*shrug* I'm an editor for a newspaper. No one here cares about my eyebrow ring or visible ink. It all depends on which profession you're in. I'm not sure I would want to pursue one that was so restrictive.

I have 9 piercings and 3 tattoos. I can tell you that the tats hurt for a longer period of time, but the nipple piercings will hurt more intensely. Like, a lot. It's over with fast, and they stay sore for a couple of weeks. They take a long time to heal because they are deep tissue wounds and if you go to a piercist who is…

Actually, there are machines which allow you to do cardio with your upper body. They work sorta like bikes, with pedals that you push with your hands instead of your feet. They're made for paraplegics. If you don't have access to one at a gym or perhaps a short-term rental place, you might look up other forms of cardio…

I suggest you get a heart monitor so that you can effectively see how many calories you're burning with your workout. Some people work more intensely than others on an elliptical or any other cardio equipment. It makes a big difference, and only a heart rate monitor can tell you. That way you'll know how much to adjust…

Yes, the first week and a half or so was awful, I was so sore. I couldn't even stand up completely straight because it put too much tension on my abs. The last half of the second week, the pain started to subside and become more specific to the incisions instead of all-over ab pain, and then it was easier to stand up and…

My boyfriend can make a mean sammich. Jus' sayin'.

Red chili paste plus honey equals spicy honey sauce for shrimp and chicken. Pair with carrots, green onions and water chestnuts over rice.

it's a fermented tea. The fermentation process makes it very fizzy, even more so than carbonated water. If you bump the bottle too much the lid will pop right off. It has a slightly vinegar-like taste from the fermentation. It's full of good bacteria and microbes which are great for your gut. They help with digestion,…

Try lots of pickles, pickled veggies (like carrots, turnips, cauliflower, etc.) and banana peppers on your salad. The juice from these items moistens and adds flavor to the salad so you don't need nearly as much dressing. Most veggies are amazing grilled. Carrots are especially good wrapped in foil with just a little oil…

I love kambucha, I don't care what brand it is. I'm planning to start making my own this summer. It's supposed to be super easy, and I have a huge collection of teas for various flavors. I just need the mother to get it started. It's good for you because it's fermented...in other words, it has lots of beneficial bacteria,…

I quit smoking. I've been a non-smoker for over three weeks and I'm not even struggling anymore. I forget to take my Chantix because I don't feel that I need it. It's probably the single best thing I've ever done for myself.

Hard-boiled egg, nuts, protein bar or shake, small salad with some deli meat, a few thick slices of ham with a bit of mustard, half an apple with slices of cheddar, yogurt, sugar free rice or tapioca pudding... If you're having a snack attack consistently, it's obviously for a reason. Plan for it.

Vitamin Shoppe's store brand has been my fave for a long time. I used to buy the giant canisters when they did BOGO. Haven't had the money for it since I've started getting fit again, but it's definitely on my list. Love the chocolate mint!!

I only log activities that I would wear a HRM for. I don't even log the weightlifting unless it's done in direct conjunction with cardio. Only things that will elevate my heart rate consistently and to a degree that a HRM will accurately count caloric burns get logged. Yardwork and housework are rarely that intense.

That will be a very individual thing. Is your surgery laproscopic (tiny incisions to stick instruments through, instead of opening you up)? The recovery from that takes a lot less time, but you still have to be conscious of those little incisions under your ribs. Let pain be your guide. Walking should be ok after a couple…

If you cut one cubic inch of muscle and of fat from your body, which do you think would weigh more?

I also tried the Polar Loop, and found it a bit annoying. The whole point of the Loop and Vivofit are the heart rate monitors on top of the pedometer tracking. Yet, on the loop, you can't see your heart rate without pressing the button a few times. Repeatedly. Every time you want to see if you're in the right zone.…

I had leftovers from last night: shredded pork soft tacos, red potatoes and carrots, followed by pudding. I couldn't finish it all, so my dogs got a bit of a treat.

I keep cans of soup in my desk drawer as well as protein bars, nuts, nut butters, and wholegrain bread. Being a student on top of my full-time job, I don't always have time to cook, and having these options keeps me from running to the nearest fast food place, or putting money in the vending machine. When I do have time, I…

Personally, I eat mine back because I use a heart rate monitor rather than MFP's guesstimate, so it's more accurate. Also, I don't count lifting, only cardio. And lastly, I also use a vivofit, and I usually have a slightly higher TDEE than MFP's base prediction, so if I don't eat them back then I'm shorting myself. On days…

Your machine will give you an estimate, but it won't be completely accurate. If it asks for your height and weight, it's probably a little more accurate than if it doesn't. A heart rate monitor will be much more accurate than your machine, but it's still an estimate. It's a personal choice as to whether you eat back your…

I just take a highly rated probiotic. I will probably start supplementing calcium, that's the one thing I'm not getting enough of in my diet. Studies show that multivitamins are pretty much useless. Prenatal vitamins and certain vitamins for men over 50 to prevent cancer are the only ones that show any real impact Many…

I have pulled pork and potatoes and carrots in my crock pot right now. That should last a few days.

Chili. I lost a good bit of weight by eating chili. Prepared correctly, it's a nearly perfect food. Lots of protein and fiber, and it can be filled with starchless veggies, and you can make it a completely different way every time. You can experiment with different meats (ground turkey breast, chopped chicken, pulled pork,…

General consensus is that you should eat back your exercise calories on principle. However, many choose to eat back 50% because it is assumed that exercise calories burned are usually overestimated, while calories consumed are underestimated, so eating back 50% strikes a balance between giving your body enough fuel and…

Not wearing perfume is "sloppy"??? WTF?? That's crazy talk! Sloppy would be if all your clothes were wrinkled or stained and your hair was unkempt. That's the dumbest thing I've heard today!

I actually wasn't nearly as bad as I thought I would be. I did have ice cream, but I split lunch with my awesome boyfriend (amazing smoked pork on ciabatta with rosemary potatoes!) and I still have calories left for dinner. I even stopped by the grocery store on the way home and gave myself permission to get one totally…

mjbowman821, that's beautiful and sad. I'm glad you found your soulmate, even if it was for a short time. My beloved and I met online on a free dating site. I'd just broken up with someone, he had just decided he was ready to get serious about someone after his ex-wife. The timing could not have been more perfect, and it…
