It's easy to get discouraged, but it's great that you're back to give it another go. 1. If you aren't already using one, get a food scale. Seriously. This is one of the single best things you can do for yourself, and it only costs about $20 or less. Our idea of "servings" is waaaaay off. Only a food scale can tell you how…

Thanks! That's good info. I guess I need to experiment a bit with exactly how long I delay breakfast in order not to feel overly stuffed by dinner. I sometimes go to the gym after work, and that would be pretty wretched as full as I feel right now. ETA: It's rather bizarre to feel stuffed on aprox. 1200-1450 cals when, on…

Black bean hummus has fewer calories and it can get pretty spicy. Authentic or not, it's way delicious!

Buy steak. Place steak on hot grill. Flip. Rest. Eat. Or...if you want to go true caveman Paleo: Kill steak. Place steak on hot grill. Flip. Rest. Eat.

I've never thought about before/after a shower. I try to do it in the morning, preferable after a good poop, before any food. That may or may not be before a shower, depending on my schedule for the day.

Finding the correct numbers. I think that my metabolism must be slow or something...when I use the numbers from MFP or from any TDEE calculator, I don't lose weight. I use a food scale, I use a heart rate monitor to record cardio, I know I'm logging accurately, and I keep lowering my goal, but I have yet to hit the magic…

I keep canned soup in my work desk drawer, as well as a few low cal frozen items in the freezer like egg white and canadian bacon sandwiches. Chicken tenderloins can be marinated overnight, they cook really fast, and you can thrown them into salad, pasta, wraps, whatever. You can cook up enough for a few days and do…

My detox water comes from the tap. Of course, I have to detox it before I drink it.

I'll be gobsmacked!

Crap. I didn't even notice the caption. My bad. Meanwhile, here's another *kitten* hanging out.... [

This thread is full of asshattery! I call shenanigans.

The majority of this reads to me as "words you should add to your vocab posthaste!" How about asshattery?

Gah. I hate when that happens!

But...but...twatwaffle is my most favoritest word evarrrrrrrr!!! Douche canoe is a new one for me, though. Definitely need to find a reason to say that at work today. Thanks!

I have a Zephyr chest strap which syncs with various apps on my phone. I'm taking my phone anyway to listen to music, and this way the apps state my HR and zone in my earbuds and I don't have to keep looking at anything or interrupt my stride to glance at my wrist. The apps like Runkeeper and iCardio also measure a bunch…

I mean, if it's ok for one person, it's ok for everybody, right?

Now you know why your Aunt Bessie seemed a bit "different."

Zevia: http://www.zevia.com/ You can find them at Whole Foods and a bunch of other "healthy" supermarkets.

I finally quit the PF and went back to Rush. I still find nothing at all wrong with the PF here, but I missed the power rack, pool, sauna, steam room, classes, and when I went to visit to make my decision, I found that the Rush had added a lateral elliptical which is FUN AS *kitten*!! It's 3x as much and it's across town,…

What things are you doing at your gym that you could not do at home? Do you lift? Do you have access to weights outside the gym? Do you use the cardio equipment? Is there a safe/convenient replacement, such as walking or running on a nearby track? Are there extras that your gym offers which keep you motivated that you…

I was once diagnosed with IBS. This was 20 years ago, before the whole gluten fad. I had terrible digestive issues, painful bloating after every meal to the point that I would sometimes have to leave work early and go home to lie down. This went on for years. It went away. I never took medication for it, I never eliminated…

Walking is low impact, and stationary bikes are also low impact. I sometimes park myself on a treadmill or bike and pull up something on Netflix on my phone and just keep going for the whole show or movie. It's a great way to distract myself from how long I've been going and keep my mind occupied.

I am terribly uncoordinated and clumsy with no rhythm. Following those classes pose a real challenge for me, especially if they're fast paced. I can understand it being discouraging. It really does get easier the more you do it, and regardless of whether your'e out of sync with everyone else, the goal is to get fitter and…

Really? Because this is a result from an actual study on aspartame and weight loss: "The aspartame group lost significantly more weight overall (P = 0.028) and regained significantly less weight during maintenance and follow-up (P = 0.046) than did the no-aspartame group. "

I don't always feel it in my glutes as I'm doing it, but they sure do get sore later, so I know I'm working them. Does your butt get sore after, or just your quads?

If there were a wheat "allergy," then why would this allergy not be testable like other known allergens? Why wouldn't gluten get a reaction in the IgE skin test?

I have plenty of experience eating gluten. Is that what you mean?
