  • I weigh myself almost every morning, but I only record the weight on Mondays. Except for this Monday, because I ate like crap last week and am gonna be having a visitor this week if ya catch my drift...
  • huge difference for six weeks!!! great job, lady!
  • I glanced at the website, but you posted the basics (which any sensible person would know is unhealthy) in your original post. Is the following true or untrue? You do not eat for 16 hours. You then eat your entire day's worth of calories in the other 8 hours. If that is part of your diet (like you stated in your original…
  • I think everyone challenged by their weight feels that way from time to time. 91 pounds is nothing to sneer at! You're doing great, just keep at it until that image changes. And if that image is being a stubborn jerk image, maybe try talking to a therapist about it. Body image issues that are very extreme are often linked…
  • In college, some kid brought in baby food to a class as a "birthday treat" for the professor and I discovered that I have a bizarre weakness for the Gerber Organics peach cobbler. Other than that, it's just regular food + preservatives in a blender. May as well eat whole foods that taste better, just watch your portions.
  • Starving yourself for a period of time throughout the day is pretty much the exact same thing to your body and your metabolism as starving yourself for a few days. The diet is scientifically proven by the folks who invented it; the rest is a joke. If you just want to defend unhealthy eating habits don't post in a forum…
  • Just be careful... a lot of those so-called "health bars" are packed full of sodium and high-fructose corn syrup, neither of which is good for your metablosim. Nature Valley (while not exceptional - they do have a few products containing HFCS) tends to me a good store brand for meal-sustaining snack bars.
  • I fast for spiritual/emotional reasons. Fasting to lose weight is a dead-end street. I have to make up my calorie intake on fasts just to not kill my metabolism (I do an olive oil/cayenne/lemon juice shot several times daily to keep my calorie intake up but my food intake down). Fasting for weight loss is basically going…
  • xraychick FTW. Sorry.
  • I have never met a nut that was not a friend? Of the food variety, at least...
  • Mini-bagels aren't a fast. Fasting is used either to cleanse your system or for spiritual enlightenment via deprivation (if you buy into that). That's starving yourself, and obviously you're going to lose a few pound by depriving your body of fuel, which actually does far more harm than good. As a ritual faster (for a…
  • You know, I was just getting past the period too... thanks! Glad to know I'm not crazy. :)
  • I'm at 1.5lbs per week (according to MFP) and average .5-2lbs in actual loss. I vary my calorie intake and exercise routine fairly frequently, though. I don't think 1.5 is too much, but make sure you're cutting out the right things (and adding in the right things). Keep in mind that weight is still just a number, and might…
  • If you're taking in at least 1200 calories (even if your net is in the negative from exercise) and you feel fine, then I wouldn't worry about it too much. If you're not hitting that number, try snacking on foods that are calorie-dense, like nuts, granola bars, juices, et cetera. Protein shakes are also a great way to bump…
  • An addendum: diet soda will kill you due to the aspertame. Regular soda will kill you slower due to the HFCS. Avoid bottled/brand-name soda unless it's got natural sugar. There are options out there for such.
  • Buy a bottle of seltzer water and mix 2-3oz of (unsweetened, natural) juice into it. It'll kill your body's sugar cravings, provide way more nutrients, and be way lower on the calorie scale. A 12oz glass of seltzer water with half a lemon squeezed into it is a whopping 30-or-so calories and tastes WAY better than Sprite or…
  • I made a similar post not too long ago, and the general consensus from the community here was that as long as those sugars are coming from natural foods (and are not artificially added), then you shouldn't worry about it. I eat lots of fruit and drink juice like a maniac -- at this point I ignore going over on my sugars. I…
  • I just took a picture of myself marking 1 month yesterday... it's in my photos. I'm in. I'll post my pic next month too. :)
  • Congrats dear, that's fantastic! Great motivation to keep at it, eh? I've got a smaller start weight (I'm also super short), but I dropped 4lbs my first week and nearly jumped through the roof. That first week loss certainly kept me going through the rest of the month (I hit one month yesterday - 8lbs down). Keep working!!…
  • Certain diets work for certain people and not for others. Lo carb worked for the OP, it would never work for me (my body can't handle much meat)... but I also know folks who have had success with it. I'm generally opposed to low carb dieting because so much of the information out there is wonky and can lead to…
  • I'm down... so what's the challenge?? ;)
  • That sounds both weird and extremely dangerous (especially if your body isn't accustomed to digesting much meat). Listen to your body when trying out new diet plans. If something doesn't feel right, there's probably something very wrong with that diet (even if it's worked for somebody else).
  • Were you still working out? I've found that on days when I go a little overboard (or a lot) on a meal or two, the loss trend generally still continues, as long as I keep active and keep my other meals in check... Nice to know you can cheat a little bit, ain't it?! ;)
  • Fantastic job girls! What an amazing difference. :)
  • I have the same problem --- I eat lots of fruit and drink lots of juice (without added sugar) and my sugar is ALWAYS over. I made a similar post a while back and everyone here told me that if it's naturally occurring sugar, not to worry about it. I'm not sure how yogurt counts though -- check the ingredient label and make…
  • As long as you're feeling good and the weight's still coming off, don't worry about it. Listen to your body. It will tell you when you need to eat more (though possibly not by hunger -- so keep watch for any signs of feeling weak, unexplainable mood swings, change in skin or nail conditions, et cetera). Other than that it…
  • I do it too -- working out means I can totally have a cocktail or an extra snack or more goat cheese on my salad. ;) I always eat my exercise cals back... MFP calculates the weight loss deficit for you. If I don't eat them back I feel weak and poopy, and then it's harder to work out the next day.
  • Totally embarrassed to say it, but Katy Perry's "Firework" has been at the top of my playlist this last week... also a bunch of Outkast and David Bowie... oh, and Tom Jones' "Sex Bomb", but mostly because it makes me laugh.
