That's a good idea! I never think about using that, but we have both in our cupboard for baking. Thanks everyone for the tips  At some point I'll try the unsweetened original too. We've used the unsweetened vanilla while making mashed potatoes before and no one noticed a difference. However, I've noticed I don't…

Oh, I'm nowhere near ready either! I'm working on it though, using Zombies, Run! 5K  This is my first 5k, and I'm just pumped because it looks like lots of fun. It'll definitely be a madhouse though!

I misunderstood your comment, thinking you were saying it only makes you put weight on the scale. She said she's steadily losing, but I assumed she was talking about steadily losing inches. Even if she's talking about weight, I'd say I'm steadily losing even though I might have a week here or there where the scale might…

Bellies are a particularly tricky measurement area. Had you eaten recently, or had a big meal? It could just be a food baby. You might have taken a deep breath that you hadn't before, or your ab muscles might not have been as tight. All of these can alter the measurement you take on your stomach, because it's a measurement…

Not necessarily. Feeling bloated is usually just another term for retaining water (a common symptom of women's time of the month). If your clothes just fit, this bloated feeling can make them extremely difficult to fit into—indicating a change in size as well as weight during this time.

Gained two inches in an area, or two inches overall? How many points are you measuring? A small increase everywhere (from water retention) can add up if you're taking measurements from lots of different places. Particularly since you're so small. Otherwise you probably measured slightly differently from before if you're…

Because strength training isn't about burning calories at that instant. In fact, most people don't even add strength training to their "cardio" exercises on MFP. The general breakdown is: 1. You're keeping your muscle and losing the fat instead of losing both. It's easier for your body to metabolize protein (muscle) than…

Another one I just remembered, again from my younger days. I was at the legitimate gym at our school with a friend, in probably 9th grade or so, and I was using a machine for like working your way to chin-ups (had a bar that was above your head, which you pulled down to you). I wanted to see if I could get it to move on…

When I was in high school, I was in gym class (this counts, right? ) with my friends. I was a little ways across the gym and they were all by the wall. In the good spirit of gym class I figured I'd jog over to them to be lazy and talk, but I only made it a couple of steps. This is what I get for dragging my feet; I…

I never really understood the "it doesn't grow mold" argument against margarine. Maybe my family is the outlier on this, but we leave our butter in an open dish on the counter (not even a cover. It's led to some sad moments of utensils in the butter). Maybe we use it too quickly, but I'd say now we go through maybe a stick…

Not losing weight for a week isn't a plateau. It's not even a stall. It's just a week of not losing weight. And yes, decreasing your water can cause you to retain water. If your body thinks it's not getting as much as it has in the past, it'll hold on to it, causing an increase (or hiding weight loss if the scale hasn't…

I got a food scale long before I "needed" one, and it's pretty much the best thing in my kitchen. I hated having to clean the measuring cups and spoons so frequently, or not having the one that I needed because it was already dirty. Now I just put my bowl on the scale, pour the cheerios until it gets to the grams…

This isn't exactly the same, but when I got my rescue dog he wouldn't accept dry dog treats. He loves them now, but at the beginning we had to really entice him in order to get him to eat it; so we got him meat sticks instead. He just couldn't resist. Try adding in some richer foods, like was already suggested. Some wet…

Looking at your diary, maybe try adding in some condiments and the special things. Example: Some butter or cheese on the baked potato you had yesterday. Roast your veggies with some olive oil. Add some avocado to your salad, or nuts. There are plenty of healthy, high-calorie foods out there that aren't necessarily filling.…

The sugars are created equal, but it's not the sugars in the cookie making you fat. However, it takes like 3 cups of grapes to equal one Subway cookie. Definitely not an equal amount/calories ratio.

Creep, brutally honest, easy I'll take it.

I wish lightening them was my issue. After losing so much weight, by main issue is that my stretch marks no longer have stretch. They look more like tiny river valleys. Sadly, there's not a whole lot that can be done for stretch marks. As ninerbuff pointed out, they're actual scars and never really go away.

It's been a week. You're definitely being impatient. You probably don't need to change anything, you just had some water weight this week because you're injured and your body is trying to heal. Remember to get the proper nutrition to help yourself heal and get back on your feet. You will do more damage to your weight loss…

Wow! Looking good! Great job :drinker:

Well the doctor's visit was what actually spurred me to lose weight. I didn't have a scale at home then, so seeing the number really shocked my system. Considering I've lost 80 pounds though and I'm still going strong, if they're going to lecture me about my weight I'm getting a new doctor. I'm already losing weight, and…

What kind of support are you offering? Different people have different levels of commitment, and different life circumstances that you might. You can't expect them to be right where you're at in life. They may be there, they may not be. Sometimes their level of commitment varies. I started this journey with my cousin, and…

1. Lost 79 pounds 2. SW: 343 3. Height: 5'9" 4. Started at 2200 calories, currently at about 2000 (my activity level changed. I'd be at 1800 if I was still at sedentart) 5. Now I exercise 3 times a week, with at least two of those days being strength training with resistance bands. When I started though I'd only go for a…

Semantic, true. However, it's usually easier to not have to micro-manage your calories burns that you do every day, particularly since you mentioned that you don't do it consecutively. Anyways, you seem to have a good idea of how much you burn on a regular basis, and you seem to feel that you're at more of a deficit than…

Okay, there's a lot of information here, and I can't answer all of it. The one thing I can say with a fair amount of confidence though is that you should NOT be set at sedentary. Included in your NEAT is not just your job, but the rest of life too. If you walk 6 miles a day on average, more or less every day, that's at…

So I didn't read the whole board, but I've gotten feelings kind of like what you described before, without the sweating. I'd be super shaky, kind of feeling like I'm ready to just collapse in a puddle and not move. I've had it happen both while dieting and not, and for me it actually seems to be related to not getting…

I haven't quite gotten to 100 pounds, but even getting this far, it feels pretty awesome. I went to a theater the other day, sat down, and realized that I wouldn't have fit in those seats when I was at my highest. I tightened the seat belt on the plane last time I flew. I can wear my dog out because going half a mile isn't…

That was sarcasm, hence the huh emoticon at the end. The person was making fun of the fact that the other poster listed foods that are traditionally considered bad, but no healthy alternatives.

You can still have half a tray of Chinese food, or moderately sized breakfast sandwiches, or a normal portion of your mom's cooking. You didn't get overweight just because you ate things deemed unhealthy, but because you ate lots of them. In addition, there are lots of more health-conscious ways to add calories to your…

Bump for ideas. I struggle with my protein too, and that's even after actively trying to bump it up. I feel like I'm eating huge amounts of meat (including fish) and dairy and I'm still struggling to get anywhere near my protein goals. Possibly because I'm not a huge fan of raw nuts, or beans either.

What were your leg exercises? The HRM is only accurate for steady state cardio (like the elliptical). If you're doing strength training, it's not going to give you an accurate number. In addition, you need to take off your BMR calories like the previous poster mentioned.
