Based on the studies I've read, LISS is more appropriate for obese sedentary people coming off the couch, with a little interval training thrown in to induce faster changes. There's my middle-of-the-road, everything-in-moderation answer.

I am quite happy with my Continental Ultra Gatorskin tires. Over 1,000 miles without a flat on some very rough, untended roads. They are a huge PITA to take on and off, but other than that, worth every penny.

Oh, and good luck on your marathon!

I like the rockmyrun mixes. They are long (most are an hour each) and the music is good. Lots of variety to choose from. I think you get some free downloads when you register at their website.

Green tea is a great idea. Any kind of flavored tea would be delicious, I reckon. Unsweetened almond milk is only 30 calories per cup and has a pretty good nutritional profile. Sometimes I do half skim milk half water. Coconut water is slightly sweet and salty and fairly low calorie, too. Diluted juices are good. Sometimes…

Yup, try a braid if it's long enough. I wear my hair in a high ponytail or bun or braid when I work out because otherwise it gets caught beneath the barbell during squats and that HURTS.

I'm all about the squats. They keep my big butt high and tight. Edit: Fixed photo size ... I just spent 10 minutes figuring out how to post a picture of my butt on a public forum :/

literally. As in, my head LITERALLY exploded. The perceived misuse of "random" used to raise my hackles until I listened to a segment on All Things Considered. The precise mathematical definition of "random" has been in use since the late 1800s but the word has been used to describe somethng that is lacking a definite…

I ride my bike about 10 hours a week and lift weights three times a week (about 30 minutes/session). I also take a yoga class twice a week.

Yummmmmmmmmm ... gonna try this one out soon! Thanks for sharing :-)

I actually bought my last patch kit in a pinch at a gas station. It was a car tire patch kit, but it worked fine. I used a couple spoons to pry off the tire. It held for the rest of my ride and then I forgot about it and kept riding on that tube for months until it blew out again.

Hello fellow cyclists :-) Last month I hit 460 miles. I want to do at least 500 this month, preferably more. Most of my weekday miles are commuter miles (I filled up my gas tank 6 weeks ago and it's still 3/4 full!). My weekend mileage is a combination of commuter miles and longer rides. I don't have a computer to track…

Good job lady! You've been putting in some serious miles.

I went on a Carnival cruise in the spring. I ate fruit and eggs for breakfast, hit up the salad bar at lunch and enjoyed dinner with my mom and sisters. I also exercised every day and walked a ton.

Listening to some frogs croaking and some crickets chirping in the woods out back. And the neighbor kids playing basketball. And someone, somewhere playing bongo drums across the creek.

Oh man, I forgot about english muffins. I used to be obsessed with Egg McMuffins when I was a kid. Yum.
