  • My only thoughts on these types of meats is the sodium in them. I buy a plain whole chicked from the butcher and cook it on a Sunday evening, the break it up and put it in a container and use that for lunch (then choose the worst calories for chicken on MFP for logging, so currently logging it as leg meat as by the time…
  • I sometimes feel nauseous after an hard workout (have managed to keep it at just a feeling), I do on occassion get 'runners trots' when I'm out running, I did discover that cutting cheese and pasta from my diet 12hrs before running seemed to help with that, but it only ever happened when I was actually running not once I…
  • Having spent over £300 since January on runs, I actually ask myself the 1st one on a regular basisi (couple that with the amount I then spend on road running & trail shoes, plus clothing and there's a reason I have 2 jobs)!!!! My trainer does this because he knows it bugs me (I'm not very fast and invariably a couple of…
  • I'm in for 150miles (marathon training has approx 135 miles running training), I also walk everywhere so hopefully make it. I'll sort my ticket out later. Saturday 1st March 3.01miles (trails) Sunday 2nd March 7.07miles (trails)
  • Workout Summary 10th February 2014 - 16th February 2014:- 29.8miles in 9.4hrs. 17th February 2014 - 23rd February:- 27.4miles in 6.7hrs (worked away from home 2 days last week which meant I spent all day travelling). 5miles planned for tonight:)
  • I tend to avoid the fat free stuff because of the hidden sugars in it and I don't like the taste of the low calorie ones either!! I have 2 X 150g portions of Rowanglen Natural Greek yogurt, if I'm looking for extra sugar they have a version with strawberry compote layer on the bottom, took me a while to get used to the…
  • The Glo Run looks like it'll be really good fun, C25K will get you there in plenty of time, you'll soon be throwing out statements like 'come and do it, it's ONLY a 5k'!!! Personally I would be fitted at a running shop for a proper pair of running shoes, if it was only the 5k you were doing I would say you could get away…
  • According to the BMI Scale I'm too short!!!! Was fine until I started working in an office and changed from an active lifestyle to quite a sedentary lifestyle and didn't change th portions to reflect this. Now found a wonderful group of people where I we do bootcamps and various other classes and I'm in training for my…
  • Walking/Jogging outside is also a bit more difficult and would increase calories being burned:)
  • I tend to go on the basis of Breakfast like a King, Lunch like a Prince and dine like a Pauper, but do struggle to make breakfast the highest in calories, it's normally lunch for me. I do a lot of my exercise in the evening so a 300calorie meal for me wouldn't work, but dinner does tend to be the lowest in calories.
  • My first Spartan Run was over 1.5hrs, it hadn't been very well thought out and we queue for nearly 30min at the first obstacle (and then there were another couple where we had to queue but probably for less than 5min)!!! Road running PB on a 5k is 36min 33sec (timing chip), trail running (with hills and the grass at the…
  • How many calories are you looking to have a day?? I eat 5 times a day (breakfast, lunch dinner & 2 snacks), the snacks can be half an apple or a glass of milk just to kick my metabolism, because I'm pretty much grazing throughout the day I rarely get hungry (wanting eat because I'm bored at my desk is another matter) Maybe…
  • Doesn't matter if it's a 5min mile or a 20min mile, it's still a mile. I also like Pain is just fear leaving the body (although I do threaten to hit the trainer when he says it half way through class) and If it ain't hurtin, it ain't working
  • Never had a Beagle, but always been told that you don't let them off lead or they disappear (nose to ground and off they go), have you tried to find out if there a Cani-Cross group in your area, cani-cross is specifically for people running with dogs. I walk a 115lb ridgeback, however he went to obedience from a puppy and…
  • I'll try and dig out the picture I saved, it was 3 different pictures put together with the 4th one explantion at the bottom, the girl in the picture took the pictures over time in a 2 piece bikini, body was slim, but started getting more toned and muscled but at the same time getting heavier. The 4th picture was the…
  • I'm 1850 a day on my rest days and increase that by 100-300 on days that I'm doing somthing (100-200 where I'm only running or PT, 200-300 days I'm running and doing weights), I try to have 5 smaller meals a day and make sure there's a protein source in each of them. I'm 1850 a day as my resting metabolic rate is just…
  • How many calories a day are you having, is it possible you're not getting enough to kick your metabolism into burning calories?? Can't see your diary but don't think I would be eating enough based on your post.
  • Look at various plans and decide which one fits best for your fitness levels and lifestyle. I'm doing Edinburgh Marathon in 14 weeks, alternating between being excited and crapping myself!!! I'm lucky, I have a dog I can walk and loads of trails (he's a ridgeback so can keep up), I just go out on my own and do the mileage…
  • Brooks Vapor 10 for road running Salomon XA Pro 3d Ultra GTX for trail running. Went on treadmill for running shoes for gait analysis (would have to say the staff where I went really know their stuff and the qualifications are pretty impressive as well), didn't get gait analysis done for the trail shoes as the treadmill…
  • I want to know what the difference between butter and european butter is, in the UK we just get butter salted or unsalted!!! The only time I have issues with butter is when I mix it with a pound of sugar and a can of condensed milk and make tablet (there aren't enough numbers on my calculator to figure out the calories!!!!)
  • I use Maxi-muscle strawberry powder (as suggested above because it's an easy way to get a protein source into my breakfast which was generally higher in carbs than I wanted and eating eggs every day has a rather unpleasant effect on me). I mix half a scoop with about 700ml of water, or with 100g of yogurt. Can't take a…
  • Again, really only looked as far as the weekend, agree with above, bit generic (home made soup, are all the individual ingredients being logged as a meal, what size is the 1.5 cups you're having), carbs are high (bread was my biggest issue as well). Other thing I noticed is that you logged 2 fried eggs for breakfast one of…
  • Well done, think in the first week it's probably to be expected, I would maybe start to question it if 4/5 weeks in I hadn't adjusted, but if you're still feeling good and just sleeping more then I wouldn't be overly worried about it. I've started my marathin training so have increased my mileage and what I'm doing at…
  • Where is this, do you mean Irvine on the West Coast of Scotland?? Edited:Sorry, forgot I've got a 10k this Saturday:(
  • Can I ask why you have no plans to eat more when you're changing your exercise, as people above have said you work more you need to eat more. I tend to have dinner after rather than before and have nuts/seeds, protein shake or whole milk before.
  • In my personal opinion, I don't like fad diets, they may get the weight off quicker but maintaining weight loss is about changing lifestyle habits, getting rid of the crap in the cupboards so it isn't there to tempt you and buying non-processed healthy food and dropping weight at a reasonable pace. I do remember reading an…
  • Agree with above, keep putting the miles in and the speed follows, interval training is really helpful, I use lamp-posts outside for this, started off easy of push hard for 1 lamp-post and then back down to an easy pace for 2 or 3 lamp-posts, then back up, by the time I was about the 5th or 6th rep I wanted to cry (just…
  • Sorry don't think so, the dietician I use is also used by elite athletes, where are you getting your information from?? Try googling how fructose if processed by the body, fructose is metabolised by the liver and absorbed straight away, so if you are in a sedantary lifestyle then is goes to fat much quicker than glucose…
  • I use MapMy Run for outside walking/running, used to use Endomondo but it was really glitchy when I last used it and kept pausing the workout even though I was still moving.
  • Sorry it's not processed the same in your body, fruit sugars are processed by the liver and absorbed at once, therefore increasing fat cell production (this really only applied if you are sedentary, if you are active it will use it as energy rather than building as fat), fruit does expand in the gut and make you feel…
