I have all sorts of motivations for my new healthy lifestyle (e.g., my son, better health & wellbeing, aging gracefully, etc.), but my "secret" motivation (that I have shared with no one) is my secret crush on a colleague.

Kinda my story, too, except I will be 50 in May. I started this journey last September when I realized that I looked like crap, felt like crap, and was not going to age well if I felt 75 at 49. I am down 25+ pounds, eating better, feeling healthier and stronger, sleeping better, and can actually bend over and touch my toes…

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! It seems decade birthdays get more attention than other birthdays, but you really can choose how you feel about them. Many people dread them, some of us embrace them. I had my son when I was 30; I earned my PhD when I was 40 [actually had a birthday/commencement party to celebrate both]; I will turn 50 in…

Amazing transformation...mind, body, and spirit. This is what I hope for my brother, who has a similar story. Congratulations on all the successes, big and small.

This is an interesting topic to me right now. I have lost 19 pounds since September, but in the past week [after years of consistently being called "ma'am"] I was called "miss" by 3 different strangers. I also had several high school/college friends comment on brand new facebook photos this week suggesting that they think…

I am using age 50 as a target for reaching weight loss and fitness goals, too. I started a couple months ago, knowing I had about 9 months to see some serious change. Feeling great about making the commitment and about my progress so far.

Hey there. I'll be 50 next year, menopausal, 5'3", down 18 with another 7-10 to go. And, while I am happy with the weight loss so far, I am acutely aware of the amount of "fat" that I still have. What am I doing differently? Everything seems different these days. I am now weighing and tracking food faithfully; I am doing…

Congrats, and thanks for sharing the story in all its glorious detail.

I am 5'3-ish. Highest weight 170 (when pregnant 20 years ago); lowest adult weight ever was when battling an eating disorder, so it does not count; lowest adult weight when reasonably healthy 115. I am honestly not sure what my "goal weight" is or should be. Aiming generally for 130, but I am actually more interested in…

No apologies! She looks great and I, personally, see the message as motivating.

I have 2. One is a rose crossed with a black lightning bolt on my right shoulder blade that I got 25 years ago but just had touched up by the same artist this past summer. The other is a tree representing the cycle of life (from buds to roots) on my left breast. My 19 year old son is currently designing my next.

OK...I'll play!
