I haven't cut out foods, but there are definitely times where I can't have something because it's just too hard to fit it into my day. For example: A burger and fries out at a pub. It's like 1000 calories+ for that. So delicious, but I have to really watch myself the rest of the day for that bit of deliciousness. So, like…

Exercise is beneficial, no matter how little or much time it is. An hour and a half is awesome if that's what you can do. Mine are usually 45min-an hour just because I want some extra cardio on the ends of my strength training routine. On that note, remember not to use less time as an excuse to not go to the gym! "I only…

I'm always over on my carbs, I definitely get it. Sometimes you have to trade out things. Example: Instead of eating cereal or a bagel for breakfast, eat a couple eggs. They don't have any carbs. For a snack, bring some turkey slices or nonfat cottage cheese instead of a granola bar. They'll still have some carbs, but your…

If you have too much fat and carbs, that means you're not getting enough protein. All calories fall into 1 of three groups: fats, carbs, and proteins. Your daily goals for each of these will lead to your daily calorie goal (For every carb and protein there is 4 calories, for every fat 9 calories). Sugar is just a type of…

Even when you're just barely melting the butter, if you're melting the whole stick some will get very hot while the rest is still melting. You'll have some melted in the bottom, but a mostly complete stick of butter. That melted butter is still getting hot, bubbling, and some of the water is evaporating, while the rest of…

I've lost 75 pounds so far. On sedentary I'm at 1800 calories now, but my activity level has increased since I started. It feels like a lot, but enjoy that. See if it works and if it doesn't, change. Or if it feels like it's not fast enough, so for a higher calorie goal. Listen to you're own body and your needs. Don't make…

Probably yes. I'm 5'9" and when I started I was 340 pounds, sedentary, and female (I get fewer calories even if all other stats are the same because of that D:). I lost weight starting at 2200 calories, 1.5 pounds a week goal, so 2700 seems reasonable considering your extra height and that you're male.

That could easily be water weight. Is that the only gain you've experienced? If so, don't worry about it. A woman's weight can fluctuate up to 8 pounds just because of water weight. Look at the long haul, not the week to week weigh ins.
-
Yes, water weight. Your body can fluctuate several pounds even in a day, depending on a variety of factors. Look for a general downward trend, or weigh yourself a couple times that week if the number is going up. You might have just had a lot of sodium yesterday, or a particularly hard workout can make you sore. If you're…

I would suggest doing the research with your mom, so that she can see that you've looked into this and are doing it well. Show her on a BMI chart what a healthy range is supposed to be for your body. Give her assurance that if you ever go below what is supposed to be a healthy weight, she's more than welcome to be…

My start weight was 343 pounds. As of this morning I'm at 268. About a month and a half into losing weight, 330 lbs, plus a corset. Just an update. This corset was as far open as it could go in this picture. It's now as tight as it can possibly go, and could still be tighter. A picture comparing October (305 lbs) to the…

I just wrote a blog post about this! Why to Strength Train When You're Fat: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/echofm1/view/why-to-strength-train-when-you-re-fat-640422

I'm 5'9" and 271 pounds at the moment. On my bottom I'm a size 22, and I can fit into a size 20 but it's pretty tight. On the top I'm an 18/20. When I started MFP I was 340, size 26 bottom and size 24 tops. So 70 pounds has gotten me down just two dress sizes. However, it's the smallest I've ever been, so I'll take it!…

9. It's the curlers that do it for me

All I've used is MFP. I've lost over 70 pounds so far. At the beginning I did almost no exercise unless I wanted more calories. Over time, I've built myself up so I'm exercising three days a week regardless of my calories. I haven't restricted any food groups, and the only macro I've watched is my protein since I have a…

^ This. MFP is designed so you lose weight even if you don't exercise. Eating your 1200 calories means you will lose weight. Exercise is so you can eat more food and still lose the same amount of weight. Don't be afraid or reluctant to eat the calories you get from exercise. Your body needs fuel. Monitoring your diet is…

Don't use MFP to look up different brands. There are multiple entries of a lot of things because people get confused about how to add things to their diary, and sometimes the nutritional values of things change due to recipe alterations. Also, you're going to find a million different brands, many of which won't be in your…

I do it all the time. It's fine. Your body doesn't reset at midnight. There's a weekly setting that you can look at on the app even. Lots of people will just try to stay under for the week, rather than worrying about day-to-day minutia.

We get most of our fruits and veggies from Aldi, and most of the time they're pretty good. If we can't find something there, we'll go to Cub (or Rainbow if that's closer to you) to buy it. Aldi has the cheapest food I've ever seen though, and they have a whole line of "Fit and Active" products that can be a great…

I also eat bread, pasta, tortilla's, etc. every day and haven't had a single issue with the pounds coming off. I also drink a pop a day and usually get some ice cream or chocolate too. It's more about what keeps you on track than anything else. If you eat at a deficit, you'll lose weight.

If you get full-fat dairy products, yes, it is mostly fat. Just like you can get skim milk though, you can get low-fat cottage cheese and regular cheese too, or light yogurt. The low-fat cottage cheese in my fridge right now has 6g carbs, 1g fat, and 13g protein in half a cup, for 80 calories. I don't buy low-fat cheese…

Are you lactose intolerant? If not, I'd suggest more dairy. It's how I get most of my protein, since I'm not a big fan of nuts or beans. Greek yogurt in particular is a great source. For the plain yogurt I got last week, there was 12g of protein, 3.5 carbs and about 70 calories. Cheese and cottage cheese are good options…

The Fitbit is an activity tracker. It'll monitor steps throughout the day, but acts kind of like a high-tech pedometer, so it's not as accurate for tracking exercise (from my understanding). If running or walking is your main form of exercise though, I imagine it would be useful for tracking that exercise. If you want…

Are you sure you want to cut all sugar out of your diet, or are you aiming to cut out added sugar? A lot of the sugar on labels (currently) is natural sugar. Take milk for example. They don't add sugar to regular milk, but lactose is a natural sugar. Cutting out even natural sugars from your diet, even allowing for fruit,…

I always go by the USDA's calorie counts for fruits and vegetables. Sometimes you'll have to look it up online to be sure, but other times it'll say "USDA" in the title of the food or in the brand. Also, if you can find MFP's logging for USDA fruits and vegetables, it'll let you choose all the options in addition to 100g.…

My brother-in-law sells the product and he and my sister are on their 2nd 90-day challenge. In essence, for losing weight, it does work. My sister has lost 2 dress sizes so far, and my brother-in-law has put on muscle. Body by Vi has different programs depending on your goals. Now I'll mention my concerns, which others…

I'm in just out of curiosity. I always went with their website info. On a related note, Buffalo Wild Wings adds sides to the nutrition info on all their items, even though you have to order sides separately on most items. It's so frustrating when restaurants do that! Just give me the info for each piece and let me do my…

What are your stats and calorie/weight loss goals? I see your diary is open, which is a good step. While exercise helps and is great for fitness, it's not necessary to lose weight. Weight loss is primarily about your diet. Keep in mind that when I say that, I mean being at a deficit. Don't rely on exercise to get you at a…

Buffalo sauce. One of the worst things ever invented—BBQ sauce all the way!

You know what that pound is? Breakfast. Poop. Clothes. That pound could literally be anything. You need to stop stressing about such a small variance in your weight because, as the poster said, your weight can vary by as much as 5 pounds in a day depending on the amount of water you drink, how much food is still in your…
