Can you ask for a referral from the surgeon to a dietician who can advise you how fast you can safely lose weight before surgery and the best way to achieve that?
-
No, because they ignored it and ended up dead. Kidding, but not completely. Please see a doctor.

If your primary goal is weight management, start by focusing on calories. Once you have the hang of it, you can worry about macros. As soon as you can manage something more than just the calories, make sure you're getting enough protein. For the large majority of people, those would be the two most important things. After…

I think it would also matter, for the question of affecting obesity, whether people who used it when it was illegal are using it more now that it's legal -- assuming that more use means more munchies? Another possibility -- has legalization affected how much marijuana is used in the form of edibles (I don't know much about…

I've been asking to have things "my way" for decades, not always for dieting reasons (and not every time -- I'm often perfectly happy with the way the restaurant has chosen to prepare the dish). And, as OP phrases it in the list, I always phrase it as a question: "Can I have ... [without X or X instead of Y]?" or "Can you…

I've been doing unsweetened cocoa, cinnamon, and cayenne (ground hot pepper if it's not called cayenne in places other than the U.S.) as the additive to my coffee for a while, but this reminds me I like cardamom in my coffee, so I may switch it up. I realize you probably don't mean you literally "cooked" your coffee, but…

Congratulations for a good result!

I'm going to say nobody's really wrong here. NEAT is the incremental expenditure from non-exercise activity on top of your RMR. It's not the total of RMR + expenditure from non-exercise activity on top of your RMR. Since all energy expenditure ultimately involves the chemical processes that provide the energy, NEAT is…

Hadn't thought about this before, but I wonder if the legalization of marijuana in so many states will exacerbate the obesity problem in the U.S.

Agree it's probably butter (or maybe olive oil), but just want to point out that comparing a random database entry for "one serving" of broccoli to a restaurant's info on "one serving" of its broccoli means you're comparing one unknown quantity of broccoli to another unknown quantity of broccoli, so it's already surprising…

It doesn't really matter whether the label says a serving is one PopTart for 190-210 calories or two PopTarts for 400-ish calories. What matters is whether you eat one PopTart or two. The packaging makes it more "convenient" to eat two. (But I fooled 'em by keeping a plastic baggie in the cardboard box to stick the "extra"…

But it sure is helpful for those of us who want to manage our calorie intake. I can eat ice cream, but the nutritional label helps me budget for it.

How long has this been going on? A day or two, you can probably just wait to see if your hunger catches up to (although making an effort to add some protein as suggested above is not a bad idea -- and maybe add some polyunsaturated fats, because you're likely low on essential fatty acids as well). If this has been going on…

Sorry -- I didn't realize that was a quote from earlier in the thread -- thought it was just a question from their own life, since they said "I've always wondered."

Looking through this thread, there's a good variety of opinions on what constitutes success expressed by various posters. Maybe in a calm moment you could say to her, "I want to support you in the way you want/need to be supported, but I honestly am not sure what that means in this particular situation. I went on the MFP…

I don't go that often, so I order what I want. Usually a tofu and eggplant dish with basil.

There is no field for caffeine in MFP database records, probably because it's not required information on U.S. nutrition labels, so you're not going to be able to do it without some major work around. For example, you could decide to pretend that calcium is caffeine, make calcium one of the five nutrients that you display…

"over easy sunny side up" means you're talking to somebody who doesn't know what egg cooking terms mean. It's an oxymoron. Over easy means they've been flipped and cooked for just a little bit after flipping, so there's a thin pinky-white film over the still-runny yolks. Sunny side up means they haven't been flipped, and…

I have refused to install things or to use certain online services because the terms of service were unreasonable. I've also shrugged over unreasonable terms of service when the app or online service was something I felt was very desirable and the downside of the unreasonable terms of service weren't likely to be great…

Yes, but like yogurt it comes in sweetened/flavored varieties as well as plain. I buy the plain for its versatility and because a lot of the time I just drink it plain.

As for your specific question on smoking, it is generally viewed as an appetite suppressant and as an alternative activity for your mouth and hands (an alternative to eating, that is). Many people gain weight when they quit smoking (but that's not a good reason to continue smoking).
-
How are you tracking your calories? Are you using a food scale? Are you using other people's entries for multi-ingredient dishes with serving sizes of "one plate" or "one bowl"?
-
Best of luck! Welcome to MFP.

Check the documentation (either printed or online) to find out whether your particular oven automatically lowers the temperature when you turn on the convection setting. You're supposed to set it 25 degrees F lower if the recipe directions don't give convection directions, but some ovens automatically lower the temperature…

Should be able to dispute it with the bank/credit card as soon as it posts; no need to wait until it shows up on a month-end statement.
-
Best of luck! You did it before; you can do it again!

When you create the recipe are you indicating the number of servings the recipe makes? When I "add to diary," I always get a field for how many servings, but maybe it doesn't do that if you don't indicate that the recipe makes more than one serving?

LOL. Got to keep those kids away from veggie soup! I don't remember the 70s and 80s as being so weird, but I guess most things don't seem weird when you're growing up in the middle of them.
-
What would be the difference between the air frier setting and just using the convection setting at a higher temperature?
-
Probably not what your grandmother made in the 70s and 80s, as the original recipe by this name didn't have turkey -- it was part of an extreme low-calorie diet plan.
