  • This is how I am! I wear them to smooth everything out-- in fact, I love them for that. But everyday!? No way, that would be so uncomfortable to me. But hey, some people don't like certain kinds of underwear, some people hate socks, etc. So I guess it must not bother her! Though I can't imagine. LOL
  • I'm not a believer in doing something short-term. I have friends who do shakes, or eat grapefruit instead of food, and I just wonder-- are they going to replace food with this stuff forever? No thanks, I think that's kind of silly. I downloaded the droid app to keep track of what I'm eating, and how much I'm working out,…
  • LOL Wow! Glad that's not the line my husband and I work with each other, it sounds miserable. My husband and I try to do things to make the other happy all the time. I do all kinds of things to try to make his days better, and vice versa, according to each's time, talent and interest. If you do marry, I would recommend…
  • I don't buy into the scare tactics against the flu shot. The ones I've read rely heavily on tainted or slanted information, and prey on miseducation on some of these topics. My family & I all get it, always have. I know that we could survive the flu, but we also happen to live in a society. I don't want to carry the virus…
  • My feneral rule is, if I have to ask, then no. I like the suggestions and your update, I'd probably just ask him in the morning if he wanted me to pack a lunch that day. :)
  • Our favorite way is to roast it. Toss with EVOO & some seasonings of your choice, roast at 425*ish until it's done and bits are crispy, 20min ish.
  • Yeah, if your goal is "to lose weight," I think you can. :) You'll be better off with the weights than without. I think you'd be better off with cardio for your heart if nothing else, AND it burns that many more calories, but if you hate it, you know, that's your decision. Actually, I think some people say they get their…
  • Yep, me too. Someone said "weight is 80% diet, 20% work," yes, someone said that, and it's oft repeated. I think reality, though, is "calories in, and calories out." Well, diet is "calories in", and movement is for the most part "calories out." MOVING, cardio, weights, is how you change that part of the equation. So for…
  • Absolutely, but just with water weight, fluctuations, no way on actual fat loss. I think you'd have to be in a pretty specific situation to lose that much fat that fast, and in any kind of sustainable way.
  • That's my answer for me. If you are uncomfortable with it, just be honest with the parents. It's not like you'll be the ffirst person they ever heard of not liking smoke. Just say "oh, can so-&-so stay over here instead? I don't want Bobby to be around smoke too much."
  • Totally! That drives me crazy. 90% of the people who back in, do a poor job of it. My assumption is that they somehow think it makes them cool to back in (and don't realize that it just shows that they can't drive well). But that is totally judgemental of me! LOL I also hate those jerks who know the lane is ending, but…
  • Me too! Love it. I have 3 girls, 7, 5, and 2. My 5 & 7 yos are in school, so the babe in my avatar is the only one at home full time. Haha! Yes, true, between the gym, shopping, picnics, zoo, drop/offs, pick/ups, playdates, etc, we are rarely "at home." LOL
  • I know I would be really full eating 8 apples a day, if it was in addition to ANY other food at all. LOL So I think their idea is to encourage as many fruits & vegetables as possible, while consciously remembering to not eat when you're not hungry, and that sort of thing. If you are eating healthier foods, I personally…
  • Mom (& wife) is my only one. I studied physics, then history, in college, and sometimes think of going back for my Master's, possibly going farther. I'm not sure if I'll work when my kids are older, but if so, I think I'll take the Master Gardeners program at my University, and do something in that field, or just volunteer…
  • Yep! Otherwise I'd have roughly a thousand calories of junk food a day. I would never stop myself from eating that apple because it has to many calories, BUT it's important to remember it has calories so I'm not eating a Snickers thinking I have the caloric room for it when I don't. Well, in other words, yes. If you don't…
  • I'm a pretty private person, I guess, I can't imagine when I'd even have the occasion to be telling someone about MFP, to be honest. LOL So, no, it's never really come up. I would tell a friend about it if they were looking to get healthier and I thought they'd want a good way to log calories, and maybe even talk on the…
  • LOL Sometimes I think that too. But I admit to just not being one of those people who lives and breaths for music. It's a fun background thing I enjoy, it's not my whole life by any stretch, so maybe I just don't get why they're at the level of such a polarizing force. To me, they seem no more or less sucky than about half…
  • I'm going to work out extra hard leading up to it, and after... But I'm going to eat as a please (& log it, though it'll be guesstimates). I eat whatever once a week or so, it's gone well for me. I'm not willing to skip things in life like Thanksgiving dinner, a few Christmas cookes, etc. I find that my body is pretty…
  • This is real similar to my list! I'd say 75% of my clothes are from NY&Co, the others: 5% Anne Taylor, 5% Loft, 5% Target, 5% Old Navy, 5% random others (Modcloth, Banana Republic, for Dept stores I like Von Maur, etc).
  • I can see doing it on a cross-country trip that would take forever, but for a week or weekend? I think traveling with a scale would fit squarely into the catagory of "sweating the small stuff." Congrats on your loss! Sounds like you're doing great, and I'm sure it will continue even if you miss the scale for a few days.
  • Go to Pandora, on your computer. In the box for Create (or "find?") Stations, click, and look at the menu-- it offers a "Browse Stations" or something to that effect. In there is a list, near the bottom is "Workout", click there, you'll see the workout mix stations. If you add them to your Pandora on your computer, it will…
  • Aw, that's cute! I don't think it's that big a deal. I doubt this guy would cry himself to sleep about people getting a chuckle about seeing something from their childhood they hadn't seen in forever, let's not take ourselves so seriously, here. My dad still has a working 8-track player. LOL Luckily, he also has a sense of…
  • Oooooh, good question! I have gym shopped a number of times, been an active member of 3 different gyms, and we've been at our current gym for over 5 years. Let me tell you my priorities: #1: Childcare. This has always been my number one. I spend 2 hours many days at the gym, and my gym has classes (like little dance…
  • I would not bring it. Not specifically because of concerns someone will make fun of you, but just.... how do I say this? I love this journey of getting healthy, too, but living life is number one. I'm not going to start bringing a scale around with me, I just think that's overthinking this all. I'm not a believer in the…
  • You said that so much better than I did! I can think of things we've not been on the same page at first, but we don't really even "argue" much, let alone fight. When there's something we're not on the same page about, we kind of look at how important whatever it is *is* to the other person, and one or the other of us…
  • oooh, hope you're feeling better soon, Mel! Gals with knee pain, hope it goes away soon, that's the worst! I just finished.... 18? I think. I'm SPENT!
  • Serial post! I think I figured it out, and want to post for anyone else searching for this in the future, like I was. You have to log in on your computer, add the stations there. Then they automatically will be in your phone's Pandora next time you open it. (Unless there's a short cut I never found!).
  • Maybe it's relevant that I mean for use on my Droid. I can see how to find these stations on my computer, just not on the phone app.. ?
  • Can somone dumb this down for me? I can't seem to find these stations... Do you go through the "create station" on the menu, or some other way?
  • Does he know the topic is serious to you? I come from a family where we joke, and no one takes themselves real seriously, so it's just kind of how it is. But, if something really is important to you, you SAY it, and it gets respected. So, if he's just being silly and messing around, cut him a break, and TELL him seriously…
