I would say, make an exception during the race. A 3 hour race is not your everyday activity, and it may require more sugar than usual. I'm also interested in knowing more about this "sugar detox". The word "detox" is what confuses me. You can't "detox" from sugar... but if you just mean you are trying to lower your sugar…

I don't think there is a clear answer as to just how much soy affects hormones and if it truly is that bad for you. I was about to buy a nutritional shake once, and as I was reading the label, it said for all women with any hormone dependent disease, gynecological disease, including breast cancer or a family history of…

Wait 2 hours before and after having iron to take foods the inhibit it's absorbtion. Not sure about tea, but my nutritionist and pharmacist told me to take my iron pills 2 hours AFTER i had any calcium, and wait 2 hours AFTER I took the pill before having calcium.
-
Just a guess, but maybe the non-fortified (or non-enriched) almond, rice ad coconut milks would have less calcium.

I had my follow up appointment yesterday, and I am finally NOT Iron Deficient anymore!!! I owe it all to my protein/nutritional shakes. Whey Gourmet Peanut Butter and Chocolate has 75% dv of iron for 120 calories. Vego One Nutritional shake has 50% dv for 110 calories. Canprev protein greens and berries has 60%…

Defending aspartame is not gonna change the fact the soda (or pop, coke, soft drinks, whatever youcall it) is icky. i'll have water please!

Thanks, I will look them up!

LOL, I'm sorry to disappoint you! I have no idea if peeps are gluten free. If not, I hope someone invents it before next Easter!

A little bit of everything. I eat mostly clean - I didn't know that was a "thing" until I came to MFP. It just makes sense to me to eat whole foods and cook from scratch. It's more fun, I can be creative with what I make, and I find it takes better. I've never liked most processed foods that much anyway, I only buy…

Sounds mostly like side effects of the pill. Headache, sore throat and coughing though are not side effects of the pill. I'd say a cold or allergies (it's hay fever season!) Every woman will have difference side effects with different pills. Your experience with one pill will be different than someone else's. Ortho Tri…

Chihuahua-X Not sure what the "X" is... some sort of terrier, pomeranian maybe? I never thought I'd ever get a chihuahua, I thought they were terrible animals! But after my last dog died, I volunteered to foster dogs. I was brought two little chi mixes. They had obedience training, they were so sweet, I fell in love and…

Why would anyone think that organic means weight loss friendly? Do people not know what that word means? There are benefits of organic, especially environmental and social reasons... but who buys organic to lose weight lol, that doesn't make any sense!!!! Who's saying that you'll lose weight on organic food, who??! Maybe…

Well, you left out the quote where I said why I wanted to be informed, and then ask me again why I want to be informed. But I'll repeat and elaborate: I want to know what my food is and where is comes from, how it's been processed, etc. As much info as I can. Whether GMO, country of origin, the name of the farm, organic or…

No-No foods: chicken - because I had a bad experience and associate it to dead bodies now, long story turkey - reminds me of chicken other meats that taste like chicken - see above soda - I've never drank soda because the bubbles hurt my tongue when i was a child. I've tried sips... still can't do it. coffee - I'm highly…

add water and microwave?

Theeeere we go. You finally said it. You made the big ol' assumption that if I want to be informed, it MUST be because I'm "scared" of GMOs, that I believe they are unhealthy. I have made no such claims, because tha is NOT why I want to be informed. Tons of things are labeled that are not bad for you. I want to know what…

And GMO monocropping will someday lead to environmental and economic devastation in those same developing countries. :drinker:

this feels like an IQ test: fish genes come from fish. strawberry genes come from strawberries. fish genes come from strawberries. Which if these statements is NOT like the others?
-
Hard to elaborate or something I didn't say... where's the part where I wrote it's bad for strawberries to have frog genes in them? Selecting strawberries from existing strawberry genes, is different than adding frog genes to a strawberry. Frogs did not evolve to be strawberries. Clearly, there is a difference.

My point is, you don't know the meaning of "GMO" if you are confusing it with breeding. You gave the wrong definition of it in the post above by claiming GMO foods are the same as artificially selected foods. You were right about everything else though. But if you don't know what GMO is you kinda lose credibility. It…

My dog is made of dog, just like his parents. His parents were selected because their traits were desirable. Maize that was juicy and tasty was selected, and its seeds were kept. Over generations, this led to the corn we eat today. This is called Artificial Selection, or Selective Breeding. My strawberries have frog genes…

I want GMO labeling. Not for the reasons stated by the OP, but I want to know what's in my food, what it is, and exactly where is comes from. The more info, the better. I fail to see how "ignorance" of your food is helpful to anyone except the bottom line of the companies producing GMOs. Doesn't sound right to me!

I'm pretty sure I can find thousands of photos of beautiful vegan women, and put them next to thousands of photos of ugly non-vegan, smoking women. But that would be just as useless as the image above wouldn't it? For what it's worth, I'm not vegan (but I eat a mostly vegan diet, most of the time), and I don't think it's…

This is not accurate. I'm sure there are certain diseases you can avoid by never eating meat. But you cannot avoid ALL diseases. Some diseases are genetic, or environmental that have nothing to do with eating animal products. Or eating at all, for that matter.

Glad you caught on to the ongoing joke. In all seriousness though, I check out their profiles and if they look like they are gonna be good people who are really trying to be healthy and we have a few things in common, I'll accept. I'll also accept anyone who has reached unbelievable goals, even if we don't have anything in…

I'm always at some hotel (always a different swanky hotel in a different location) and I am attending some sort of conference, and there is a catered lunch. And I am STARVING. But I can't sit down and eat because people keep coming up and talking to me and I'm trying to be polite and "network", but I'm just staring at this…

I only want people who can motivate me, share advice, have similar goals and healthy lifestyles, you know, people I can relate to. So obviously I only accept requests from overweight married men older than my own father with nothing on their profile but a "friend's list" of young scantily clad women. I have to accept, I…
-
I'm not being conceited, I'm just not naive. Again, some older-than-my-dad totally out of shape guy has a friends list with nothing but pretty young fit girls is gonna come off as creepy. Researching for this wife? LMAO! I'm sure that's what he'll tell her when she sees what he's been up to. Those guys are here for the…

I don't know if I should get my $100 haircut this week or wait a couple more weeks until just before I move out of Montreal... what if it grows too fast and I have to cut it while I'm still away in Kitchener? Like, do they even KNOW how to cut hair there?? Do they even HAVE salons that charge over $100 for a trim? I NEED…

LOL You're turning out to be just as weird as the OP... Yes, I picked 55, balding and married because it "means something". It's not like I would have picked an arbitrary number as an example based the most recent creep who tried to add me yesterday just to illustrate my point. (insert rolling eyes smiley) And no, I would…
