  • You are not alone if you sometimes feel guilty. I joined MFP last year, and I developed such an unhealthy obsession with food and tracking calories, and I was constantly berating myself for going over my calories every now and then. I finally had to pull myself away from the website until I felt I was in a better head…
  • Eating healthy is definitely the hardest part for me. I have the palette of a four year old, so it's been hard to detract from my typical diet of chicken nuggets, corn dogs, mac & cheese, and PB&J sandwiches. I've created this self-imposed challenge to try one new thing every time I go to the grocery store, and today it…
  • I'd love some suggestions for this as well. Right now I usually always bring a cup of unsweetened applesauce and some type of granola bar, and for the main part of my lunch I bring either a Starkist tuna lunch pack (I don't use the relish and only 1/2 the mayo, so in my mind this is okay) or a peanut butter and banana…
  • If you're feeling nauseous after exercise there are a few things to consider. One is not eating enough before or after, but this doesn't seem to be the problem. However, try to make sure that you are consuming foods high in protein around your work outs. Second, you could be dehydrated. Dehydration will make you feel…
  • It's kind of like the Law of Conservation of Mass: "Matter cannot be created or destroyed." You can't gain calories or lose them, no matter what you do to the food. You CAN change the vitamins/sugars/starches/overall nutrition, but you can't gain calories. Fruits and vegetables are the ovaries of the plant they are grown…
  • Ginger Jean, Golden Retriever, 10 yrs old (11 at the end of August)...hopefully she lives long enough to see and live on my parents new farmland. I know that she'd love it. (please ignore the sign, it's the outdoor entertaining "smoker's butts" ash tray station) Daisy Belle Maisy, Papillion, 5 yrs old. I like to say that…
  • If you give the dog a fish oil pill and a tablespoon of olive oil with his food, his joints should loosen up and take some relief off of the arthritis. It will also moisturize his skin and shine up his coat.
  • I agree. I feel so bad for this dog. I've worked in and have many friends that run rescue shelters where we/they get about 5 to 10 new dogs a DAY and we've calculated that 90% of these dogs show up because their owners didn't want the responsibility of a pet, couldn't handle the temperament of the dog, or just didn't have…
  • Like the above poster said, I would just take self defense classes if protecting yourself is what you're aiming for. If you are looking for a more permanent hobby, I would recommend Tae Kwan Do or Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I haven't done either, but I go to a lot of events for both because my best friend does them. She's a 2nd…
  • Who has two thumbs and is an extremely picky eater?...this girl *points thumb at self*! I only ate hotdogs, mac & cheese, chicken nuggets, alfraedo, PB&J, cookies, chips, ice cream, and any junky sugary food I could get my hands on. Both my parents have demanding full time jobs that didn't bring them home until after 7 or…
  • I 100% completely understand where you are coming from. I only like three fruits (grapes, bananas, blueberries) and I can stomach a select few vegetables (lettuce is not one of them...no salad for me!) However, it is not the taste that bothers me, it is the texture. I'm extremely picky about the textures of my food. I'm…
  • Sounds good! I will definitely have to try this!
  • My dream has always been to get married in the Jacksonville Jaguars stadium...and yes, my wedding colors would be teal and gold. Lately though I've been fancying the idea of a winter wedding. Granted, I hate winter and all forms of precipitation that come along with it, but there's just something so elegant about a winter…
  • Thanks so much everyone! I think I'm going to go with the asiago peppercorn steak (I probably should have mentioned my shrimp phobia...don't ask  ). I might actually go with something on the kid's menu if they don't have an age limit on it...at 5'9" I can't exactly pretend to be 10 anymore!
  • I recently read an article that said only the treadmill is most accurate in calculating your calories burned. I think it said something about the technology not being evolved enough yet for it to correctly predict your burn on ellipticals, bikes, stair climbers, etc. The elliptical was said to be the most generous with…
  • He was working an unexpected 72 hour shift and didn't have any meals packed except for the 2 boxes of Fiber One bars sitting in his desk drawer, so he just kept grabbing them oblivious to the side effects. He refuses to eat one now.
  • Yes, Fiber One will do that to you. My step-dad once ate *gulp* 9 Fiber One Bars in one day...he was so sick he just lied on the floor and couldn't move anything without it hurting.
  • When I get complimented on my weight loss I shyly smile and say "Thank you, I'm trying." When I get told I look pretty, I'm extremely awkward and say something like, "Oh, um, good genes I guess? Make-up helps..."
  • It's not about cutting her down. Like a previous poster said, the cautions come out of pure concern. I took pills when I was 18 and I lost about 10 pounds on them in slightly over a month. I started feeling more irritable and fatigued because they severely dehydrated my body and didn't let me eat because I felt full all…
  • It really isn't a problem, in fact, it could be good for you. I don't really pay attention to my protein numbers because I have a protein metabolic type and was advised to eat 70% protein/fats and 30% carbs. I would worry more about how you feel at the end of each day. If you exceeded your protein goal and feel…
  • There is this gorgeous form-fitting dress at Express that I'd love to wear to my cousin's wedding in wine country this May. I also want to sometime this summer rock a floral romper I saw at Forever 21. Summer clothes in general are my motivation right now. I'm going to California in May (San Francisco/Napa Valley) and I'm…
  • I'm on YouTube too! http://www.youtube.com/user/KrystalLight03?feature=mhum I originally started making videos to join the beauty community, but I'm enjoying more talking about my weight loss journey (only 2 vids so far on that...not too exciting). I'll check out your channel as well :)
  • What kind of Fiber One cereal are you referring to? I just checked the label on my Honey Clusters and I didn't see aspartame anywhere.
  • It could be likely that because you are working out consistently it is taking you longer and more intensity to get your heart rate up. This would bring down your number of calories burned. You're in better shape now than when you started so you're not burning the same amount anymore.

  • That was 3 or 4 years ago, and I am in a very much better place now. I am very lucky to have a devoted mother that counters every one of my dad's horrible attributes with a wonderful one, and I couldn't think more highly of the man she chose to bring into our home and raise me. I've spent the last few years estranged from…
  • I put on the "goody goody" image at school and many classmates accused me of being perfect...what they didn't know was that I strove to create the "perfect" image so they wouldn't find out that my biological dad (who I was extremely close with) had been in and out of jail 3 times within a period of 8 years. My sophomore…
  • I am!!! I'm currently going to school in Bloomington, but my home is NWI.
  • If you don't like, just find something else to do. You'll only dread exercise if you don't do things you love. I myself am not a runner/jogger. The only time you will see me running is if some one or some thing is chasing me. I do enjoy a good walk now and then (when the weather permits...which means not now), but most of…
  • All the time. I tend to eat out of boredom or out of habit while watching TV. If I'm not hungry but really want to eat, I'll pour a glass of water or chew a piece of gum. It keeps my mouth busy and stops me from grabbing the thin mint cookies.
