Try the lateral ellipticals. Totally different experience. It will work your thighs and glutes in ways they've never been worked, and you can vary which muscles you're working by your position on the machine. You can even lean back or squat to increase the difficulty.
-
If you have it on a very low setting, you won't expend as much energy or burn as many calories. Definitely try ramping it up. Most machines have options like intervals or hills as well.

I'm 40, will be turning 41 in July. My boyfriend and I have made a commitment to getting healthy. We're determined to be able to run 5Ks and mud runs and hike with his son. I'm determined to be able to do pushups and chinups with the boys. I'm determined, and I know I can do it!

Deli chicken, turkey or ham in the flavor of your choice, rolled up with a bit of mustard. If you're splurging, add some cheese.

Most fitness trackers have an issue with ellipticals. The Up is no exception.

Just today I was told that it was bizarre that I am so unfailingly cheerful, yet cynical at the same time. I consider that a high compliment.

Bump for after work. Thanks!

TJ Maxx usually has tons of stuff. I can get brands like Nike and Reebok and Adidas, sports bras and running, yoga or capri pants for less than $15 each. Edited for typo.

Does my boyfriend's tongue count?

I want to be able to run a 5k and a mud run by the end of summer.

I just recently started Stronglifts 5x5 and I was quite proud to bench 60 lbs today. I'm sure I could go higher but I'm trying to gauge having just enough weight to fail at the end, after 5 sets of 5. My bf made me squeeze out another couple at the end today, so I'm probably ready to go up.

If you like pudding, you can make Jello instant with unsweetened almond milk (use half the amount the instructions on the box calls for...almond milk doesn't set the pudding the way cow's milk does) and a bowl of Cool Whip Free. You end up around 30 - 50 cals depending on how big your servings are.

I second the Yurbuds. Got mine at Walmart. They stay in even when sprinting.

Or if they try to sell you Herbalife...

I'm eating around 1450, and this is why: I don't care what the scale says, I'm looking to replace fat with muscle, so I hope to go from 155 lbs to whatever weight will give me around 22% body fat with some muscle and definition. So I'm lifting heavy along with my cardio, and I don't want to cut the calories too much to…
-
Wow, great job! What a huge difference! That first set of pics, with the same shirt, really show a great improvement! That style is now actually rather flattering for you!
-
Yes, I avoid lifting with the same muscle group, or just do some long, light cardio keeping my HR around zone 2 or 3. That's a good time to watch Netflix on my phone while doing the elliptical or bike.

How many calories does one burn generating the heat of a flame war?
-
See what you can find online free before you invest money in something. Fitnessblender isn't the only site with tons of videos. Youtube even has bunches, including a lot of Jillian Michaels.
-
Excuse me, is this where I go to place my Herbalife order?

For motivation, I have a Pinterest page. I save photos of fantastically fit women and motivational sayings, and when I just don't feel like hitting the gym, I pull up that Pinterest page and look through and SO MUCH WANT that I get pumped up to go do it already.

I have a Zephyr chest strap which connects by bluetooth to my phone. I use Runkeeper or iCardio apps to read and record it. They both give tons of info, and can even help with training by announcing when you've reached a HR zone, telling you your HR in your earbuds, and announcing times for intervals. I usually take my…

Or you could just go to Wendy's for a Jr. vanilla Frosty: 190 cals!!

Treadmill can be boring. Why not try outdoors? You could try an app like Couch 2 5K (or even more fun: Zombies, Run! 5K) that will help motivate you.

I do some crochet and bookbinding, but I'm actually an artist, so I make stuff more like this: www.robinperrystudio.squarespace.com/

No Crunch here. I need 24 hour access as I work some topsy-turvy hours. My choices are the PF within walking distance of my house for $10 or the Rush across town for $30. I used to be with the Rush, and am considering rejoining only because PF lacks the free weight equipment I'm looking for, but I have a feeling my resolve…

Exactly. That's why feathers do not weigh more than steel and the change in your pocket does not weigh more than the dollar bills in your pocket. They're merely more dense, just like a lot of people. For example, when someone says "Which one weighs more" and someone else goes "Well, a pound of this weighs the same as a…

My hair sometimes has more volume than at other times. Does that make it heavier?

In looking at your diary, it appears that you don't always track your calories, but when you do track, you don't eat nearly enough. You're averaging around 800 calories a day. Is that right?

Some Wii games can get you moving, but not at a significant or sustained rate, for the most part. Dance games with a dance pad are more likely to get your heart rate up a bit. Most of the actual fitness games sort of suck. Read reviews of the games carefully before deciding on one. ETA: As much as I love my Wii, I don't…
