SS, Sara, I've posted a link to a video I shot this morning showing my low bar squat form in the sticky thread on form. Critiques are appreciated. Thanks, Elia

http://youtu.be/noi-ZS_dxxs A newbee to lifting to lifting looking for a critique and advice on my form. Linked is a video I shot this morning performing low bar squats. I have tried to apply the technique described in Starting Strength. I've got a little wobble in my knees toward the end. Today the lift sequence was: 45…

Sara, For some reason I can't get the hyperlink to work using my ipad Is there a forum setting that you know of which will allow me to use, or even just copy, the URL? I think I could really use a trainer knowledgable in lifting to critique my form. I know that I don't know what a proper form should feel like to me when in…

In SS he describes a low bar (back) squat and I am following his form guidance. I am not familiar with what a high bar squat form is....but it could be that that is the form the trainer was trying to get me use....as you've described it just now. Elia

SideSteel, The first they picked at was my eye focal point at the bottom of the squat. Rippetoe describes focusing at a point four or five feet in front of you, on the ground. The trainer wanted me to look straight ahead, or even slightly up. Secondly they wanted my back to be more vertical, even at the bottom of the…

Greenrun99, Thanks for the reply. I'll keep a watch out for the knee during the squats. I don't lift that much; so far I've been doing either just the bar or the bar with some lighter plates on it. I haven't yet felt it, but will be cautious. On the deadlifts I haven't felt the hernia. I haven't tried a barbell press or an…

2587. 1 over for the day. Found I had to eat some left over ham and a slice of apple pie at 9:30pm in order to bring me up to my TDEE. I sure felt like I ate a large amount at Thanksgiving dinner this afternoon...didn't eat a latter dinner until the desire for that late snack.

Big congrats. You are truly inspiring. Thanks for the links to your approach and TDEE. Elia

In southern France, Aix en Provence, "le pied plaques" - tripe. All of the other food there was phenomenal. This though made me ill. Truly.

Kimberly, fpelletier, Thank you! I'm a fan of Power 90. I've lost another pound and a little more off my waist since having passed the 90 day point, and have now stabilized my weight at 170 pounds and am in a maintenance-ish mode. I'm still chugging along with essentially Power 90 phase 3-4, although now I'm doing a…

None of my pants fit and I found that I needed to purchase new ones with another 4 inches in the waistband!

I say - good on ya! It is your right and prerogative to know what you are eating. One of our children is very sensitive to artificial food colors and flavorings so we ask everywhere we eat what the nutritional data is. It is particularly important with desserts and sweet treats - it's unbelievable what is in sweets and…

Thanks all. I'll have to look in to a FitBit. I have timex watch/HRM which I use only during workouts. The chest strap would be clumsy and uncomfortable to wear all day. I'm much more active on weekends and vacations and holidays than on weekdays (desk job) and I haven't rolled those higher activity levels into my daily…

Kimberly, That is great to hear (the progress). Did you find it get a little bit easier as the week went along? If you are really feeling weak take a break. In my almost 3 months at it I've had four times where I stopped. Three were one day layoffs - either back ache or a couple of short illnesses. I even had a spell early…

Kimbery Thank you! I'll post again on the my day with whatever the final results are....and with wherever I think I'm following Power 90... All the best, Elia

Kimberly, It does get better. The first week is the toughest, as you're shocking your muscles in strenuous use. I know mine were shocked, havng been relatively sendintary before starting. Each week gets better. I had one spell where I was pulling back shoulder muscles repeatedly and had a theraputic massage to get rid of…

Kimberly, Way to go! Good for you. I think making commitment to a program like Power 90 is tough. I'm on day 81 of Power 90 so I'm almost at the end of it now. I clearly remember starting out. I was OUT OF SHAPE. I think it took me close to two weeks to become comfortable with most of the moves. The power yoga is tough. I…

Yes, I just do the DVD workout videos. When I was in phase 1-2 I probably could have done an additional workout, maybe some light cardio or something, but at least for me, the DVDs were enough. Now in phase 3-4 I wouldn't add anything extra. When I fully apply myself to the workouts (doing, or trying to do, the max's of 15…

Debraran1, Thanks for that lead! I've done just that - add two workouts under cardio, one for the 'circuit' workout and one for the 'sculpt' workout. Each day, after I've done my workout I input my HRM calories burned. So far I really like the way myfitnesspal works. I really really like power 90. As an office working 51…
