  • Great post! Thank you so much for sharing. You should submit it to Dr Phil, or a magazine! Best of luck to you on your journey! (posters getting into dr phil's credentials.... Lol you might be looking so closely at the trees, you're missing the forest!)
  • I'm sure you've tried this, but I don't think I'd ever be comfortable going farther than the old "would you like a mint?" (or gum). I'm sure people will say to just throw it out there that they have bad breath, but I thunk that'd be nothing but awkward, and I'd personally ever do it. Good luck!
  • This is exactly what I'd do. Good luck!
  • I usually alternate spinning or walking with yoga, and I started the 30DS 3 days ago. I am also on week 4 of the C25K running program. I love doing the Shred, my muscles get a great workout, but I can definitely keep up my other activities. I feel like I'm noticing a difference already, though that's probably not possible…
  • I like steal cut oats, & (after a suggestion here!)I stir in a tbsp of PB, then I toss on about 8 ghiradelli dark chocolate chips. Yum! I'm going to try it a little pumpkin spicey tomorrow! Love that idea!
  • I'd love to join in, we can encourage each other! I started a couple of weeks ago, & tonight is week 3, day 3 for me. I am really starting to look forward to it! I run in my neighborhood, around dusk or right after I get my kids in bed. I use headphones & a program igot for $5 I think on my droid, it works really well. I…
  • Who in the world told you that? I suppose everyone should be able to from a healthy cardiovascular viewpoint, but no, 'everyone' can't just hop out and do it. It takes hard work to get there. I think running is different than other forms of cardio. I've been in fairly good cardio shape, I do a lot of spinning, walking, and…
  • I have been working on c25k for a few weeks only, and added 30ds in today! Ive been doing yoga and spin classes for some time, but I feel like these new moves, the running and video, are great workouts. I am planning on keeping up with both, though I was worried I wouldnt have "the juice" to do both the same day, after…
  • Awesome! Thank you so much for sharing! My 5 yo& my baby love quiche, but I try not to make it much as the calories are so high for me (& my 7 yo won't touch it!), we'll for sure try this one!
  • I don't have a problem using my real name and just not letting it get to a number stage, but a great friend of mine used to give people her ex's phone number (his name is Alan), and say her name was "Ellen." That's kind of horrible, but I can't say I don't laugh my butt off thinking of all the confusing phone calls he must…
  • Don't beat yourself up, we've all made mistakes, and you've learned a valuable lesson-- and thank you for sharing it with us! You're in my thoughts, I hope you have a quick road to recovery.
  • Let us know!
  • There are plenty of options! I like running outside, but if that's not an option for you, DVDs can be great. Someone suggested the school's gym, which is something to look into-- my college had a discount rate to students, we could swim there, use the machines, etc. My other suggestion is to consider working at a gym. A…
  • Yep. I might eat befor & do the yogurt parfait, or if I WANTED TO, eat light all day, get a small McDs meal, and work out hard. I don't think it's impossible to fit a real crappy meal into an otherwise good day, at all, at least that's not the life I want to live.
  • You should be so proud! You look great. Keep up the good work!
  • that's exactly how I feel! I used to overeat EVERY SINGLE DAY. Lol Now 1 of those days every couple of weeks doesn't hinder my progress, and it greatly helps my psyche. My goal isn't unsustainable perfection, that doesn't interest me, my goal is to be happy & healthy & toned, so as long as a cheat day doesn't include…
  • My biggest tip for SAHMs is a good gym, with a great childcare. It can cost $, but look into your options in your area. For me, there are a hundred other places I would cut costs before I would cut our gym membership. I'm not even a gym person, I'd rather lift at home and jog the neighborhood sometimes, but the gym is…
  • Are you saying that's all you eat in a given day? If so, I would suggest measuring portion sizes? I've found that I can underestimate if left to my own devices. If you do mean that you truly only eat 600-700 calories most days, even with a salad's worth of lettuce and a low-cal (?) dressing, then you're starving and should…
  • Yes. If you only counted junk food, you'd be taking in a TON of junk food, and end up with a lot more calories. There are a lot of ways to strategize, and maybe some people give themselves X amount of junk food daily or weekly, then don't count healthy foods, but the way this is set up is to count everything. It's wise,…
  • It's funny, b/c in another thread, you and I would have agreed. I did a lot of the things you mention, from cloth diapering to breastfeeding to natural births (though I would have preferred the epidural, sometimes you just can't get there fast enough LOL). And as far as vaccines go, I absolutely understand your medical…
  • Mrs. McCullen, you keep pointing out that vaccinations fail-- that's a one-liner of a very big topic, and you're purposefully taking it out of context and misconstruing it. YES, we all know that there is a small percentage of vaccinated persons who for whatever reason the vax didn't "take" in, and therefore they can…
  • Yes, smallpox did offer survivors immunity. Wonderful immunity. "Survivors" of course being the up to 50% of people who contracted it and didn't die from it, those people who ended up often blind, scarred from head to toe, and infertile from having lived through it, after spreading it to their family and friends killing…
  • Look, I'm not going to change your mind, you're not going to change mine. As it happens, you've not directly said, but hinted that your child has a medical exemption, which NO SINGLE POSTER takes issue with, in the first place; but in the second place, it's my opinion that you are not looking at this scientifically, rather…
  • I don't think you're looking at this in the right context. You may as well be telling us that 4+4=3 TO YOU, & we need to respect that. It's simply not true. Your child is protected by us getting vaccinated because the more people vaccinated, the less presence that illness has in society. He is less likely to be exposed,…
  • You probably need to be more careful with that number, going that far below can backfire. Also, depending on the gain (meaning: 1 lb or 7), it could be from using a different (off) scale, weighing at a different time of day, etc.
  • LOLOLOL! I try not to let that be true, but it is funny! I agree that we have to think about intent here, especially knowing that we can sometimes be hard to understand, as women. Is he tryng to make you feel good, or is he trying to make you feel bad? Don't be that woman who claims "but love, love, love!" when a man is…
  • I agree with this: and also the idea that guys are at least smart enough to not commit "relationship suicide" by implying they think we're fat, so give them some credit for at least trying to make us feel good, kwim? I try to remember his motivations in what he says to me, in comparison to what I might "want" in a moment--…
  • I think it's really intellectually dishonest to misrepresent the fact that polio cases in the us after the vax were caused by the vax & act as though that's the reasonable answer to some question. You have to think about that in the context it's in if you're AT ALL interested in looking at it fairly.
