Again, false. No studies show this. I am not just claiming it's irrelevant because it "worked for me". Anecdotal evidence should be disregarded in terms of nutrition.
-
Eating frequently for the sole purpose of "boosting" your metabolism is simply foolish. Your metabolism does not "slow down" when you take large gaps between meals. There are no studies showing that meal frequency or size plays any role in metabolic rates.
-
False. Eating more frequently does not "boost" your metabolism, nor is it any better for you. What you are doing is FINE. Meal timing, size, and frequency are irrelevant in the context of weight loss. Check my diary, you'll see quite the large infrequent meals.

This x2. Short term results from a low carbohydrate diet can be explained by the simple fact that carbohydrates are water binding, so restricting them will lower body weight from glycogen and water. If all you are looking for is the number on a scale to move quickly in two weeks, by all means, do a LCD. I'm in it for LONG…
-
In a sense, yes. But claiming that it has relevance to anything outside of personal preference is just not true. Telling someone they have to eat 5-6 meals a day to lose and maintain weight, or even telling them they'll get better results doing that could lead to them doing it out of the feeling of necessity instead of…

Your body doesn't just stop burning calories when you sleep. I burn 800 calories a night in my sleep.
-
Just broke my fast. Big ole' plate of chicken and veggies.
-
False. Please explain your view.
-
No problem buddy. I wasn't harping on you at all, just the information.
-
Epic progress is epic, sir. Well done.

Why dinner small and breakfast large?
-
Meal timing, sizing, and frequency are irrelevant in terms of weight loss or gain. There are no advantages to eating small, frequent meals. Eat when it is comfortable and convenient for you.
-
While I respect the fact that you like eating 4/5 meals a day and there is nothing wrong with it, eating a meal right before bed does not mean it's going to be stored as fat. It doesn't matter what time of the day you eat, energy expenditure will be the same.
-
Yep. Meal timing and size come down to nothing but personal preference. There are no advantages or disadvantages to eating small, frequent meals vs. large meals 1-2 times a day in regards to weight loss or gain.
-
Not being rude or trying to start a flaming thread, but why do you think breakfast should be your biggest meal, and why is it important to eat 5-6 small meals a day?
-
Meal timing, size, and frequency are irrelevant to weight loss. Personally, my largest meal is usually around 6pm and consists of around 65% of my calories (1500-1700).
-
There's no way I would ever cut out foods I love. Just my opinion..
-
What in the world is considered "clean" eating?
-
This information is false and dangerous. You cannot eat the above foods in unlimited amounts and not gain weight. All foods contain calories, therefore they aren't "free" in the sense that they won't affect weight gain or weight loss.
-
Have you ever tried switching to diet soda? I know the taste isn't exactly the same, but you can enjoy it without having to worry about calories.
-
The only thing it will do will be add the calories from protein, fat, and carbs. The time of day you drink it has no relevance. It can be a good source of protein if you are coming up short on your protein goals.
-
Clean foods like the kind you wash before you eat them? :-)
-
The "green" and "red" diets would work simply by creating a calorie deficit, just like any other diet. Low carb, isocaloric, Zone, South Beach, etc. Not saying they don't work in terms of weight loss, just saying there isn't anything "magic" involved persay. Diet choice all comes down to personal preference.
-
First meal at noon, second meal around 5-6pm.
-
Pretty much. Chicken and veggies for lunch, cereal and oatmeal before bed. Just check my diary.
-
I drink them on a daily basis and LOVE them.
-
I respect your decision:-) I was just curious.
-
I believe that may have been in reference to the "carbs are used for energy or stored as fat" statement.
-
I'm not knocking you by any means, but may I ask you why you want to go vegetarian since you enjoy meat so much?
-
What's wrong with carbs late at night? I eat 90% of my carbs right before bed.
