  • Great Topic!!! I'll trawl through my playlist and list up my tunes, however they are split into three playlists depending on the mood and/or style of workout (speed vs power). Power Playlist - this playlist is mainly Hip/Hop and Gangsta rap. I find the slower repetitive beat (and aggressive lyrics) helps me find the right…
  • The sparring was a natural progression my trainer has worked tight with me over the last 6 months (technique, fitness, confidence, ring awareness) so when the prospect of sparring came up it was less daunting. Don't get me wrong, I was helluva nervous the first time but my trainer eased me in and I really enjoy…
  • PS - When I first started out I stumbled across some great heavy bag videos (as well as general boxing technique videos) that helped me fine tune my footwork and form. Not everyone wants to be a fighter, but even those just interested in boxing fitness will get value from them as it will help you make the most from your…
  • Update: my Wednesday session has been replaced with 3 Rounds of Sparring.............. the toughest training I have EVER done.
  • I train at a boxing gym and my trainers make me do a few different things on the bag for each round, all for different purposes: - Power Punching Combos (this includes movement around the bag, never standing still). - Speed Punching Combos ( as per above - always moving) - Left Jab only with speed or power (this is brutal)…
  • David Guetta - Titanium FloRider - Good Feelin
  • Ive been going to gyms from well over a decade, been to Zest, Goodlife, Fitness First etc etc. Served their purpose and helped me when I was focusing on weight training. Got used to all the modern touches - clean showers, steam rooms, airconditining pretty receptionists to greet you, all the electronic running machines and…
  • To be honest, Oriz made his bed with the headbutt. Granted what Mayweather did was unsportsman like but well within the rules, Ortiz shouldnt have made the mistake he did............ I get in trouble when working the bag and drop my hands so a World Champion like Ortiz should have no excuse! As for the Pacman v Money…
  • does growing up in Glasgow and brawling in the street count?!!! Just kidding, started boxing two years ago however ramped up my training in January of this year, start sparring end of this month with a fight hoped for next year. Love the fitness and mental stamina it provides, but equally the new technical challenge I'm…
  • my money is on Manny, he's not gonna want to lose this one as they plan towards a May5th matchup with Mayweather. Should be a cracker though as Marquez has plenty to prove after the last loss against Pacman. I Cant wait!!
  • Scossie (Scottish Australian)!!
  • Arrived from Scotland, landed in Melbourne and made my way to Queensland ten days later. Within a couple of days of arriving in Briabane I knew this was the city I wanted to raise a family and grow old in.......... still feel the same way 16yrs later!
  • Both watching and participating - Boxing and Football (Soccer).
  • 33yo Qlder............... its all about enjoying the journey more than the destination. What that means, you got to enjoy the exercise you do rather than it being something you have to do in order to lose weight.
  • Boxing is the best workout you'll be put through, nothing comes close to the mental & physical training you will endure. However, there is a significant difference between a boxing gym run by boxers and a boxing gym run by fitness instructors.
  • Im in Brissie also :)
  • Just wants to give an update for anyone going through injury! The injury I suffered had me out for two months and then flaired up again that had me out for another month, so a total of 3mths from 6 (with no upper body work - not good if your Boxing!!). However the injury is well and truly behind me, I'm boxing better than…
  • My trainer wants to fight me in a hard sparring session in December............. thats enough to keep me motivated and committed to my training and diet plan!

  • Started using TRX and its brutal. However, my trainer obviously feels that TRX itself is not enough punishment.............. so added kettlebells to the TRX session in order to compliment my effort! Fantastic piece of equipment,
  • Thanks - I'm looking forward to getting stuck in!
  • iPhone app, but there is a website: http://hundredpushups.com/ Once I get this out the way I'll do the situp and squat program.
  • SE Qld here! :)
  • Picking up new brake pads tomorrow so that I'm ready to hit the trails again next weekend, have a route that I plan to conquer. There is one part of the forest that you have to use the fire roads and trails to get to, but has a BBQ setup etc, thinking I might throw a steak & salad in the backpack and cycle there!
  • Hit my legs and abs hard, working 8 sets of 8 reps with minimal rest periods. Only did that a couple of times a week however where possible I would walk/run home from the train station. More than anything I just tried to be concious of my inputs, I wasn't too strict (had a few bad days) but just conscious enough to know I…
  • Ive managed to drop 4.4kg (10lbs) since Jan 6th, the best thing though is that most of that weight loss has come during the time I was injured and training restricted. Thanks to MFP and the MFP community....... who knows what I'll be dropping once I can start boxing again!
  • they are excellent, I read a really good article the other day on them (from a Boxing & MMA magazine). I'll try and dig it out and summarise the key points & benefits.
  • Im about to face the same situation today........ Birthday BBQ at a mates place then a Football (Soccer) match tonight. Being an expat Brit in Australia,me and many 'associates' will converge on a pub and drink pint after pint of lager. I'm simply going to go into the day knowing I'll have to work hard this week. I'm not…
