You should have input your age, height, and weight when you set up the HRM. This automatically gives you a target zone, based on those stats. You don't have to manually put it in. If you didn't put that information in, you shouldn't be trusting the calorie readings it's giving you anyways (if it is; I hear not all do)…

I understand the deep connection, I really do. I've definitely fallen for people I've only seen online, and my current boyfriend of over 5 years was found online. However, if he can't love you with a few pounds on—can't even say that he loves you after months of emotional connection and saying it—he's not your soulmate.…

Weight upon graduating high school: 300 pounds. Current weight: 256 and counting. I call that a win!

I got a 2007 light blue Honda Fit in December. I call him (yes, him!) Momiji

It shows cooked weight? That's odd. All of my rice and pasta have the serving size as dry weight, as the pasta and rice take in varying amounts of water depending on how you like it cooked, which will give you different weights. Example: Al dente pasta is going to weigh less than cooked to near mush pasta. In general, a…

I think I lost about 12 pounds the first month I started MFP. I was over 340 pounds, and I probably should have put myself as lightly active instead of sedentary, but for the first month of a morbidly obese person losing weight it was nothing alarming. I wish I could say it was because I exercised my butt off, but I…

Your friend probably isn't saying that because she doesn't want you skinnier than her, but because numbers, when it comes to weight, look different on different people. Maybe she genuinely thinks you'd look unhealthily thin at that point. I know my weight range (5'9") is like 140-170. It's entirely possible I'd be too…

Build muscle for a while. If, after you've built some muscle, you still feel concerned about that layer of fat, do cutting with heavy lifting and lots of protein to burn the fat and retain the muscle.

I don't do very long runs (yet), but I run with my dog and he usually gets hot and worn out before I do. So I just have a small backpack that can hold a water bottle for me and for him. That's about all it can hold. Other people have fancier suggestions on here, which will probably work better, but depending on where…

It seems reasonable that you'd use MFP/WW that way. There's really no reason not to. However, if you don't want to pay for WW just to go to the meetings, I'd suggest connecting with other users on MFP. Or join a group that does weekly weigh-ins on here. The people on here can be just as motivating as the strangers at a WW…

The answer isn't necessarily no though is the thing. She's losing weight, so she's eating at a deficit, which as you said means she won't put on muscle. However, by working out her calves she'll keep more muscle in that area and, if her body does decide to take energy stores from that area, it will be fat instead of…

I have 20.5 inch calves (down from 22 inches! Woo!), so I know your pain there. It's a family thing, so I don't have much hope for them. Like the other poster mentioned, all you can do is try to work out your calves. Hopefully you'll build muscle on them which will (hopefully) make them smaller. You don't have to wait…

I didn't read the rest of the board, but I felt like this needed to be mentioned if it wasn't. While many times nutritionists can put people on too few calories because that's what they were taught to do, I don't believe that's the case here. You said you were looking at weight loss surgery. Often times patients will be…

Well tonight I had a Mcdouble and a yogurt parfait at McDonald's. That counts as healthy, right? For 540 calories I'll take it. Panera is a great choice though mainly because they make calorie counts easily accessible on their menu. Plan your day around it if you plan to eat out, or at least figure out ahead of time what…

While you should definitely talk with him about this request more in depth, you seem to be taking it to extremes. Just because he asked you to stop losing weight doesn't mean he doesn't appreciate you as you are now. Maybe he's just concerned that you're going to get too skinny. Maybe he LIKES where you're at now (rather…

In that case I can pretty safely say that you're not eating enough, and you're probably sore so often because you're not getting enough nutrients to repair your muscles. Hunger is a notoriously unreliable method to determine if you're eating enough. According to the Scooby Workshop TDEE calculator, you could be losing even…

Sore muscles hold water because they're repairing themselves, which is why they say not to weigh. Not broscience, just physiology. What's your height? And do you exercise 2 hours a week, or do you do 2 hours multiple times a week? Give us some insight on where you're getting the number 1600 from. Also, another important…

I'm doing a 5K in June and I'm hoping to manage a 15 minute mile  You won't be the last to finish, and you don't need to wait. A lot of the 5Ks are to support a charity or to have a good time. It's more about the experience and less about the race, most of the time. There are definitely ones out there that are more…

I've been starting to run with my dog because he has ridiculous amounts of energy. At the beginning he's usually pumped to run and does fine. However, he's part sheltie, and when he decides it's time to stop (usually about 3/4 of the way through my routine) he starts to herd me to get me to stop running! He'll try to jump…

First, your goal of 2-3 pounds a week is ambitious. A bit too ambitious for healthy, sustainable weight loss. You might want to start with readjusting those. The only people who hit that average are quite heavy, not a bit overweight. Take me for example. I started at 343 pounds. I lost 3 pounds a week in the beginning, but…

There is no better explanation for this feel of betrayal than that gif.

I'm 5'9" and my goal weight is 175, the high end of healthy and about 100 pounds lower than I've ever been. We'll see when I get there if I'm happy though. sw: 343 lbs cw: 261 lbs goal: 175 lbs I've seen other boards like this though, and most 5'9" females seem to be happy in the 150's-160's area.

Another important question, since your diary isn't open: Are you weighing or at least measuring everything? And we do mean everything. Ketchup, oil used during cooking, milk you put in coffee. Those little things add up if you don't log them, and can basically negate a deficit.
-
If you're worrying about low cal and you're using 73/27 hamburger meat, you're doing it wrong. When I was younger I was a fan of making the burger, mixing in the things like onions and seasonings with the meat, and then just eating it with a fork and some ketchup like meatloaf. You can also use just half of the bun, or a…

I'd love to be in! Proud to be a Hufflepuff, the most unloved house :drinker:

It's probably you're blood sugar, and without looking at your diary, I'd suggest eating more protein. I have a similar issue and it's been one I've had periodically even before I started losing weight. Looking at what I'm eating just helped me pinpoint what was causing it. Sometimes I'd just get shaky and weak, feel like I…

People think it makes you gain weight because they're high in calories and it's easy to eat a lot of them. That's really about it. If you're managing portions, you'll be fine, and it'll be delicious.

I'm still in progress, but here's a 50 pounds down before/after picture! I am, obviously, not the tiny one in these photos. The first was at about 313 lbs in September of last year, the second one is a couple weeks ago at 263. P.S. That corset was as loose as it could be and it was still a bit tighter on me than it should…
-
5'6" isn't even that tiny. The average height for a woman in the US is 5'4". I really hope OP is trying to gain weight, and I agree that over estimating would be better than underestimating in this case.
-
I agree with this. It's hard to feel happy when you're at that much of a deficit. You're probably not only lacking nutrients, but you're missing out on all the social aspects of eating. Enjoying a meal with friends, family. A really good drink after a hard work week. People say that food shouldn't be a source of happiness,…
