  • Looking to a rescue group is an excellent idea - often the dogs are in a foster home and the fostering family can tell you much about the dog's personality. I have two greyhounds (greyt hounds) now, and they're my first of this breed. The resuce group in my state (teamgreyhound.com) rescues the dogs from race tracks and…
  • What a fantastic job you've done! Your profile says you want to be someone your proud of, and guess what - you've made it!!! I especially love the picture on your profile where you're sitting across from a door with a long mirror - it really captures how great you're looking :flowerforyou:
  • You look fabulous!!!! May I also add that you have a great sense of humor and sound like a fun, up beat person - rock on!!!!!!!
  • Hi Lisa! You have SO come to the right place to help you succeed! For me, the most important thing in being able to become healthier, lose weight, and get stronger is to change my mindset. I had failed so many times at trying to lose weight I'd gotten to the point of thinking, "Why even try...I'm just going to frustrate…
  • <Bows respectfully to your advanced level of spreadsheets> Thanks so much for your efforts with this - I can't wait to take a look at it and am going to post a link on my thread :flowerforyou:
  • What a wonderful, heartwarming story! Women like you are the runners who've inspired me. I'm about the same size as you and always thought I wouldn't be able to run because of my weight. I'd read posts of women larger than me that were doing C25K and succeding and that spurred me to give it a try. Anytime you see one of…
  • I've dabbled in lifting on and off for short spurts, but started back regularly 3 weeks ago. I did day 1 of New Rules of Lifting for Women yesterday and I'm really excited to know I'll be looking like you fine ladies in no time at all. I've lost a decent amount so far from diet, some running, and occasional weights but I'm…
  • You have such a modest post here - it should read something like: "LOOK AT ME!!! LOOK AT WHAT I DID!!! I LOOK FANTASTIC!!!!" Incredible job :flowerforyou:
  • Holy Toledo you look stunning! You're way better than Tom Cruise at accomplishing your mission :) Congrats on an amazing effort!
  • I think this may be one of the best posts I've ever seen - I am so happy for you both, and for your son - what a great inspiration his parents have become for him!
  • Two that are tied: Start...Stop...Start...Stop...Start... you get the idea Instead of start>finish #2 46 years old, and I'll be where I want fitness/weight-wise at 47....that's at least 25 years too late. I'm trying to make up for that by encouraging my 20 year old daughter and setting a better example
  • We might be able to take you up on your kind offers, but you men probably couldn't run fast enough to keep up with us
  • I second and third this post!!! I call it my "lock and load" bra. At 42D and 46 years old there was no hope of running without hurting myself and setting off minor earthquakes. My enell bra keeps everything totally in place while running. I recommend hanging to dry. It does feel tight and I wouldn't want to wear it unless…
  • I'm so glad you posted! I'm finally getting around to starting NROLW and I know the program will work well. I've never been afraid of muscles and I like when people can tell I'm lifting but I'm not 'overdone'. Your description of calorie intake was very helpful and I find it really encouraging to see what you weigh at 2…
  • I have to say I'm particularly loving that last photo at the gym :blushing: You look great!!!!
  • Update: I did my first 5K Saturday hoping to finish by 45 minutes. I was so happy when I made it in 39 1/2 minutes! I picked up a bunch of flyers for upcoming races and will be doing my next one in two weeks. Yup - I've got the 5K bug! Sign up and have a blast!!!!!

  • Happy Birthday and welcome to the best year of your life! So glad you're here on MFP - it's a wonderful thing!
  • How positively wonderful.........that song "What a Wonderful World" comes to mind looking at your pictures.....it's a wonderful thing that you've been able to take control and create so much success for you. No need to wish you continued success, because I have no doubt it's a done deal for you!:flowerforyou:
  • I'm impressed with your weight loss, but equally impressed with the running! What great determination to get to the point of surviving a 10K! That still sounds daunting to me. Keep up the fine effort - you're looking great!
  • Wow, that tummy is looking great!!! And I LOVE your hair :flowerforyou:
  • Eating a fantastic nectarine then off to my sister's to celebrate her 45th birthday (fortunately, no cake planned)
  • My MFP friend let me know about this challenege - I'm no Hairy Potter fan, but I'm certainly a fan of exercising more and losing weight! Please add me in and pretty please put me on a team with 139pilotwife - we've never met in person but will be running a 5K together in November. How cool is that to be able to run with…
  • @nevergiveup - those are 'young looking' arms - tough to guess without a face but I'd go with 20-25 - cheated and checked your profile and saw i was pretty close!
  • Bumping to follow your progress - like you, a lift is going to be my reward after keeping the weight off for one year. That should be great encouragement to maintain. Gravity can just be so cruel to a the ladies! You're looking absolutely beautiful, and I'm thinking you'll make a fantastic recovery and feel absolutely…
  • The giant tub of protein powder and my blender stay on the sink rather than in the cupboard - back at lifting and love the shakes with fruit and some almond milk blended with the chocolate powder :)
  • Me.....because I'm working....and you can see I'm not doing too good of a job at it...procrastination is a wonderful thing :grumble:
  • My advice is to come here next Saturday and run the 5K I've just signed up for - that way you're certain to not finish dead last. I've done C25K but then slacked off. At my peak I ran 2.1 miles once, and that took me 40 minutes. I'm sure I'll end up walking more of it then running.......BUT......I will be trying and I will…

  • I have two greyhounds and started couch25k thinking I'd be able to run with them - WRONG! they weave too much and like to stop all of a sudden to sniff no matter how I try to keep them going. Naturally if I've just done a really heavy workout and want to take them for a leisurely walk they're suddenly ready to enter a…
  • Definitely, definitely, definitely!!! I'd also tell her supervisor or the owner of the facility that hires her if she isn't working totally independently. I'm a big fan of seeking out a manager, supervisior, etc. and letting them know whenever I get good service - it takes two seconds and can just make someone's day. If…
  • Yes, the reality is WE LOVE FOOD!!!! It amazes me that some people don't understand that. How can something I find to be so pleasurable just mean "oh yeah, I eat cause you gotta" to someone else. I want to tell you about a program I came across through a friend who was appx. 5'8" tall and I'm guessing about 225-250 pounds.…
