What's this when it's at home - I've never heard of it before....? Would we have it in the UK?

I bought an Freya Active bra in March and it was brilliant - noticed a real difference when doing the 30 day shred and when I initially started running. Unfortunately as I've now lost weight the back size no longer fits, so I've noticed some bounce when runing. However I'll still use it for cycling and horse riding (we…

Glad I'm not the only one that thinks that sometimes... !! For me, 777 cals gone on a 10.5km run.
-
Holy moly! That's amazingly quick - takes me nearly that long to do 5k!!! How on earth do you get to those sorts of speeds?

Just got to add, not just ladies who've had children who suffer from this problem - I can name at least 4 people I know (and me) who have to cross their legs if they sneeze, laugh or cough, let alone leap round doing jumping jacks (star jumps!). Stress incontinence - according to my practice nurse, about 70% of women…

Just to add - I looked at Lighter Life a couple of years ago. There IS a version aimed at those whose BMI is between 25-30 - this is similar to slimfast where you have a shake for breakfast and lunch and then a "balanced" meal - so you have Lighter Life, for those with a BMI of 30+ and then Lighter Life Lite for the 25-30…

Same here

Brilliant, cheers peeps.

You have a point but I only partially agree with you... Most people when they start a diet, or start sticking to 1200 cals a day, will ruthlessly cut out all the "bad" things they used to eat - chocolate, crisps, ice cream, wine - whatever it might be. But after a few days they'll end up craving everthing again - the…

Great read Can I suggest - as other posters on MFP do, can you add links to your 2 threads in your signature so that they're easy to find and read if people want to see them? I would like to read your first thread but not looking forward to wading through X pages to find it - with any luck it will be close!!

:frown: Why?? For the others who've mentioned weight training, I don't have free weights however I have been doing ChaLean Extreme and have resistance bands graded from 10lbs up to 50lbs resistance, and they offer a pretty good workout (especially where triceps are concerned - ouch!). I take the point that the scales are…

Fantastic times - well done!! :drinker:

New-ish runner here  Started on the C25K programme on 23rd May this year and found it to be amazing - like so many others here! I run 4 or 5 times a week. I go out 2 or 3 times a week on my own in the early mornings before I go to work (so usually about a 3.5 mile run each time) and then on a Sat or Sun for a longer…

ROTFLMAO!!!!!!

Brilliant and fantastic photos  My start weight was about the same as yours (I'm a little taller though) and my BF % is about 25% - you've inspired me to know that I can get it down, as that's what I want to focus on now rather than losing "weight". Amazing job - you look fab!

There is a cycle path near my house but I refuse to use it - I'd rather be on the road. Why? Because the path is overhung by trees, and is constantly covered in a layer of slimy, slippery leaves. It's never cleared up and if you don't slip on the leaves (I've had my back wheel slide out from underneath me a couple of…

Thank you  Anyone else have any thoughts?

Excellent article, thanks for posting! Can I just ask, what is CrossFit when it's at home?? Have to say I've never heard of it. Also, the whole lifting weights side of life - I am not a member of a gym and really don't have £40+ to spare a month for a membership. I also currently don't own any weights - the only thing I…

Thank you very much for your reply, very interesting - especially the top bit about running too much. Will need to give that some thought as currently I am running 3 miles plus 4 days a week and cycling every day (only 2 miles there/back to work, so not as much as it sounds). Cheers.

If you're a new runner (I'm currently 138lbs and been running since May this year) how would this logic apply to me? As in, I can definitely feel a layer of fat still on my legs, arms, back and stomach. Running seems to be slowly reducing this but it's still there. Am I right in assuming that at the stage of running and…

The calories on the pasta packaging will tell you, usually.... Generally the calories per serving are for dried pasta - so just weigh it on the scales before you pop it in the water. Easy peasy! A serving is usually 75g of pasta per person - not 5 or 6 handfuls like I used to chuck in the pot!!!

http://britishfood.about.com/od/diningdrinkingtradition/a/fishandchips.htm This has some good information. Also I will confess that me and the OH have fish and chips from our local chippy most Friday nights. We both cycle to work and go horseriding for an hour on a Friday, so we are able to count it in our calories. I…

Is there a particular reason that contacts aren't an option? I only ask as you say that they may be an option for races but not for training...? I have worn glasses for 30 years and in the last couple of months, I have finally started wearing contact lenses again (after a bad experience with gas permeable lenses about 20…

I'm in a similar position, in that I run/bike virtually every day, and have been wondering the best way to get my other training in there - have recently started Chalean Extreme. At the moment it's kind of panning out this way: Mon - Early morning run (3 miles) / Chalean / bike to work (only 2 miles each way so not as…

I've had some success around weight loss with running; I'd got stuck at about 143lbs and running has shifted about 7lbs but now I'm stuck again. But I suspect that's my fondness for gin and tonic, rather than the running!!! The more you do it though the more you will *probably* find that you enjoy it. One of my colleague…

Interesting mix of opinions there  I might look on FleaBay for it, as I am suspicious of all these TV offers where they charge you initiallyu and "lock" you into a 3 month schedule of deliveries..... Have read that the customer service is pants and cancellation is very difficult to do!

Think my highest has been over 180, but it generally "peaks" between 160-180. The rule of thumb for max heartrate is a good rule but not always right, I don't think! According to that calculation my maximum should be 182 - very often it's up around 179 so pretty much 100% effort. And, when it's that high, I am NOT pushing…

I bought Chalean Extreme from Amazon - was abut £25 I think? And Turbo Fire I got from a site called www.bigdvdsale.co.uk (or .com) -site looked a bit dodgy LOL but the DVDs arrived and are brand new etc. Turbo Fire was about £45-50 I think.

I've given up on normal earbud headphones, either the wires jerk them out or they just fall out anyway. If you have smaller ears try Denon, as they make extra-small earbuds and are worth a go. My OH bought me a Sony MP3 player ages ago and it came with bluetooth headphones (quite good ones) so now I've just loaded some of…

I got this set a while ago but never really got started with it. Have now decided to get on with it LOL. Went for a 40 minute run this morning and then did Burn Circuit 1 before showering a coming to work. I don't have weights either, just bands, which are graded form 10lbs to 50lbs but I'm not sure how well they are going…
