories, fats, carbs do you have left for the day? Do you have enough of most to incorporate both the fish and fries into your dinner? If not, then just…
  • Take a look at your diet and make sure it's balanced. Sometimes if you're missing something or overeating in other areas, this can occur. I've found that sometimes it mind over matter...I got on a chocolate chip cookie train of thought a couple weeks ago. I COULDN"T get off it! Once that train left the station, I had one…
  • Your description is how I still am 10 years after having mine out. I have found that if I eat VERY low fat all day, I can have something like a brat or french fries that night. If I'm in the same room with an Alfredo sauce, I'm done for. OK, that's an exaggeration, but cream and butter sauces are an absolute no. Even with…
  • What an amazing transformation- both externally and internally.
  • WOW!! Powerful stuff. Congrats on this HUGE break through!
  • Ever think about Danskos? It's what a lot of surgeons use in the OR and I used them when I was a nurse in the ICU.
  • Corn is not a vegetable, it's a starch. And will have a fair amount of sugar. However, if you eat it in moderation , make sure you're getting other veggies in your day, and counting it as starches, there is nothing wrong with sweet corn.
  • WOW!! You should be so proud of yourself!
