I think its recommended that you eat within a hour of waking up--it's called "break-fast" for a reason...gotta wake up that metabolism! Obviously everyone is different but I think that if you wait/don't eat, you could run the risk of overeating later. JMP though. I run 8 miles in the morning so I have to eat within 45…

That shot is me, 25 lbs ago, at my "normal" weight, so don't worry, not trying to drop 25 from what's seen there. I'm lactose intolerant, thus the need for soy over whey. I'm getting about 120g of protein now, fairly even spread across the day, maybe 10-15 g more at breakfast after my run.

Thank you. FYI, to the original poster disagreeing with me--- no one is saying that you need to "hunt your own turkey" for it to be healthy. What she has logged in her diary (to which I was referring) was highly processed "deli" meat that is pumped full of saline solution. I think you have a skewed view of what processed…

Sorry-- I didn't mean to say that because I don't eat red meat, I HAVE to have protein powder-- I eat a ton of chicken and fish, but I often can't stomach it after a long workout (which is where the PP comes in). I have an egg white omelet for breakfast with a protein/berry shake, a salad with chicken or fish for lunch,…

I really can't tell if this is sarcasm or not

So, I hate to break it to you, but about, 90% of what you are eating I wouldn't call healthy? Yes, you do have fruit. But where is your lean protein? You aren't eating any vegetables, and what little protein you do have is processed and pumped full of sodium. ETA-- the fats in your diet are also mostly partially…

Definitely another vote for rowing.

I've been eating gluten free for the last 3 months, and I've never felt better. I definitely don't have Celiac, but I have to have a sensitivity of some kind because I get awful IBS flareups whenever I have it. Some things are worse than others-- for example, cereal and crackers are much worse than if I drink beer--like,…

Agree with squats. Kettlebells are going to jack up your back more. I personally love deadlifts but I think that it's really easy to have improper form. Ease up until you feel better then add them back in, but make sure you're watching yourself in a mirror to make sure you aren't arching your back too much or slouching.

WOW it's almost eerie how similar our diets are, except I have protein (usually chicken or shrimp) but my breakfast and dinner are vegetarian. But pretty much the same, down to the coconut oil and soy/cocoa/fruit smoothies and the fact that I cut a few things out now that my boyfriend and I are long distance! Crazy. As for…

I hate that there is an assumption that you can't possibly LOVE healthy foods and LOVE working out. I absolutely love fresh fruit, roasted vegetables, fresh fish, etc. I can't stand eating fried foods-- I think they taste bland and make me feel sick after I eat them. I don't eat candy or baked goods because they taste…

Any lighter colored alcohols (vodka, gin, light rum, tequila) are slightly less in calories than darker ones (whiskey, scotch, wine, beer, etc), and have fewer compounds that cause you to have hangovers. A lot of my girlfriends think that a Gin and tonic is the best "diet" drink at the bar...Tonic is soda!! Lot's of sugar…

I really hope so! I'm also around 5'7/5'8, and 22. Just graduated last May so I totally understand the frustration with the expensive Uni gyms...each year of tuition was more than my salary now so, I feel like I should have been getting a personal trainer included haha! Can I ask what your current workout routine is?

Amazing!! It's so crazy-- 15 lbs doesn't seem like a lot at all but makes such an incredible difference on your body. I'm hovering at 155 right now also and trying to get back to 120 (where I was for the last 10 years). Definite inspiration for me that even that first 15 lbs will make a huge difference.

Since when are guava and honey fat sources?

agreed, it's whatever works best for you. I run 6+ miles every morning, so I can't imagine not having a huge breakfast after that, but then I hate having a ton of food at dinner because I sleep 3 hours after I eat, usually. So that's what works for me-- but then I am sure there are a ton of people who can't stomach a big…

You look incredible. I gained 30 pounds this summer (due to living with my boyfriend who is a huge foodie, but a lean and mean athlete), originally 5'8", 125. I've always been pretty thin, but have always been a super heathy eater (all clean, no red meat or dairy) so gaining weight so quickly was a real shock to my body…

Exactly my thoughts. We weren't meant to be completely sedentary all the time; I definitely wouldn't count something like that as exercise, it's just a part of your daily lifestyle. I count anything where my heart rate is in my target zone as exercise....everything else is just day-to-day activity.

I WAS TOTALLY ABOUT TO POST MOIST AND PANTIES!!! They are the WORST. Also, "Pungent" and "Gelatinous"

Hate to be harsh, but if you want to continue with your new lifestyle, you HAVE to have willpower. Eating with friends is an extremely social activity (especially in our society), and I think it's really important to learn how to still make good choices when you are out. Trust me, as a college student, there are constant…

Okay this is exactly my situation. I work out a LOT. I mean, like, 2 hours of cardio a day, and eat a very clean, zero processed foods diet that I would say is 50% Vegetable, 35% protein, 15% fruit, lol. I mean, I should not be gaining weight. I am always at a caloric deficit. I lift heavy 5x a week. It's frustrating…

Definitely not hormonally related-- I've never been one of those women whose hormones get out of whack on their period. I do agree that it is emotionally related, but I wish I could put my finger on exactly what that is. I feel so disgusting right now, which on the bright side will keep me from doing it again for at least…

Yeah, I'm usually good about just not having it in the house period as that is one food I KNOW I can't have around. I'm visiting family, so it's here...I mean, it obviously could be so much worse-- it's not cake or cookies or whatever-- but it's still a TON of calories.

So many things.... 1) I'm a health freak, both in terms of exercise and nutrition, so it always feels better (mentally) when I know I'm eating and working out properly. 2) I FEEL a thousand times better when I'm in shape. I absolutely HATE the saying, but I really do believe that nothing tastes as good as thin (but strong…

Alcohol. Mostly wine (red or white), vodka, tequila, and whiskey. At the moment I'm "giving" up nuts and dried fruit, simply because the last few months I have been absolutely bingeing on them, which definitely contributed to a 15 lbs gain. I've permanently cut out all red meat since I was 11 (so for the last 10 years) and…

Once a week, friday mornings, after I workout and go to the bathroom and right before I shower :)

7, but Sunday is usually a light day, like an hour of cardio and abs. Otherwise, M-F heavy (2 hr cardio, 45 weights) and saturday medium-ish (an hour of cardio, weights)

I don't because A) I stop losing weight when I do and B) I'm never hungry enough to eat more I know a ton of people disagree with this and that's okay, this is just what personally works for me. You guys can hate on me all you want, but I truly believe that (at least for me) "starvation mode" is something you reach when…

If you post what exactly you are doing in terms of exercise, as well as EXACTLY what you are eating, it'll be much easier to help you? I know that a lot of people think they "eat fairly healthy" or "are pretty active" but there can be really small things that are really holding you back from results. If you post that stuff…

5 foot 8, shooting to get back to 120, which is where I was last year. I know it's on the thin side, but as a former long distance runner, it's where I'm most comfortable.
