Yeah...the 'time' problem sounds very familiar to me...and then there were the gym membership fees and the gas money... I fixed that: I started buying dumbbells, bars, weight plates, recently added a bench... => home gym. I'm still happily lifting, and I have not heard a reasonable complait from him since... :D

I don't know why people woo-ed this post this many times.... I couldn't agree more...the chart is...maybe a guideline at the most... If I had to dilute the color of all the vitamin B I'm taking, I'd be drowning.... If in doubt, have the hydration level...and the kidneys, while you're at it...checked by a doctor... Best of…

Been there, ripped the fridge door off the hinges.... Out of personal experience, stepping down the exercise program and eating at maintenance for a while, might take the edge off the food cravings.

Wouldn't it be nice to buy healthy food before taxes as well... But that's not what the HSA is for, right...

Yeah...Suddenlink will only run cables so far off the main line. Tell your sister to check for broadband with Frontier. They'll string lines through trees if they have to... Cell service is a bit spotty in the state, but you can get free internet anywhere from Dairy Queen to Walmart and McDonalds... Information is…

Sure.... Let's just print more money to pay for all of it....

I can relate... I have some stubborn family members.... :D

On the bold part of the quote... If this was a permanent decision, for a doctor, I find it a bad move. While I can understand the frustration that the doc might have had on a personal level, regarding your dad, and considering their long-term relationship, he better be the good example, doing jumping jacks from room to…

I've been following this conversation from the beginning, and after all the comments, I have come to (my personal) conclusion, that it doesn't matter what a restaurant does....or any institution that is not required by law to accommodate for any reason. In the end, you won't be able to stop the complaints. In case of this…

The owner is a smart guy. But still, that's not the kind of costly accommodation that most of the conversation was all about, IMO, like buying expensive larger chairs or sacrificing a number of seats in favour of a spacious dining area. His move is deciding against a pricey style element in favour of damage control.

A certain admiration for 'full figured' has been well documented in artwork over the centuries. In some regions of this globe, even today, some cultures consider is a sign of 'well to do', if the family members are well fed...

Definitely not after just getting done rebuilding after total destruction from 25 years prior... At least in the part of the world where I'm from.

I think, even the number 200 is relative.. At 6'2" and at the time close to 200 lbs, my father-in-law didn't fit into much of anything..car seats, airplane seats, restaurant booths... The challenge is 3-dimensional... :D

I'd say, for making an educated business decision about their investments and budget, any business will find that a larger proportion of people is in fact not large... That's a risk that they will take. A 'weight loss' site is alway little bit 'anti fat' by nature.... There is no special bias involved, I'm sure... ;)

I live in one of the 'heaviest' states in the US. Many of non-chain the restaurant in area have changed owners many times, and there is no or little thought given to 'space design' of any kind. The new owners just add a new layer of paint to existing space and keep going.. The chain restaurants seem mostly stuck with the…

I'm reading Frederic Delavier's Women's Strength Training Anatomy -Workouts, and he references studies that have demonstrated an accelerated use of fat that covers working muscles. Also, the increase in blood flow due to muscle contractions inside near fat stores seem to show an accelerated fat release, while new fat won't…

IMO, if a gym has fancy scanners, then they'll likely want to sell you a product afterwards. Don't get discouraged. See your family doctor for advise, not an internet forum. The doc should be familiar with your family history, and will know better. Best of luck!

I never set foot on a treadmill in my life, but I have plenty of experience, running outdoors. I'm casting another vote for different footwear. I even had to change shoes between runs on the track or cross-country. If the competition is outdoors, training should probably be, too. Best of luck!

One of these days, this guy might run into someone's dumbbell side lateral raises... Hugs!

Then let's get rid of the 'woo's while we're at it... I find those more annoying than baby animals... :D

Check out Craig Capurso on bodybuilding.com. He's got some good training suggestions there, and the arms to match...

If you like Jillian, there are plenty of her video workouts with similar intensity. I like to mix and match them, so the same body parts won't get hit several days in a row. Best of luck!

Those 1350 would likely be your BMR. That's the calories that your body needs for you to survive a coma.. 1600 cal should be ok. Eat some of your exercise calories back, though. Your total shouldn't drop below your BMR. I have similar stats, and I lose almost too quickly at 1600. Monitor your pace, and adjust accordingly.…

I can recommend the book 'Women's Strength Training Anatomy-Workouts' by Frederic Delavier. You can find some bargains in VGC used on ebay. Aside from the fabulous illustrations and the comprehensive descriptions of exercises, and how to perform them correctly, it also contains information on how to design and plan a…

Same here! Whatever I eat for breakfast, seems to set the path (to the fridge and back) for me. I love my oats, but by noon, my stomach starts growling. I can go til 2 pm on 3 scrambled eggs and some turkey without even realizing...

Some experience here... What you were writing here, is exactly what you have to tell this family member. There is no sugar-coating the issue. Ask her to replace the food, or repay you. She is aware of your nutrition requirements? If so, then her behavior is rude, ignorant, and not acceptable. Best of luck!

Not at all (bold print...). Must be one of those 'darned if you do, darned if you don't' occurrances on this forum, where I actually underestimated my calorie burn from strength exercises for my activity level and food.... I must be doing better that I thought. BTW, I never stated, that I'm on a mission to lose weight. In…

I'm not the least bit confused about what my calories are. I've been training for a few years now, and...see profile pic...I'm fairly sure that what I'm doing works well for me personally, as far as my calorie requirements are concerned. Also, the little weightloss bonus will disappear in the very near future, as I'm…

I am indeed eating the number of calories, that are calculated as 'maintenance'. I didn't say that I was eating back any exercise burn. My BMR is around 1300, but I'm eating just over 2000, which leaves me with enough wiggle room to shed fat, but I'm never 'hangry'. Getting rid of some winter padding is just a bonus right…

The trick on deep fried food is, to keep the oil at a perfect temperature for the specific oil that you are using. This will keep the oil mainly on the outside of whatever food you are frying. If you throw in all the chicken balls at once, the oil cools off, and the food will suck it in like crazy....adding an insane…
