You really are doing great. From your ticker you are half way to your goal. And with only another 15lbs left to lose you have to expect that it will be a slow process.

My husband is very supportive but I have still had to find some sort of balance when buying groceries. He is willing to eat whatever I make but I don't want him to give up all his favourite foods for me. So I make meals that are both healthy and taste good and don't make you feel like you are missing out. He really likes…

That's great and it is a neat way to monitor your progress. I am training for my next 1/2 marathon so I am mostly focusing on distance. But I think I might copy you and do this once a month to. Right now it takes me a lot longer than 12 minutes to run 1.5 miles but I'm sure if I work on it I will see improvement too.…

I also find I am up after a workout but I think it is because I drink a lot of water when I workout. I usually weigh myself Thursday nights before bed, nude. I do it before bed because I figure it would be the worst case scenario since I would have finished eating for the day. I'm not sure if that is really true or not…

I want a dog really really bad but we are going to wait until we have a house and a yard. My hubby and I want an English Mastiff or mutt that has some Mastiff in him or her. We both love large dogs with gentle, loving personalities.

A few things I have noticed that may help: 1) You are not tracking your calories consistently on MFP. There are a lot of blank days. 2) There are several days where you are under on your calories. It also doesn't look like you are accounting for the exercising you are doing. 3) Your diet isn't always balanced. Maybe try…

All I have to say is that I think someone is going through sugar withdrawl!

Yes are consistently under by a lot on your calories. You should also be adding in your exercise. 23lbs in 30 days is too fast.

This is all about willing power and making the best choices you can. If you know where you will be eating in advance try to look up the nutritional info online beforehand. Try to choose the healthier options on the menu and make substitutions where possible. As for exercise, maybe try to come up with some ways to…

I've heard this too. I'm curious... Apparently they make special 'socks' that you can wear outside to protect your feet when you don't wear shoes.

Yiou guys are making me hungry! I love all that stuff! Except maybe celery which I can tolerate but it would be the last thing I would pick off of a veggie tray. i have found that my tastes have changed as I have gotten older and stuff I use to dislike (olives, peppers, onions, etc) I know love.

That sucks. I would be finding a different gym. They should offer some sort of orientation session to show you how to use the equipment and there should always be someone available to answer questions. All that being said, I think my starting weight for the ab machine was 30-40lbs and for the inner/outer thigh machine…
-
What gym do you go to? Most will offer an orientation session where they will show you how to use the equipment. Many gyms also have a circuit set up (a bunch of weight training machines you do in order) with the equipment numbered. Most circuits take 20-35mins to complete. I found this was a great place to start when I…

One more thing I noticed. You seem to drink a lot of soda. If you can you should quit or at least cut back. I know it is hard. I like mixing oj with diet gingerale.

A few things come to mind: 1) You don't have a ton to lose. So it will take time. And the scale is not always a good indicator of your progress, especially when you have a small amount to lose, since your weight can naturally fluctuate. Just because the scale doesn't say you have lost anything doesn't mean you haven't lost…

I eat mini meals throughout the day, approx 2 hrs apart. I find that helps. I also eat a fair bit of protein and fibre. But for me the most important thing is simply staying busy. I find working out after works cuts down on the time I have left in the evening to eat .. lol:laugh: On days I'm not working out and instead…

What a great attitude! With an attitude like that you can't fail!

Good for you! I've heard somewhere that the average smoker fails at quitting several times before they succeed. I meant for that to be encouraging  It is amazing to think that I am now smoke free for a year (April 7th was my anniversary)! I think our stories are similar. I only smoked in the evening and I smoked…

Do you also get this pain when you are just standing? Have you tried orthopedics? You should probably see a sepcialist. I sometimes get pain in the area you describe but only after a really intense run and only if I am out of practice.

For me it is all about moderation. I wouldn't want my husband to be completely hair free but I wouldn't want him to be sasquatch either. He isn't very hairy anyways which is good. I do like it when he has abit of facial hair (enough to be soft but not an actual beard) and I like his natural airpit, chest and leg hair…

I think it really depends on how many calories you are burning but you really should keep your net calories high enough to properly fuel your body and extra work means it needs extra fuel. I tend to burn a lot of calories when I work out, especially now that I am training for a 1/2 marathon. I burn between 500-1000…

Some general tips I have learnt having started as a complete newbie runner and trainer for a half marathon: 1) Do not over do it. Increase your distance over time and allow rest days especially between challenging runs. 2) If your run is more than 30mins I recommend carrying a water bottle, especially during the summer. I…

I recently had an advocado just with a bit of salt and pepper and hot sauce. It was great! I've been also told it makes a great dessert by mashing it and mixing it will milk and sugar. I plan to try that later this week.

Congrats on your progress so far and welcome to MFP! As a chef what are your favourite healthy recipes?
-
I disagree with aldi1102. MFP already has taken a calorie defict into account. I think it is ok to eat at least some of your exercise calories back, especially if you workouts are long or intense. For instance, at a weightloss goal of 1 lbs per week my daily calories is 1,400. It is not unusual for me burn 600-800 calories…

Don't weigh yourself every day. It won't be an accurate reflection of our hard work. I do agree that an exact 5lbs difference each day is odd. Try using another scale to make sure yours is working correctly. However, overall I think it is best to just weigh yourself weekly on the same day of the week, same time of day,…

My opinon is that you both are getting way to worked up about this. You told him what you planned to do. He said he didn't care. You like the piercing. Who cares what he thinks? He had has chance to give his opinon and now it is too late. It is just an ear piercing (and I say that having 6 in each ear). It's not like you…

14 lbs in a month is fast but not too quick really. It works out to 3lbs per week? I wouldn't focus too much on the weekly numbers since our weight can naturally fluctuate by up to 5lbs. So the 4lbs in less than a week may not actually be 4lbs of fat loss in that time period. If you continue to lose at fast rate you may…
