  • Go in and get fitted for the right type of shoe. It is no secret that shoes really REALLY make all the difference in the world. It's not just a matter of you having just a little bit of uncomfortable feeling in your feet. Properly fitted shoes can save you from serious injury and miles upon miles of unnecessary pain. Sure,…
  • I'm not an expert but it sounds like you might possibly have a high instep that gets irritated by gradient changes. There are different shoe lacing techniques you can research to resolve this if it is the culprit. Do you have high arches?

  • ..... ........ Come on a few runs with me and I'll show you how "useless" it really is.
  • Men get the head node, women get the slight wave. I feel like I have to give the extra effort wave to women so they don't assume rapey vibes are coming from me.
  • I think there is a type of martial art that focuses more on using the other persons body and energy against them so you dont expend as much. I could be wrong though, the only martial art I know personally is drunken, pissed off redneck.
  • Or if they turned while wearing "floaties"
  • yep, or at least have no qualms about pushing people down on your way out. There's no rules in love and zombie apocalypse.
  • If you are worried about your knees then start out your walks/runs on trails. They have far less impact on your knees and actually can give you a much harder workout than the street. Plus that whole scenery thing.
  • You should find a local hash house harriers club if your body liked the beer/running mix. Mine enjoys it as well. but yeah sometimes a 9 minute pace can feel like you're in hell when a few days ago you were hitting a 7 minute pace for miles feeling like a rockstar. It just happens. When it happens to me I just tell myself…
  • You might want to check last years results for the race you plan on doing. What really shocked me (and still does) is that the 30-40 age group for men around my area is actually the most competitive class. Even if you run at the lower 6 min paces you would be lucky to make it in the top 10 of the age group. So yeah, check…
  • I assume what you mean by "artificial protein" is real protein but just not directly from food as chicken as protein powder is actually real protein. The side effects you read about come from EXTREMELY high levels of protein intake. Like you are just downing protein shake after protein shake in between stuffing eggs down…
  • I've gone to Gatliburg several times with friends and the views are amazing. They have enough trails there to keep you busy all weekend and still leave some left to explore for another trip. Plus cabins are extremely reasonably priced. Locals are really helpful and friendly. The views are amazing especially in the fall.
  • Every chance I get I'm gone...even if it's just me and my dog. Hiking the entire appalachian trail start to finish in one shot is on my bucket list. Just need to figure out how to financially take 6 months off work when I like buying crap way too much.
  • I hated H-A-T-E-D running until I was able to run 3 miles comfortably. After I got to that level of running fitness then running transformed from just a workout to my de-stress fun time and I became addicted (former gym rat only who scoffed at runners.) The first mile still sucks to this day but after that my body decides…
  • Slow down! For reals. Find a motivational paragraph/song refrain you like, hell, even pledge of allegiance. If you cant say that out loud while you're jogging then your pace is too fast for what you are trying to accomplish. Faster pace will come with experience and distance at this point in your career. You'll never get…
  • MFP will go by the guidelines of your targeted net loss for that week via caloric intake. If you are targeting 1lb a week weight loss and it has you setup to eat 1600 cals a day to accomplish that AND you work out then it will up your calories to you are still at only a 1lb a week weight loss. (basically will add calories…
  • The only acceptable answer should be: Not enough...unless your name is Benedikt Magnússon.
  • I'm in the switch to the half camp. OP, just know that these people telling you to switch to half are not telling you that because they don't think you can do it. It is absolutely possible that you can. What they are telling you is that when you ramp up that kind of mileage from TRAINING for it without an already long…
  • I'm jelly of your disappointing time. The scenery is probably better around my pace time anyway :( (trying to make myself feel better)
  • I have the uncanny ability to attract full term pregnant strippers both in and outside the club...yeah, it's as awkward as you'd imagine it to be. I'm also ashamed to admit that I find it weirdly amusing at the same time.
  • BMI 26 <--overweight still...dammit You have a lower BMI than 73% of males aged 30-44 in your country <---- that is kinda sad You have a higher BMI than 64% of males aged 30-44 in the world <----meh You're most like someone from Honduras* <--wait, what????
  • My favorite right now, especially the last line: “Gentlemen, we are going to relentlessly chase perfection, knowing full well we will not catch it, because nothing is perfect. But we are going to relentlessly chase it, because in the process we will catch excellence. I am not remotely interested in just being good.” ~…
  • It's Friday.....is there a cliff notes version available?
  • If they really did do what they advertise (which is unregulated so you know how that goes) would you really want to do it? If something is sitting undigested in your stomach then it's going to ferment there and you are going to end up a bloated, gassy, probably about to poop yourself mess whenever you eat your favorite…
  • Considering the only way that this could even come close to not being a financial sinking ship is to overcharge the young and healthy, I just don't see them caring much about those kind of incentives. It is a nice thought though.
  • I'm a night eater as well. I found that eating slowly really helps me out. Like eat slow and when you think you are eating slow, eat slower.
  • She insisted on introducing me to her friends as "Señor Wong Wong" every time we went out.
  • (crying tears of nostalgic crush glory)
  • I learned that I am still not a real man and only a dog because I like "bones" Who knew I was a high functioning canine...need to find a way to make money off myself now.
  • Listen to Jeff Goldblum. He is correct.
