  • I track on MFP because it has a larger food database and the ability to enter food through scanning the barcode with my camera phone. I love SparkPeople's recipes and articles, though.
  • My almond milk tastes great and is only 30 calories a cup. Cow's milk messes with my sinuses and I don't like the taste. The ONLY thing almond milk won't do is congeal instant pudding...but it still works fine if you use half as much and add a bowl of Cool Whip Free.
  • Congrats! The best thing about these pics is the progression into cuter and cuter clothes :)
  • I also use MapMyRide for biking and Zombies 5K for running motivation (working my way up to the regular Zombies game) And I have JeFit which gives detailed instructions and a little video for just about any exercise move you can think of. It comes in handy in the gym if I'm feeling a bit lost on how to do something.
  • I love my Zephyr. It connects to my phone instead of a watch, and it works with a bunch of different apps. I'm using iCardio and Runkeeper currently. I would be bringing my phone along anyway for music and Zombies! Run! and some of the apps I use also have voice coaching ("Increase speed to stay in target zone"...that kind…
  • For workouts I use iCardio and Runkeeper and a Zephyr heart rate monitor which feeds directly to my phone. Both apps have a ton of info about your workouts, and they feed into MFP.
  • It's not an ideal situation, but that doesn't mean it can't be done. You will need an initial investment of time, but you pretty much only have to do this once: Sit down with a computer and look up the nutritional info on all of the places you normally would eat. If no nutritional info is available, stop eating there or…
  • It's no wonder people are fat when food restaurants are telling us that these gigantic plates are a serving, and then we go home and find that the stuff in our cupboards lie in the opposite direction. It's crazy!
  • So...what kind of sammich should I make my awesome amazing boyfriend for dinner? Grilled steak? Roasted chicken? Marinated portabella?
  • I also am a member of a 24-hour gym and I do go in the middle of the night quite often, usually between 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. or so, when I get off work. I find that it's not nearly as busy as it is during the day, and I like not having to wait for anything. I also like having fewer guys around the free weights so I'm not…
  • I'm always up for a ren faire, a costume ball or a video game, especially when they involve my kthulu!! <3<3<3
  • Meh, my boss bought pizza for the office and I could not resist. About 700 cals over. I'll definitely be going to the gym after work, but not 700 cals worth!
  • I watched a guy do 45 minutes of elliptical right next to me...backward. He was moving his feet as if he were walking backward instead of forward. I tried it myself, and it was really hard. I wonder if you get more of a workout that way?
  • I've been searching for the lowest calorie bread options. So far I think that Joseph's flax, oat bran & whole wheat pitas win with only 60 calories for a full pita. I've also been searching for tasty low cal desserts. I really enjoy options like no sugar added tapioca or rice pudding, because they have a little protein in…
  • I hate zucchini, but I have made lasagna with strips of eggplant instead of noodles and it came out quite good. ETA: Oh, and I didn't buy some special pasta maker...I just used a regular kitchen slicer/mandolin.
  • Free food. It doesn't even matter what it is, it can be the crappiest pizza or grosses cake in the world, but I still have a hard time turning down food when it's free. Like today, for instance, when my boss treated the office to pizza because it's Primary day and I work for a newspaper, so we'll be here late. And it was…
  • I had my tubes tied because I was that damn sure that I didn't want to procreate. Now I am madly in love with a man who has a child. The universe' little joke on me?
  • Not cheaper, but I love the Garden of Life RAW products. In addition to the probiotics, I also use their protein powder and superfood mixes which also contain probiotics. Back when I took a multivitamin, I took theirs, and it also contained probiotics. I used to have major digestive troubles similar to yours. They thought…
  • The best thing to do is avoid anything you're sensitive to, and eat as wide a variety as possible. Try to eat veggies and fruits of every color. One of the biggest problems in our diets is that despite the huge variety we have available, most people eat the same small list of foods over and over.
  • As much as I love the eat at local, non-chain restaurants, that's difficult when I'm counting calories. The lack of nutritional info can be a real deterrent. I'd love to see it available at every restaurant, not just the chains, and I'd love to see it inside the establishments, not just on their websites. At worst, it…
  • Various pickled vegetables. You can get a wide variety of flavors out of this, and a huge diversity of veggies like carrots, turnips, peppers with different levels of heat, asparagus, garlic, onions. etc.
  • Any color/style which makes my awesome boyfriend drool. Which is basically all of them. :)
  • Oh, we'll totes give you diabetes if you hang out with us too long.
  • Polar is a good brand in heart rate monitors. They tend to be the gold standard. I have an old Polar, but I also have a Zephyr which connects to my smartphone to a bunch of different apps. I've tried the activity trackers, and I'll tell you that the technology is not up to par yet. They're all terribly inaccurate and have…
  • Joel obviously doesn't have kids. When he does finally find a woman who will marry him and bare his crotchfruit, I hope she refuses to be the one who takes time from work in order to care for the youngins' when they're sick.
  • Gah, this morning I pigged out on a bunch of smoked ham slices wrapped up with extra sharp cheddar and beer mustard and bread and butter pickles in a tortilla. It was about 350 cals of amazing!
  • So...you're saying that with the number of men who came off of combat with mental issues, PTSD, depression and even very violent and sometimes deadly outcomes once they're home, they're trying to hold women to a different standard?
  • You may not be eating enough. As counter-intuitive as that sounds, it's true. I'm only 5'3" and I still need to eat more than 1200 calories to even maintain a deficit and lose weight. You shouldn't really eat less than your TDEE (total calories burned on an average day including your normal activities) minus 10-15%. My…
  • Oooooo....also, if you go for the regular C25K apps...make sure you choose the one which works with MFP so it will link and automatically feed your info on time and calories burned. Apparently there's a few different apps out there now, but only one links up to MFP.
  • Lots of people are finding success with the C25K apps...there's one from the makers of Zombies! Run! that I'm trying, and it definitely has me going at least 2 miles every other day, although it's half walking. The storyline keeps me motivated to continue. I understand that the full Zombies! Run! game is even better. It…
