Thanks to both of you, that sounds like a sensible tip, I'll try that out!

Lots of eye-openers in this thread, and frankly it is starting to get me worried a little! psulemon, can you expand a little on the point of permanent muscle loss? Surely any muscle mass lost can just be gained back through some form of bulking and diet? Is there any actual permenant damage that I might be doing to myself?…

Thanks for your suggestions. I'd say I've been on this roll since June, prior to that I was on 1600 since April, but I took things up a notch since then and results were impressive not going to lie, but obviously I know it couldn't go on for too long. My thinking was, go down as much as I can, then slowly start taking it…

Yeah, imagine two people telling you the exact same thing at the same moment, little creepy.

Oh, well I need to hit my target in 5 weeks, MFP suggested 1250, I revolved around that region but not strictly. Height: 5'11" Weight: 182.5 lbs as of this morning Losing weight at 2500, wow that is impressive!

I know it is an old thread, but the questions are still relevant. First of all, the question is, does having a bad day have an effect on weight loss, particularly if you have been on a good roll for several weeks/months? Back in June, during my fragile period where I had just hit my momentum, I had to go on a work trip…

The dreaded plateau. Just keep at it, that's the only way out of it. Make sure there is no 'calorie creep' in your diet. Things like alcohol for example, or going out to restaurants too much, that sort of thing. One BIG thing that helped me out of a plateau (though mine only lasted 3 weeks) was 'core exercises', I think it…

Wow, really awesome insightful replies. Thanks MFPers for the fresh ideas. BTW, that Candy Crush Saga analogy is gold, love it!

Don't take it so biblicaly is what I say. You think an extra 50 cals or a deficit of 30 cals is making any difference. And in any case, the number you see on your screen is an estimate, based on your BMR - (factors), these factors include day-to-day activities, any exercise you specify and a certain buffer. The whole…

Awesome! I also once heard this weird theory about the limbs being the first to lost weight due to evolution, since the body stores extra fat for "survival", it figures out that the belly is the best place to store it as the limbs move constantly hence if they get bigger then that will increase your calorific expenditure,…

Most common problem I would say. Here is my 2 cents: The higher of a figure you start at, the less you will notice weight loss. I started at roughly the same number as you last year. Now I'm at 92 kg, your target weight, so in many way I represent your journey! :) I only felt it when I went below the 100kg mark earlier…

I'd try 800 cals a day for as long as you can but for no more than 4 weeks. In the final 2 weeks bring it down a notch to 1000. Then go crazy on your wedding day and devour that cake! If you can couple that with fat burning cardio, like the stepping machine and the treadmill on 'fat burn' mode. That means you will do a…

That's one thing. The other is that in the workplace, especially in highly charged political ones like mine, giving people personal complements is often a sign of "sucking up" and can be held against you, especially when said in a vain non-sincere manner...

Agreed. I personally don't comment on other people's appearance unless it can only be construed as positive e.g. "nice dress" or "I'm loving your new hair cut". Weight, a bit iffy, unless it is initiated by the person who lost weight.

Been following MFP for a while. Just joined as I felt I wanted to pitch into this thread as it has been something bothering me for a while. I lost over 35lbs since last April. Since last year I've lost a good 60lbs and since 2011 I've lost 80lbs. It has been a crazy change, dropped from a waist 42" to now bordering 34".…
