Before I met my husband, I dated a wonderful guy who happened to have cerebral palsy. He had a limp and an atrophied left hand. He was a truly great guy, though, and aside from me getting used to how to treat things like opening doors, walking long distances, etc., it never bothered me at all. I really liked him, and like…

I'm hungry just looking at these again! LOL! I'll have to whip up a batch this week!!! :D

It's child abuse. That child is obese and her mother just keeps feeding her sugar. She's going to wind up diabetic. How is this any different from someone, say, exposing purposefully their child to radiation? Eventually they'll get cancer. It's absolutely just as bad. So sick. Not to mention the lack of brain... but that's…

You look wonderful! Congrats! Are you and your hubby dieting together? I noticed he looks like he's getting smaller alongside you! If you are, PLEASE tell me how I can get my hubs to do that too! lol

I think they might rise better if you put some baking soda in there too. :) Looks yummy!

I have eaten up to two cans a day for weeks on end. I'm alive and I'm fine.

I had bacon and coffee. Noms.

Walmart cashiers, in my experience, are very interesting. I once had a guy who opened my shampoo to smell it, and then told me I had pretty hair-- then proceeded to lean in and smell my hair. And another lady who told me her mother owned a carwash when she was little and made her walk through the bay as punishment and was…

Some people don't get it. I think that's because each of us are different. :) It's definitely nice to have a controlled appetite!

[\quote] with your easy to understand videos there's also this page: http://www.dietdoctor.com/science
You do realize the #1 cause for over insulin production is an energy surplus, right? Read this for more info http://weightology.net/weightologyweekly/?page_id=319
Yes, but the whole point of the video is…

It took me years-- YEARS-- to understand why low carb diets work for me. In 2006, I lost 70 lbs. by eating bacon, eggs and steak. I didn't eat very healthily-- I ate tons of fat and lost. That's not a balanced diet by any means. Did it work? Yes. Did it make me cry when I looked at cupcakes? Yes. To be completely honest,…

1. Come up with creative ways to use eggs. Eggs are cheap and really versatile. 2. Don't have fresh meat at every meal. Opt for canned tuna and chicken or whole (as unprocessed as possible) lunch meats sometimes, especially in salads. 3. Buy inexpensive cuts of meat and cook them in the Crock Pot for a long time. You won't…

While I absolutely believe that we are all personally responsible, I do believe that the addictive properties of sugar and starchy carbs and just refined junk in general need to be addressed. My battle with food addiction is a daily one. I changed my ways, but there are times when I find myself shaking while looking at a…

So basically, victim mentality is whenever someone calls something out for not being fair? Fine-- I'm willing to accept being denied now. But if I lose 60 more pounds (my tentative goal) and reapply, I'll still be forced into a high risk pool despite having no health problems and lesser risk of getting them since the fat…

Good job reading the replies here, and the fact that I've already lost 60 pounds and they held the fact that I lost weight against me. Way to read!

We've been continuously insured for the past couple of years, so I suppose i'm out. Thank you, though.

When I was younger, my dad had a brain aneurysm. He was in the hospital for six weeks and nearly died. Even with insurance, my parents owed more than 100,000 dollars. They had to file bankruptcy (back then you could file on medical bills). We lost our house. The current system works well until anyone gets struck with a…

I don't think it's a stretch at all. Wouldn't it be in an insurance company's best interest to help their members become healthier? I'm not saying do it for them, but um... it would be beneficial to the company.

I just want to add this for those who missed it: The insurance company viewed my weight loss as a RISK. It was part of the reason I was DENIED. When they asked if I'd lost more than 30 lbs. in the past 12 months, I checked yes. On my DENIAL rider, it was listed, in addition to my overall weight, as a reason for their…

He was the primary. Definitely could be right.

PS: When all the uninsured fatties, who were more than happy to pay several hundred dollars a month for insurance, end up going to the E.R. for their obviously unavoidable according to you heart attacks and then don't pay the bills, you're going to end up absorbing the cost anyway. Just saying.

I was honest and put my correct weight on a form. Clearly I should have lied.

My mom is 5'4 and 145 lbs. and has high blood pressure, high cholesterol and is a smoker. She has no problems obtaining insurance. I have been overweight my entire life. I do not, and even have not, eaten McDonald's every day. I've never smoked a day in my life. I walk all the time. I have great blood pressure, great blood…

I totally understand. Luckily, we do have the option of continuing insurance through his school, but it costs an arm and a leg. I can see them charging MORE for overweight people, but denying altogether when they have abcolutely no other health conditions? Absolutely insane. Not to mention, none of the plans cover anything…
Where do you see UNH made 700 billion last year or even close to that amount, their revenue wasn't even 700B
Sorry, I meant "like 700 billion" in an exaggeration. I shouldn't have said that. A crap ton would have been a better exaggeration. LOL. The irony here? I used to work for UHG.

More protein: you need to be eating way more than 50g/day. Add in eggs, fish, cheeses or even protein powder if necessary. Maybe try alternating to Greek yogurt, too-- it's much higher in protein. Also, you do need more fat, most likely. Whole, natural fats (avocado, grapeseed oil, olive oil, even butter) would be a good…

Honestly, maybe 4. LOL. Although you'll have lots of leftover salsa! I actually should have said to use a pound of fish so you can use more of the veggies and whatnot. I kinda threw this together, so it's a homey recipe! LOL

You look amazing! I'd still kill for your before figure, though! :D
