@shanaber - this is a great idea, thanks! My dad is more of a leader than a follower in this kind of thing, so I’ll see what I can do.. :D

I’m so grateful for all the inspiration from all of you—and am finally back in for 40 miles this month. I have a 6-day trip through NYC (work)/MA (family) in the middle, and will be hoping not to lose too much ground. Running here in the PNW doesn’t acclimate me for snow and ice, so my hope is for dry ground and/or…

I also think dismissing the ways that exercise contributes to weight loss minimizes the range of what people experience. I exercise for health, yes, but also for fun, weight loss, fresh air, social connection, endorphins, etc. I also eat for lots of reasons—pleasure, sustenance, health, social connection, weight loss, etc.…

I was posting in this group a lot last year, but then my work travel & intensity picked up (i.e. all went to h&@!$), and I got totally off my MFP and running game. Luckily I haven’t picked up too many lbs (about 5, after I lost ~30 and had/have about 20 left to lose). And I’ve been running a bit, just not so regularly (but…

Love my daily lattes! And they help with my calcium intake. I don’t seem to have trouble budgeting for them, but I’m reasonably active

What everyone else said: Omlettes, scrambles, risottos, soups, green smoothies, sautéed with a splash of lemon juice, vinegar, or hot sauce. I make it in a Sri Lankan dish, shredded and sautéed with some grated coconut, onions, turmeric, & mustard seeds. Basically I use chard, spinach and kale fairly interchangeably.

I also have Hashimoto’s and take thyroid meds, and my heart rate is generally in the mid 40s to low 50s—not sure about correlation either..

@skippygirlsmom welcome back! Good to hear that you’re back at it with no pain.. @7lenny7 7 flat well paced miles sounds like a brilliant way to get your head sorted! @eponine1984 I had a life-threatening miscarriage years ago, and found listening to where I was at physically and emotionally key to moving through it all.…

@DX2JX2 I have to beg to differ on the salmon jerky... my whole family loves it! That said, more than one of us have expressed envy of the dog’s jerky (also from TJ’s), so YMMV for sure! :D

April: 20.1 mi/70 mi goal All of the race reports and pics from this weekend are really impressive and lovely—congratulations to everyone who raced! I had a nice sunny post-work 5 mile run tonight. The temps here in Seattle are pretty ideal (I think 60 tonight?)—wish I could share with everyone! But not the rain, which is…

Chicken burrito bowl, reduced guilt Mac n cheese (both frozen). Also their tzaziki is low in calories. Inexpensive avocados and limes.

8 mi today—not snowing here but we’re in a rainy stretch, and I got most of the miles in during a little break, so that was nice. I’m still in the midst of work nuttiness with more travel on the horizon, but getting out while I can. April: 15.1 mi/70 mi goal @eponine1984 I’m also thinking of you.. I hope things go well…

Getting a late start here, but I’m in! I closed out March at 72 & change, 12 mi above my goal of 60, so I’ll go ahead and shoot for 70. Might be a little tough because I’m going to have less time for long weekend runs due to travel, but I’ll give it a whirl. Really I’d just like to be at 20+ mi/week consistently at this…

I used to love working out over lunch, for years—two different jobs. I did running, yoga, or swam laps—and occasionally other things (tennis, ice skating, walks). This was especially good because I had small kids, so doing it while I had child care was ideal. Now my job (which I love) and the work culture (most of us work…

Calcium inhibits absorption of iron, so I also try to eat these separately. Generally I go for calcium-rich foods earlier in the day (milk, yogurt, cottage cheese) and iron-rich foods later in the day (beans & lentils, fish, eggs). Red meat is a great source of iron, but I don’t eat much of it. If I don’t get enough iron,…

I think it’s more about body attitude than calorie counting per se, when it comes to negative effects on kids and their self image. So, negative talk about bodies, terrible representations of fatness in the media and discriminatory attitudes are much worse than the kind of pragmatic approach the OP and others have talked…

My dog gets lots of walks on rest days (no running, no gym-based exercise).

I have a delicious homemade latte with 1.5 t sugar every morning and have lost 25 lbs in the last three months—mmmmmm!

I like running for 30 min—I burn about 400 calories in that time, and enjoy it. I burn a little less on the rowing machine, but it’s still pretty good.

@skippygirlsmom June seems so far away, but it’s good you know you don’t want to run the half hurt. I hope all heals well and fast. @amymoreorless That pollen sounds like no fun! @PastorVincent I also vote for dry clothes over ideal ones, and no standing around in the cold! Warm car sounds pretty good for at least 1/2 the…
