Consider this: Your calorie goal is probably set around 250-500 calories below your TDEE each day, right? That's the amount we would need to "under eat" in order to lose 1/2 to 1 pound per week. So, if you binge by that amount, you're basically eating at maintenance. If you binged, but not to the point where you ate up all…

Congrats! All your hard work definitely paid off! You look amazing!! :drinker:

Men, who are physiologically predisposed to having more muscle mass than women, sweat and cry in the gym for years in order to bulk up. When you think of that, it's actually ludicrous that a woman could bulk up in 30 days, even if she did the video on repeat 24/7 for the full 30 days.

I started out with googling "goal weight calculator" and went through several to get an idea of a number to shoot for. Then, as I progressed with getting more fit and gaining a bit of muscle, I threw that out the window and I'm concentrating more on a bodyfat percentage (22-25%) and when I get close to that, I'll reassess…

Actually, most of these machines measure bodyfat by bioimpedence...which means it sends a small electrical current through your body and measures how it's conducted. Lots and lots of things can throw it off, because it can only distinguish between fat/not fat, so if you're wearing different clothes, have a different level…

Garmin Vivofit also uses the heartrate monitor. I have tried both, and both have advantages and disadvantages. Vivofit does not have a backlight, which makes it difficult to see in low light, but also saves battery. You don't have to recharge it at all, ever. You just buy new cheap watch batteries about every 9 months or…

I had mine out about three years ago. First, recovering from the surgery itself was pretty painful. Mine was laproscopic also, just 3 tiny incisions under my ribs and a larger incision in my navel. They apparently gave my poor navel a time of it, stretching it all all, so I had about 8 inches of purple and yellow bruise…

If you have a smartphone, try Zombies, Run! It's a real-life running game that you listen to along with your music. You have to run to complete missions and collect items to bring back to base. The phone tracks you with the GPS if you're outdoors, or accelerometer if you're on a treadmill. I've heard that the story gets…

Just found some Creme Brulee rice pudding - 70 cals. I bet it's delicious.

Yoplait boston cream pie = 90 cals, 5 proteins. Blue Bunny Sweet Freedom vanilla bean and salted caramel variety pack = 100 cals each. Blue Bunny Sweet Freedom fudge bars = 60 cals I prefer things which come in individual portions so I'm not tempted to have an extra bite or two.

I bought this one: http://www.amazon.com/Taylor-Glass-Nutritional-Scale-Silver/dp/B00F8LPBBE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1398307569&sr=8-1&keywords=taylor+slim+glass+top+nutritional+scale It also does the nutritional information, but it only has 1000 foods pre-programmed. You can add another 99. It's super cheap (I…

After testing the Vivofit for a day, I took it back. First, the whole point in getting it instead of a Fitbit was the integration of heart rate monitoring. However, during the actual workout, it was impossible to get to the heart rate monitoring info...namely, zones, calories burned, etc. Also, to get calories burned…

Hi! I'm also an artist. What kind of work do you do? Mine is mostly portraits, and oil is my fave, but I do all kinds of other stuff like handmade books and graphic design (I do page layouts for a newspaper). You're in the right place to do something about the weight. There's tons of information and lots of tools to help.…

I just bought the Garmin Vivofit today. I did a lot of research before choosing. I picked this one because it has a real heart rate monitor (chest strap) for running, biking, etc., it does not have have to be recharged every few days (inexpensive batteries replaced every 9 months or so), and it's waterproof for swimming.…

Hi. Are you trying to make cashew butter, or just pulverize them a bit for crusting chicken or throwing in salads? If you're making nut butter, it's better to roast them because it brings out more flavor, and the oils are more...oily? to get the nut butter to the right consistency. Otherwise it will be crumbly instead of…

I prefer the small local places, but if I'm ordering delivery, it must be Papa John's buffalo chicken pizza. It is not only tasty, it's aesthetically pleasing with the big swirl of sauce. I don't consider it real pizza though.

If you're feeling that C25K is maybe too much of a challenge, try the Zombies, Run! 5K version. It's $1.99, and my bf and I did a comparison. I'm doing Zombies and he's doing C25K, and Zombies starts off easier. It's for true newbies.

This thread makes me really appreciate my job. The one annoying person left. The rest of us work hard and laugh at random stuff all day. It's pretty sweet.

I would totally be up for this. But then, I wear normal running/aerobics clothes when I workout at my PF, which means they are mostly tight. I wear a sports bra with a tank or t-shirt up top, not necessarily tight, but definitely not long and loose. No one has ever mentioned my attire.
-
I'm in the same boat. My scale isn't moving, and measurements technically are about the same, but it's like stuff is shifting around...my clothes are a little looser and I can see a little definition starting. Don't lose your momentum, OP. You're doing all the right things. Definitely double check that you're logging…

Or the Garmin Vivofit? That's the other one I'm eyeballing.

Totally get a few new articles of clothing, but go cheap. If you have something like a TJ Max, Ross Dress for Less, Burlington Coat Factory, or even a Goodwill for second-hand clothes, you'll feel better for having clothes that fit, and you won't blow your budget.

Thanks, guys. I'm aware that the Loop will require the purchase of a chest band, and that's fine. I'm willing to spend up to $200 on whatever I get, and I do like the increased accuracy that comes with the band. The Basis, however, would count calories at all times, along with a bunch of other metrics, but I wonder about…

I've never had an issue with Chantix, but many people have. Apparently, if you have any sort of mental or emotional issue, it will exacerbate it. If you get nightmares, it will make those worse, too. I'm pretty lucky that I don't have any of those issues, so the only side effect I've had is occasional nausea if I take it…
-
I quit 3 weeks ago, with the help of Chantix. What finally pushed me over the edge was this: I started putting the money aside which I would have spent on smokes...$30-50 per week. That's a lot of money to put into something else that I really, really want. I used that money to buy a gym membership, some adjustable…

Before, they were offering a grilled option as well. Is that also back?

You shouldn't HAVE to do anything, because it's really none of their biz...but one poster on here made a great suggestion in another thread: Tell them you're in training for a (insert anything you might train for here) It could be a competition, 5k, triathlon, whatever. People tend to leave athletes in training alone.

Chipotles. Seriously. Get a can of chipotles in adobo and chop a few up (carefully, don't touch your eyes!) and put that with a few spoonfuls of the adobo in the sweet potatoes and mash. Even better with bacon if you can afford the cals.

One thing that could help is to be prepared with some pre-portioned low-cal snacks. For example, last night I bought some smoked turkey deli meat that was 50 cals for 2 oz. So I took out my food scale and measured 2 oz. portions and put them in baggies, and put them back in the package. Then when I was feeling peckish, I…
