You are correct. People like to feel strong and in charge, even if only on the internet because they can't hack it in real life.

You're making this too damn hard. Just eat real food. Not too much. Lean meats and lots of fruits and veggies. You don't need to kill yourself in the gym either. 3 days a week for an hour a day or 5 days a week for 30 minutes a day. Whatever works for you. If you're going to lift weights, find a routine and stick to it,…

NO. this is your problem

Although I don't necessarily believe you should weigh that little at your height I'll give you my two cents anyway. 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight = x 1 gram of carbs per pound of body weight = y 0.4 grams of fat per pound of body weight = z now, take x *4 = a, y*4 = b, and z*9 = c. Then add a+b+c. That's how…

I killed the thread.... oops....

First let's give you a routine so you won't feel so lost when you go in the gym: 3 sets of 12 reps of each exercise (12th rep should be hard to complete): Legs: Squats Romanian deadlifts lunges leg extension machine leg curl machine calf raises (seated or standing) Back and biceps: Lat pulldown machine seated row machine…

If you're new to weightlifting I absolutely do not believe a 5x5 program is a good starting point. Trying to lift such heavy weight that you can only do 5 reps when you're new to weighlifting is going to end in injury. Try doing a weight lifting routine that calls for 3-4 sets of 8-12 reps (which would look like 3x12 or…

To answer your question in the title: NO. Machines are never going to be as effective as free weights and cables. Period. The reason being is that those machines stablize the weight for you and therefore take a large portion of the load off of your stabilzer muscles. Those muscles are the tiny ones that help you balance…

Well... I've never heard of Burning Man. obviously I can google but I guess I was more or less pointing out that this thread could get shut down if the mods notice there is a half naked woman on it.... and I also found it interesting no on else had pointed it out.

Is it just me or is that not a women without a shirt on standing next to the woman in the spork dress??

Some people say that because it is saturated fat as opposed to unsaturated. Just one of those things where people believe if it's saturated fat that it's bad and should never be eaten. Why do you put it in your coffee?

I was just thinking about some cabbage soup today.Yum. But regarding using it as a "diet," well, that's just nonsense. You won't be getting all the vitamins, minerals, and macronutrients you need so you will probably feel sluggish and weak. But, it's your right to do it.

Law of Conservation of Energy. (calories in vs. calories out) Eat whatever the hell you want. But... to be "healthy" and not just skinny, I would recommed fruits and veggies and whole grains and lean meats. Be an 80/20 person. Or a 90/10. Eat "clean" 80-90% of the time and eat whatever you want the remaining 10-20%. The…

I followed a meal plan she had before I went to Hawaii back in June and I loved it! If you go click on my pics there is one of me on the beach. that's what I looked like in Hawaii after following her meal plan for two months and working out the way I normally did.

Do a run/walk. If you can't breath or you feel like you're about to pass out you're going to fast. SLOW DOWN. If you want to do steady state cardio (which would be keeping around the same heart rate for the duration of the exercise) then go slower. If you can't maintain a jog for 5 minutes then run 2 minutes walk 1 minute…

Why do you have a pic on your profile where your head is photoshopped onto someone elses body?

If you're talking about muscles that "move" during these moves then I guess I agree with you. But I don't really agree that they are "left out" completely. They are definitely being contracted during all of these moves. Yes, even your calves. So, I really can't say they're being completely left out during these moves.
-
agreed.

How tall are you? And I'm thinking 1000 calorie is a bit of an overestimation.

2lbs a week is too aggressive of a weight loss plan. You need to try for 1lb a week. This is supposed to be a lifestyle change, you shouldn't be subjecting your body to very low calorie diets just to try to get the weight off quickly, it won't work well anyway. Just be patient. It's a marathon, not a sprint, as they say.…

Wait.... what do you mean unnatural?

The reason there isn't a nutritional difference is becuase it's all sugar.......

-squats -pushups -burpees -squat jumps -jumping jacks -crunches, other core exercises -jog in place - heisman -high knees -butt kicks -superman Take some of these and make a circuit out of it.

Well, seeing as how if you eliminate wheat from your diet you're eliminating anything fried in a wheat flour based batter, sugary cereals that people tend to over-consume, calorie rideen breakfast items like biscuits, etc... then I could see how people could have success with it...

It's great that you were able to lose weight with only running. But bear in mind that you probably lost a decent amount of muscle doing it that way, too. Which also means decreased strength, increase chances of injuries, longer healing times and probably increases risk of osteoperosis. So good for you that you lost the…

Start with walking then once that gets easier go to a walk/slow jog, then just keep increasing similar to couch25k. And do resistance training. With the right diet your weight should come off and you should "tone up" in no time. Don't worry about the flabby cheerleader in high school.
-
You must be overexaggerating what you remember from high school... even though I have no idea how long ago that was for you. If you don't do resistance training than you are at risk of having little muscle tone or very very little visible muscle tone (think, slim, tight arms). You are also at risk of greater chances of…
