Another thing to keep in mind is gearing. You'll find riding much more enjoyable if you get a really good cassette (11-36) on the back, and a good crank (44-33-22) on the front. Having the low gears to spin up hills will allow you to build endurance, and keep you from injuring yourself. I'm still above your weight and I…

No ride for me today as we are driving home from my tour. Oddly enough; we encountered no flat tires on the bikes on the tour. However, the van got a flat tire on the way home. I will post my official mileage tomorrow.

I'm looking forward to this tour, as with all the rest of them. I'm actually riding from St. Cloud, Minnesota (USA) to Galena, Illinois (USA) starting on 8/15/2014. My first scheduled rest day is 8/23/2014 in La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA, but I'll try to get out and ride a little that day as this coincides with the start date…

I really had fun with this challenge this time. I'm still having some health issues but my riding was consistent and this makes me happy. I should finish July with around 550 miles which is the most I've ridden in a month in a year. But, it's been fun riding with all of you. I really enjoy the photo thread, as I'm a…

Thanks for another great challenge...I really enjoyed it. I ended with a fizzle. Weather was good, but I'm experiencing some vertigo with an ear infection that I have, so I decided to avoid risking a wreck. Been fun riding with all of you.

No ride for me today Team 1. My wife and I are headed out on a six day tour tomorrow. She doesn't ride often, so we are limited to 15 to 20 mile rides. Should be enjoyable none the less. So, I've spent the day tuning the bikes, and packing, and getting things done around the house...

Rode from the Gateway Arch in St. Louis and took some photos:

I'm pretty sure I'll end up being the slowest rider on Team 1 so don't feel bad. I try to do touring in the summer here, and I've found that I have to keep my heart rate below 130 for the first hour to avoid massive cramping 5 to 7 hours after my rides. So, for the first hour, I just spin along on my big steel touring…

Happy to be riding on a team in July. I will need some kind of incentive like this to keep me riding in the heat. TBY - Glad to have you onboard again Tom - wouldn't be the same without you... Just don't overdo it in those temperatures mate

Great results all around. I really enjoyed the photos this time; I thought it added a new dimension...

I really like that photo...

They've modified our forecast for the week to mostly rain,,,I will try to squeeze in rides when there isn't lightening and thunder.
-
Well said. Factors like time, equipment, and family all effect the amount of distance we can ride. I have four boys; one of which who will ride with me. My wife occasionally rides. I also ride a steel bike, as I like touring, and it services my weight well. All this said; my time is limited, and the amount of distance I…

I don't mind riding in the kiddie pool...

The horse was framed; from today's ride: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10201283663813517&set=pcb.10201283666853593&type=1&theater Let me know if you can't see the photo... TBY Edit - for non-facebook people, the page may be invisible... I'll try and link the actual photo

Not sure how this will appear, but I tried to get a photo of the moon over my Kona at night: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9PLjk0wza9Oa00ybTdmb1VGVVk/edit?usp=sharing

Sorry Team 1, but my weather did not cooperate here. They've gone back to their original forecast, and we are supposed to get the rain / thunderstorms here until Friday some time. Typically, when it rains here this time of year, we get a lot of lightning, so I don't want to risk it.
-
Rain in the forecast for the next week here, every day, but I'll try to slip in some rides between the rain showers.

I did get a ride in today before we left Bermuda. I won't get another ride in until 5/13/2014 as we will be traveling home until then. My rides are posted to Strava and Garmin if you need data before then. Internet time is expensive on the ship.

I thought about an interesting twist, as I was out riding today for my slow 22 miles. Actually, I did ride faster today, but was on my Montague Fit folding road bike, which is lighter. What if we through in a daily photo contest, and awarded points for things like creativity, best shot, etc, and just had everyone vote…

I wish I had more or better suggestions but I really don't know of anything right now. I will give it more thought. One of my limiting factors, is that I consider myself to be more of a bicycle tourist than a racer. I plod along steady like a turtle, and really enjoy long, slow rides. I also have limited hills around me. I…

Being new to virtual training, I find the combination of Kinomap with the Wahoo KICKR trainer to be the most enjoyable training I've ever done in the winter. I still prefer riding outdoors in the sunshine, but having Kinomap keeps riding interesting to me, when it could become very unenjoyable.

I'm hoping to get my riding back to the 2012 totals. Aiming for 7000 miles in 2014. I'll finish 2013 with around 3400, which is quite remarkable considering my work schedule for the year. But, I really want to cut back on my work...

That is kind of what I was reading. I figure if I buy the Kickr, and decide to switch to something else in a year or two, I can just give it to someone else on this forum...

Great work.
