If you weighed it raw, use that. I don't know about boiling, but I've read sweet potatoes lose up to have their water when you bake them, but they don't lose calories. So you'll get a more accurate count raw.

I've run at every weight. It's harder when you're heavy, but still good for you. As long as you don't have a medical reason not to do it, go for it and take it slow. What's weird is that when I started MFP, I actually started running less and walking more, and I think that's helped me lose weight. Because I only run a few…

Let me ups with straight legs. I just can't do it! I go up about an inch.

I have more caffeine. :) Actually, getting enough sleep is better for weight loss, so definitely don't eat more on days you don't.

This is going to sound nuts, but last night I had this insane urge to basically binge, despite having had plenty of food and not being physically hungry. I went through a series of mental steps to try to talk myself down ("you're doing well! Don't blow it." And "you can have those foods tomorrow. You're not even hungry! It…

Last night I tried the new Mexican place in my neighborhood. I made sure to go for a morning run and not have any snacks, and it fit my calories just fine. Well, probably it did. Restaurant nutrition is always a guess. Totally worth it either way, though. Yum!

If you make salads in mason jars the lettuce stays good all week. Dressing on the bottom, then whatever would be ok to marinate in it for a few days (tomatoes, protein), then chopped veggies to keep the lettuce from the wet ingredients. Fill the jar full so there's no wiggle room or air. I also often make a hotdish-type…

I think strength training can only help. I'm new to it too. I downloaded the You Are You Own Gym app. It's 3 or 4 dollars. You can do it at home with no/minimal equipment, and there are videos and written descriptions of the moves. I know you have a gym membership, so maybe that will work better for you, but this has been…

Kashi hummus chips. I bought a bunch at grocery outlet because they are about 90 calories for a small bag, and it is like eating a bag of chips! I also might be the last person on MFP to discover Quest bars, but they really are very filling. Today is a travel day for me, and they are a lifesaver!

I agree with the cooking advice, and I general I agree that if there's something you want, it's best to find a way to make it fit your calories, but in this case I actually think it's best to just make those restaurants off-limits for a while. I did this years ago with candy at work. I don't even like candy bars! But…

Wait, so if I bought preparation h gel and did this, what would happen? Other than me feeling very silly.

I log as I go most of the time (phone app). But if I've cooked ahead, I peeling and then update if needed. For example, my next few dinners are logged because I have leftovers to eat. And tomorrow is fully logged because I will be going out and it makes me feel better to have a plan in place. Or sometimes if I want a treat…

Do you eat meat? If do, how about salmon? Great as a fillet or in a salad, and it feels special enough to me for a holiday meal.

I had a sort of vague desire to be at or near my goal by my birthday in February. Looks like I have a good chance of succeeding there. Lately I've had some whooshes, and they've given me a strong but probably futile desire to be there by Christmas. I don't think this is possible, but since I can't help secretly wanting it…

* I had to go Black Friday shopping for the first time ever, not to buy gifts, but because all my dresses are too big and I don't have anything to wear to holiday parties and I can't afford to pay full price. * I carefully trained my dog to enjoy sleeping in, and now I'm awake and ready for our walk and he is hiding under…

Not that it matters how the app schedules you, but you can set it for whatever day and time you want. I mostly don't bother since it's just a reminder notification and I just clear it and ignore it if it's a rest day. Also, you get more variety as you get further in.

I just entered the parts of the meal I know are on the menu, using generic entries that won't allow for any extras the cook includes (I'm not trying eat at a deficit today, I'm just tracking loosely because I love data and I like when my little charts have weird spikes). So no side dishes or appetizers entered yet because…

Way to with the run! That's a big leap in the program, and now that you've cleared it, the whole thing will be so much better! Go you!

Mason jar salads. Just google for ideas if you want to do this, they are all over Pinterest. But I love them, because I can make five salads on Sunday night--often with the leftovers of whatever big meal I experimented with over the weekend, plus some veggies and a ton of spinach--and then lunch is made for the week. HUGE…

Also, a related question: if it's that hard to get enough through eating normal, healthful foods, is the RDA just unrealistic and inaccurate? What's it based on anyway?
-
I don't have the answer, but I'd like to find out if anyone here does. I've noticed I'm always low on iron, but last Sunday I ate two servings of pot roast, an egg, and spinach...and did not meet the RDA. I mean, is it just not possible? I do love spinach and broccoli, but that was an abnormal amount of red meat for a…

What an amazing story. And what an amazing role model you are for your kids. Congratulations!

I've been doing this for a few months now, but it makes me nervous a bit too. I'm giving myself thanksgiving off (logging as much as is feasible but not worrying about the numbers), and I'm using my nerves as encouragement to get in some extra exercise. Also, I remind myself that a holiday is just that--it'll be great to…

That's awesome! Good for you. I decided recently that I will be able to of a real pull-up by 2015, and I'm so intimidated by that that I've typed 3015 about 4 times. You're inspiring!
-
Thanks you! That looks promising. I don't know why I'm stressing about this. I can't even DO a pull-up. But I'll never be able to if I don't try, right?

I have PCOS, and I have never been on medication for it (well, birth control). I've lost more than 40 pounds. You can do it!
